Urban Soul Cafe and Bistro reviews
70Brought in a group of elderly who haven't stopped talking about how much they enjoyed the food and how it was such a beautiful cafe.
Has this place changed owners?
Very poor compared with what it once was.
I have never had a chicken fettuccine with an Asian flavour.
Food ordered and paid for forgotten by the server.
Fries supposed to be on hold brought out too early.
But the coffee was good.
Very disappointing.
Most times, everything bang on. Occasionally a meal might not be what we normally expect. But will continue to go. Overall pretty good. Go easy on the msg - you don't need so much.
Overall a nice place, nice decor, has huge potential even though it is still busy. For the whole table everything was there but something missing or something under par, poached eggs should have runny yolk (not hard), chicken and waffles over cooked, Wagyu Burger should be juicy, do I cross the highway to many other cafes or do I come back and try again….
Been here twice now. The eggs bene a classic favourite and the mushroom on toast is also delicious! Great coffee and nice Cafe to have brunch
Got the big breakfast. Poached eggs dead cold by the time i got them also they were overcooked and yoke completely hard basically a hard boiled egg. Hash brown very overcooked also - just fried way too long they were crispy and oily all the way through no nice potato centre. Then ironically the tomato was very undercooked and basically raw with a sauteed skin - it was still very hard most of the way through. Service from staff was pretty good and enjoyed the coffee and walnut and banana mufffin but at $67 for my wife, son and i and i left there thinking i should have just gone to mcdonalds in Karaka and saved 50% of my money.
It was a lovely experience visiting urban soul cafe for the first time, had a super delicious beef brisket burger which definitely satisfied my hearty appetite. The long black also satisfied my caffeine cravings. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to have a casual coffee but also to those who want to have a bit more than just a quick coffee run.
First time here, the place look wonderful and invited, the coffee little bit to strong for me, we ask for 2 beef burger, and just come one, my mistake when I payd didn't check, anyway the beef on the burger was burn and of course really dried, as a chef my shelf, that is completely disappointed, hope that can be changed soon
Great staff who were very accommodating with one of our party who accidentally ordered something she is allergic to. They swapped it for her and didn't charge extra! Awesome service and the food was delicious to boot!
Only dropped into for a snack and a coffee, lovely food and very helpful pleasant staff.
Will go back for a proper dinner, love to sit upstairs.
Very popular spot in the weekends. We came with a group of 15 on a Sunday morning and you definitely need to book ahead. Our orders were taken promptly and food didn't take too long to come out. Good size portions, value for money and excellent coffee as well. I would recommend it if you are out this way
Went for lunch today. Food good, service shocking. I ordered meal from cabinet and my wife ordered a meal from the menu. We also ordered 2 glasses of wine. My wife's meal arrived and she finished it before mine arrived. We had both finished our meals before the wine arrived. Would have been nice to have had wine with meal.
Great location at Karaka. Coffee great. Food usually good, but have had the occasional disappointment in the cabinet food.
Great food, and the staff at the counter were lovely, however one waitress seemed very demanding. She bought over our coffee and asked if that was it, to which we responded no, we have food and a child’s hot chocolate coming. She asked if I was sure, which having just ordered, yes I was sure. Food came out promptly, however we had only just started eating when the waitress came over to ask if we were done yet. We advised no, we had just started, to which we were then told she would give us a couple more minutes then. This one person made us feel uncomfortable and rushed, and seemed to have quite a rude attitude. Had it not been for this lack of customer service it would have been a lovely breakfast dining experience.
Winter porridge was so average. Flavorless and the winter fruits didn't seem eintery to me, I dont associate kuei and grape with winter, seem kinda summery
Mother's day Rush but still service is top notch beyond. All staffs are on to it. Well presented and awesome in preparation. Coffee's are hot and my style too. Hats off to management team.
After reading some reviews I must admit I was a bit apprenshive about booking but honestly so glad we did.
Food was excellent and our water Mitch was great.
Will definitely be returning.
A fantastic experience all round. Good food, great interactive staff service and now a favourite choice of eatery for my family
Yes I liked. The coffee (Ozone) was good. Had decaffeinated because it was afternoon. Was quite busy at around 1.15 still but soon thinned out after 1: 30pm. Service was friendly and helpful.
A very busy cafe indeed. And possibly because there isn't much else around.
It's hard to find a table and when you do chances are it's not cleaned. So you'll have to ask someone to clean it. The staff are friendly and they'll do it right away. That isn't really the downfall though it's the food.
You're paying good money for a burger, eggs benny, or fish and chips, etc.
The burger is supposedly a Wagyu Beef burger. I'm someone who eats quite a bit of red meat and especially wagyu beef. Wagyu beef is usually very marble like. It tastes lile butter and even minced in a patty into a burger it's super juice. What I got looked like basic mince from the local butcher. Any chef or any person who runs a restaurant will tell you that it is not wagyu beef.
The food took about 30 minutes to come out - which is fine because like I said it is a busy cafe. But the food was on the warm - cold side. Fries looked like they had been double fried and were super hard. Fish in the fish and chips was cold.
Front of house staff are friendly and coffee was good. Might be back for a cuppa but maybe not for lunch.
