THIRTEEN50 Bistro and Bar

This restaurant/bistro is inside Novotel Airport Hotel, If you are staying in this hotel, it's best to opt in for the buffet breakfast, otherwise, there's not much option other than airport food, especially if you are catching an early flight. I like that their breakfast service starts early (530am if I recall correctly?).

Their buffet breakfast has a decent spread and options to get started for the day. The food quality is average, perhaps the most disappointing was the bacon which is too hard to eat.

The environment is relaxing, clean and not overcrowded by tour groups, which is really a plus point. Can't really comment on the service as it was a self service buffet and there wasn't any service staff around.

I'm deeply dispointed because the bloody service. We waited our meals for more than 1 hour and the food still didn't show up. And we were not the only qroup of customers encountered this problem, on one got any food before 8: 45 in this restaurant. Apparently, there's something happened with the kitchen. The waitresses acknowledged this issue. However, the only thing they did was whispered to each other with worried faces, they didn't communicated with their customers at all. My husband and l had shuttle bus booked at 9pm. To catch up our bus, we had no choice but leave the restaurant with empty stomach. But the reciption still tried to make us paid for the meal which didn't showed up.

The most stunning meal EVER! We had a few entrées and sides, which were a perfect main size for 3 of us. The Crispy potatoes and halloumi salad were the best! The staff were lovely, the place had a nice chill atmosphere and food was pretty quick. I would definitely recommend this place. Will defintly be back as soon as possible!

Reasonable breakfast buffet with friends here, enjoyed the variety of food and drinks. Shoutout to the fresh orange juice drinks - was famous and a fave to everyone. There was even a queue for everyone to get it. Creamy mushroom, baked beans, well done bacon and salmon were my fave. Welcoming and helpful staff, easy reservation over the phone and overall neat place. Well managed i should say, kudos.

I loved the service here, both at the bar and the restaurant. Polite, knowledgeable, attentive. Food was good - rustic fries at the (well-stocked) bar, followed by squid-ink linguine for dinner, with an excellent Hawkes Bay Chardonnay

Great staff and lovely service both at the bar and in the restaurant. Good quality local fare, we had the squid ink linguine and a well-matched wine. Would recommend as the preferred dinner option at Auckland International Airport.

We had what was promising to be a lovely afternoon after ordering a bottle of wine and a few snacks.i had just ordered our second bottle and was about to order dinner when the manager told us we had to leave because they thought they might have a busy night.there were still 15 open tables.entirely perplexing because we were getting ready to spend more money.now i can’t help but think they might have had a problem with us being gay…

Staff shortages have nothing to do with portion control and temperature of food. The buffet looked great on the menu - the reality was luke warm, substandard fare. Burgers and fish and chips small portions for $27 and $30 respectively. Cheese board embarrassingly small. If you've travelled you would cringe NZ showcasing our fare fell woefully short. Service was slow and we had to flag down help there really should be staff allocated to tables or areas. (Short-staffed or not guests need looking after). The staff were really lovely, Sheryl was brilliant.

Amazing range and variety, staff very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere pretty chilled as well, not extremely busy either, will definitely be back

How far you have fallen! We used to love a meal in the Novotel Auckland Airport before and after overseas trips.
We should have backed out when we joined a queue just to ask if we could have a drink at the bar as we were a little early for our 8pm booking. We were told that was fine but had to rejoin the queue when 8pm arrived! I queried this as we were already in the restaurant bar just to be told 'that's the way it is'. Anyway, had a drink, 8pm came round, rejoined the queue and got seated only to be ignored! Hubby asked for service which was reluctantly given. The waitress took our order but only for one of us! We didn't want buffet so chose fish and chips off the menu and got only one portion. They argued that only one was on their docket! I could go on. Anyhow, avoid the olives, tiny with all pip, no pulp. Chips were soggy, fish mushy. They need a leader and more appealing menu. Bring on the Pullman- hopefully they will have a good restaurant.

You can eat here to make your stomach stop growling but it won’t be enjoyable. The burger was very chewy and not fresh. The water has a funny taste. Their dry martini was one of the top worst drinks I have had to date.

My Family group 4 adults/ 2 kids eat there on January 2 as we were staying at the Novatel overnight. We arrived at approximately 0730 and the manager said she could not get us in right away so she told us to wait in the lobby for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes we approached the manger again and asked if we could sit at the bar and have a drink. She agreed and we sat down and two rounds of drinks. Keep in mind that the restaurant was not busy and there were multiple tables everywhere. So at 09: 00 my wife went back to the manager and asked when our table would be ready. She became annoyed and finally placed us at a table without menu's, glasses or cutlery. At this point the experience did become slightly better due to a waitress from Switzerland. (which was her first and last day working at this restaurant) She sorted us with menu's and apologized for how poorly we were treated and how poorly the resteraunt was being run. There were issues with wrong wines rose wine ordered and some sparkling rose coming out delivered from the bar and the food was very average. I had a Ceasar salad the other 4 adults shared pizzas. The pizzas were small and very average at best. The bar did give us 2 more wines on the house but the experience is not something you would expect when your staying at the Novatel. Lesson learned for next time we are overnighting with early flights out of Auckland.

Food was of poor quality. The mushroom falafel looked like it had been microwaved and previously frozen. The greens on the salad looked old and store bought. My kids chicken fingers were likewise processed and not fresh at all. The service was lacking and staff that appears lost. I understand that staffing shortages are impacting the service industry but this was particularly lackluster in all aspects.

Waited an hour and 30 mins to get our meals. We asked during this time if they were coming and we were told "not too long". We had to ask again only to be told the order was never put through. The waitress thought it was quite funny however we were not amused as very tired and hungry after a day of travel. When my steak came it was very rare instead of medium rare. No compensation and no apology. Overall bad experience for us and won't be returning when we stay here again soon.

We had a fantastic breakfast this morning! Our order was taken promptly, the staff were lovely and friendly and the food 5 star! Our eggs were cooked to perfection, they replaced the smoke salmon promptly and it tasted amazing.
After lots of travel recently this breakfast rates the best. Well done team.
