Gengy's BBQ buffet Restaurant

I love Gengis and the staff here they are all so lovely and have a great selection of meats/seafoods/vegetables (marinated or not) aswell as sauces/oils and other already cooked and prepared foods. The chefs are great and also cook the pancakes and meals infront of you.

The food was great, plenty of choice
The service was excellent
The atmosphere was ok, but uncontrolled children spoilt it a bit

All the meats were delicious as. So many to choose from.seafood was fresh. Very clean and tip top service. Polite and friendly staff. Value for money. Highly recommend

Love this place. The food is amazing and cooked perfectly while you watch. The service can't be faulted as all. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 for Atmosphere is because it's so popular and busy it can get noisy

Went here about 8 times already and everytime the place was jam packed and the idea of mixing flavors for your dish seems like a great idea until you mix up the sauces because of the pressure of the long line of people waiting for you. Dont come on a weekend if you want to enjoy i guess. The precooked stuff was pretty good though and they gave lollies to kids. Overall good family vibe going around. But I wouldnt choose the place for any birthday venue. Even though they just charge you 1$ if your celebrating your birthday on the day you come in. Suggest to give it a try though if you havent gone yet.

Food is good, keep it simple when it comes to selecting your ingredients otherwise it just becomes a plate full of everything without anything standing out.
A touch crowded but I guess that's popularity.

Probably the best Gengys brunch I've been to. We went here for dinner lastnight (30.10.2022) to celebrate my sister's birthday and the whole experience was great. Very spacious and clean restaurant. The service is fast and food was delicious. The food was well cooked and lots of different options.

Gengys accommodated us (Turning Point Trust) as a group of 70, for a special Christmas Lunch that was pre-arranged. The staff were very friendly and personable, extending special assistance to customers who had mobility issues, by bringing their food to them, and by chatting to us.
They cooked the bbq food quickly and efficiently, so everyone was able to start eating their lunch in a timely fashion, despite the large amount of people present. They were smiling while handing us our individual meals. They cleared empty plates very quickly, so our tables were never cluttered.
We had a great time! The room was not too noisy and overstimulating. Gengys Tauranga, we appreciate all you did to facilitate a special lunch for us.

Went to Gengy's for a family reunion. Had a really great time there. Love the fact that you can choose exactly what you want to eat and then watch as they cook your meal while you wait. Great selection of choices of food. Absolutely loved the seafood chowder, and the pancakes with a great selection of toppings. The staff were friendly and helpful and the place was clean, Also liked the fact that it is a family restaurant and you didn't have to get 'dressed up' to go there, Great restaurant, great service and good prices, I highly recommend Gengy's as a great night out.

Got a last minute early booking, did was fresh and plentiful, staff friendly. Would definitely go back

It was my first time there. The food was great and the waitresses were wonderful in keeping the tables cleared and having a lovely smile. As for my food experience. Well that can only be described as wonderful. You got to choose what you wanted in your food etc and then you got to enjoy the experience of watching it being cooked. I must say that the whole experience was without doubt lovely. I would definitely go back there again and also recommend to others.

Always love Gengys but the Tauranga restaurant was noisy to the point where I felt our conversations with my family were straight yelling! We were also asked 'When are you leaving because people are waiting for a table'. Never, ever had that questioned to me in a restaurant. Very rude. I would've given Gengys Tauranga a 1 star if the food wasn't so good!

Great experience. Lots of meat, salads, sauces etc to choose from and one of the guys cooks it for you on a large hotplate. Go for seconds, thirds and more, but you get full quick!

Great dining experience with the family. Always love coming here. So much on offer on the buffet. You can watch the chefs cook your meals on the wok. Staff are very friendly.

My son wanted to have his birthday here. Everyone loved it! Great place for the whole family. Delicious food buffet and awesome service! Definitely on my list for dining out. High recommended!

Great place. Good food, very prompt. Nice service. Good luck trying to eat them out. A range of options. Loved that it's a build your own meal (you pick each element of your meal, make your own sauce and then they cook it for you live - doesn't take long). Great concept, easy to get on board with. Would recommend. Not sure the price as I wasn't the one that paid.
