Delicious fish and chips. Fresh and batter was crispy. Lovely atmosphere sitting out the front eating. Good spot to stop in after our walk up to the look out.

Puhoi was originally established in 1868 by immigrants from Bohemia whose names adorn many of the road signs in the area and whose descendants still call Puhoi home

Since those early days Puhoi has developed into a bustling tourist village, whose attractions also include the legendary Puhoi Pub Puhoi River Kayak Tours The Puhoi Tea Room and the monthly farmers market.

Positioned right in the heart of the historic Puhoi village, is the iconic Puhoi General Store

The General Store has character bursting from its exposed wooden beams to its polished wooden floors The shop has everything a local or tourist is looking for. From everyday grocery necessities beer and wine souvenirs, hot pies, chips and oysters or fish as well as good coffee, Danish pasties and slices

Patrons can sit out in front, or in the courtyard under the large raised verandah with views across to the Puhoi River Part of the store is also utilised as a real estate office for Mike Pero Limited.

The margins these guys put on products is absolutely appalling and shameless. $29 for a 6 pack of beers that would cost $19 everywhere else. Shame on you!
Food is average at best. Sullen staff who clearly don’t enjoy working there. Recommend to drive straight past this place.

Fish and chips was good but somewhat dear. Supplies are not cheap either but also good quality. Nice local produce.

Ordered osysters and chips x 2 and 1 pie.
Delious. My problem was with the unfriendlt service of an older women.the young girls where friendly as. Would i recomend? NO.
Was much better under the old management.

The lady served us was not friendly at all, no smile no greetings. Will never come back again. Food was okay tho.

We would not reccomend this place at all, we ordered 2 lots of Oysters and chips however the battered oysters were such a soggy mess i had to use the chips to pick them up to eat, I didn't want to complain and I didn't want my money back but i throught they should know for future customers. The owners response was i didn't know i was talking about and refused to acknowledge that they served us mush we couldn't even pick up.

Stopped in here the other day for a coffee beautiful store very friendly staff but the coffee was terrible tasted burnt and bitter if you can work on the taste of your coffee or try some other coffee beans I would have given a five star.

Awesome quant place to visit, pity only click and collect coffee, will visit again when places able to open

06th November 2021: Fish & Chips- I found this place to be too over rated and such a disappointment, as everything was so soggy and drenched in so much oil. My takeaway order was for three Hoki, one scoop of Chips, eight Oysters, and two Hotdogs. Not worth the price I paid that’s for sure

Got the mussels and chips for $10 was quite a big feed and absolutely delicious I will definitely be back, good range of good in shop too

To the store owner, The way I got treated tonight and spoken to was Absolutely Disgusting and Unprofessional, telling me I’m not welcome back and swore at me when I was just trying to sort out my mail as I am new to this area. Telling me I needed a key when In fact I had one but my Parcel wouldn’t be able to fit into the post box. I have been in a few times now and he’s so RUDE to his customers, never smiles and doesn’t look like he’s even interested in being there. I feel like everything is over priced. At the end of the day if you own a business be nice and treat your customers the way you want to be treated.

Got some coffees here before and after a gravel ride. Friendly staff and good coffee, also had a choc brownie which was also pretty good. Didnt try myself but other people there were raving about the oysters and chips.

Ok little shop for the area. EVERYTHING is hugely exspensive in this place compared to literally any where else.the food food is pretty good though

It was nice and the shopkeeper was nice, loved how the fish and chips were in newspaper, the chips were a bit soft though, however the fish was amazing.

An eclectic general store with everything including good coffee to plants and burgers. The chips and fresh oysters are only $10. Nice place to be on a sunny winters day

This Store Has Small Town Charm & A Good Range Of Products, The Fresh Made Ham & Salad Rolls Are Very Nice & Fresh. Staff Are Welcoming And Friendly. A Great Spot?
