Waiheke Community Art Gallery reviews
22Although it is a free art gallery, there are many works on display that are worth seeing. The dishes in the souvenir corner are so cute that I want them.
Great little gallery and community Centre. Cinema downstairs is a treat. Library has a great selection and great facilities.
It was free. That's always a plus. There is a donation box if you're so inclined. That's also a plus. It's very diverse, showcasing the very different worldviews of the inhabitants of Waiheke Island. That is a big plus, because it is very insightful. The art is actually for sale, and if anything gets sold, the artist gets the chance to make another one. That's just awesome. I just like the idea of creating this space for artists to exhibit their works to the world and a space for the world to enjoy free art. It's a great meeting place that meets the needs of everybody involved. Design wise, it's ideal.
There was an exhibition of local artists, some quite good. The gift shop had quality kiwi items to purchase too. Friendly staff.
So relaxing was nice that you booked in and then they actually clear the place out at the end of your time slot so it means it never gets too crowded.
Beautiful Gallery with lots of pieces by local artists.
Recommend the Sculpture on the Gulf walks!
Small but perfectly done. A nice completion to the Sculpture in the Gulf your, had some beautiful work representative of the art you had just experienced on the tour. Bit too dear for me but loved it.
Very nice examples of the talent to be found on Waiheke Island at this central point with a really nice display. Helps when you haven't got the time to go to each and every studio. You can see sone artworks from most of the artists here and then decide which ones to visit at their respective studio sites. There are many to choose from so if you can see some examples it saves a lot of driving around the Island allowing time to visit many other attractions such as the beautiful and plentiful beaches and especially the wineries, especially those with restaurants for lunches and dinners, Just so much to see and do, that even the week we are here for won't allow anywhere enough time, which we don't mind, gives us an easy excuse to come back many more times.
Delicious food but best of all (by a narrow margin) was the friendly helpful staff. The photo shows the neighbouring table set up for tasting and tapas. Definitely recommend.
Thank-you for holding onto the denim jacket. I will be back shortly! (You weren't open on Wednesday)
Very well set up with a variety of quality pieces displayed. Very good facilities for travellers.
I have been here a few times now and I love the service and all the art work that has been out up. There are some pros and cons with this place, a couple of the cons are got to do with the toilet s and how their isn't much toilet paper there when I need it it's no where to be seen plus the consistency is poor and so thin so yeah.
3 star thanks for your understanding.
Kind Regards
Mishae Va'a
It was a bit meh tbh. Quite small, I recommend you check out their local shops and eateries instead.
Wonderful place to visit. Just wish we had more time though. Next time, 5 stars from us. Ok make it 6.
Waiheke island has a great artist community and this reflects very well with the exhibition here
Cool range of sculptures.
Really well organized, especially the cheap shuttle bus and toilet availability.
Great place with pieces from many different local artist at reasonable prices. It is run as a coop and has (in addition to to the shop) changing exhibits. Definitely worth a visit.
We never miss a visit to the gallery when visiting Waiheke. High quality exhibitions that change often through the year and suit a wide range of interests and sale prices. The shop has got to be the best place on Waiheke to by a gift that's great quality, a little different and artist created.
A world-class gallery with amazing exhibits – from Waiheke Island and New Zealand – featuring prominent and celebrated artists, sculptors, craftspeople and creators. Impressive gift shop with well-priced treasures for discerning collectors and art lovers. Wonderful staff, very professional and friendly. Worth the trip to Waiheke Island alone!
