Had a delicious grilled snapper and salad from here last week. Quick service and one of the nicest fish takeaways I've had in Auckland.

I came here because of the excellent reviews and it met, nay, absolutely surpassed my expectations. I ordered the fresh snapper and combo potato and kumara fries and ate it in the little corner park across the road and it was so good I had to go back to tell the owner how happy I was! Fish was fresh AF, not too heavily battered, and the chippies were crunchy and perfectly cooked! Definitely worth driving all the way from Wattle Downs in Auckland traffic for.

So hard to find a good fish and chips… look no further this is Seriously the best fish and chips we’ve had in Auckland. We have been here several times and it never missed the mark!
The chips are crispy, fluffy centered, golden and not oily.
The servings are Generous!
We had a lamb burger, cheese burger loaded fries, crab stick and hot dog. The photos don’t do it justice.

Always surprised at how good the fish and chip take-aways are here. Big serves and nice and fresh. Tonight we ordered the Hoki, chips and kumara chips. Hoki was cooked well, nice and crispy, not too oily. The chips were generous in portion and still crispy. Recommend this gem.

Ordered the snapper and Panko crumbs and the fish was excellent! Nice touches like the home-made Tartare sauce, parsley, and lemon wedges. Kumera chips great, milkshake great (with a decent straw) would definitely get takeaways from here again.

The best fish and chips! We got squid, hotdogs, fish, chips, and a burger and everything was so fresh and the batter was amazing. Great service too!

Restaurant quality fish and chips. Highly recommend this place, trying to think of any constructive criticism to give and there is none. Just truly money spent well.

Fish & chips was delicious although the fish batter for me was a bit thick & had a oily taste but in saying that it wasn't bad as the fish was well cooked and chunky.
The Fish burger was nice although the fish in it is maybe a bit thick for myself.
I enjoyed it with a pickle in every bite.
Onion rings are delicious.
Squid cooked perfectly!
Cheezy weezy chips was delicious.
Scallops were delicious.
Homemade tartare sauce was very nice.
Highly recommend.
We enjoyed our feed and will be back to try a beef burger next.

Absolutely hands down amazing. Food fresh hot and cooked to perfection. Service outstanding it was bucketing down with rain and the person that served me where I was parked and told me I could wait in my car and he bought it out this service was something I’ve not ever experienced. Thank you and thank you for the amazing food! Loving the cheese sauce.

A must try to all fish burger hunters.

Tipene’s has some of the best hot chips around (stake cut, dusted in parsley, perfect level of salt and crunch). And don’t worry about breaking the bank, ten buck burgers that are great sizes and quality.

Surprisingly some of the fluffiest and delicious curry puffs around too.

It has friendly staff that really seem to take pride in the food they make.

If you are looking for a fish and chip shop that feels like home look no further than Tipene’s.

I ordered the Grilled fish and chips and Beef burger. The fish was moist on the inside, while the chips were golden and crispy. The beef patty was juicy and the special sauce adds a unique and delicious flavour to the burger. The combination of the sauce, beef patty, and soft bun make for a burger that is both satisfying and enjoyable to eat. The portion sizes are generous, and the prices are reasonable. Overall, I highly recommend Tipene's Takeaway for anyone looking for a tasty and affordable meal!

Cool as bohemian joint with no frills good food. The attitude was friendly as. The fish and chips we got was 1-a good deal with Kumara fries, chips and a herb aolli. 2-the actual fish was so crispy and light so a far cry from the usual stodgy wet batter you get at other places. Enjoyed the graffiti walls and unpretentious nature of it all. Oh and my daughter's grilled fish actually came with salad A1 fish and chippie with an adventurous edge!

Really cool. Fresh ingredients. Great service from Michael. Would be lovely to open it out and see food being cooked. Funky vibe. Great little accompaniment sauces and fresh lemon and parsley. Very generous portions - we so over ordered! Fish - Blue Moki- very sweet and fresh. Two pieces for each order. We tried crumbed and battered - both as good.
Tried the deep fried Oreos and pineapple rings- enough dessert for a family never mind a couple! Very tasty. Sorry no photos- wasn’t going to wait around doing that with yummy food in front of us!

Excellent fish and chips. The place itself has unconventional decor but the customer service is great and food was too. I only had the fish and chips, which came with heaps of lemon and house made tartar sauce which was yummy (I usually don't like it much). Would recommend but order ahead at busy times or you're in for a wait
