In the heart of a thriving culinary kaleidoscope, there lies an uncharted treasure known as this delectable Mexican establishment. A realm that conjures not just flavors, but a symphony of gastronomic adventures, enchanting those lucky enough to stumble upon it. A clandestine sanctuary, so-to-speak, undisturbed by the hustling crowd, unmarred by the commonplace clamor, a true hidden gem in the urban culinary fabric.

The pizzas here are not mere compositions of bread, cheese, and sauce, but masterpieces intricately designed by the virtuosic hands of seasoned craftsmen. It is a tour de force of an extravaganza that spans from the rich cornucopia of Mexico's bountiful lands, captured under a layer of inviting, molten cheese, and brilliantly concocted sauce. Each bite is a promenade through the vibrant streets of Mexico, with flavors as captivating as the country's rich heritage and stunning landscapes.

And the deals, oh the deals! They are generous offerings, blessings bestowed upon the fortunate patrons by the gracious hosts. Imagine a gilded cornucopia brimming with the most exquisite food, and yet, one that does not demand the emptying of pockets. It is a testament to the authentic Mexican generosity, a testament that resonates with each peso spent, ensuring every customer not only leaves with a full belly but a spirit glowing with satisfaction.

But, despite its culinary wizardry and customer-friendly deals, the restaurant remains blissfully serene. A kind of solitude reigns here that only heightens the sensory experiences, allowing each visitor to focus on the flavorful journey without the cacophony of a bustling crowd. It is a tranquil oasis amidst the chaos of the city, a place where you can not only savor a great meal but also enjoy the rare luxury of quietude.

In conclusion, this Mexican restaurant stands as a beacon of gastronomic excellence, an unsung hero amidst culinary titans. So, for those who dare to venture off the beaten path, a fantastic pizza experience awaits you, wrapped in enchanting solitude and attractive deals. The secret might be out, but the enchantment of this hidden gem remains unscathed, promising a memorable culinary voyage with every visit.

Firstly the good, cocktails were nice
Friendly staff.

Ordered nachos, next to no toppings basically just cornchips
Asked for hot sauce and received a chutney like sauce with no heat.
Would expect a Mexican restaurant to have an array of traditional hot sauces available.

Upon paying the bill was asked to pay extra for the 'hot' sauce which thankfully was removed from the bill.

Probably won't go back.
Few tweaks and it could be decent.

We were a party of four on a blustery Sunday evening on holiday in Tauranga and La Mexica caught our eye, looking like an authentic, run-down little cantina in Distrito Federal in Mexico. What it lacked in freshness it made up for in a generous menu and Coronas. The music segwayed seamlessly from Mexican soft rock and ballads to Indian romance, but really, the food was the star of the night. Generous portions and sizzling plates of goodness. We would go back, particularly if there were a few more of us to fill the place up a bit more.

They stole our jackets and those responsible for the premises did not care or let us in to check, bad atmosphere
"Edit*
I am convinced that it was the local workers themselves, after reading several reviews and seeing in person certain attitudes fit me, if you want to go it's fine, the end is the only Latino place in the area where you can have a good time, but be careful with your things and if you are women, do not expect the doormen to defend you if you are harassed, an ultra rancid place.

What a great place for pizza! I will definitely be coming back. Best price and service. Top tier. Only negative was lack of vegetarian options.

We went due to them being advertised in the entertainment book. However, when we went to pay they said they wouldn't honor the discount as they said they no longer accept them (no signs or anything nothing this). However, looking through reviews later the same complaint has been made over 2 years ago. Obviously, they are just using the entertainment book for the advertising.
The service was poor. We were the only customers but were barely acknowledged once our food had been ordered. We waited 15 minutes to order dessert but no one came, so we paid and left. Very disappointed and would never go back.

No Mexican food at all. Very poor customer service too, can't believe this tall grumpy Indian manager, who can't treat people with basic manners

I went to La Mexica looking for something different at night and it turns out that on Thursday night they have free bachata classes. I met lot of people, I have a great time and I found all the fun I was looking for. It was such a great night.
I recommend this place if you are new in Tauranga and have no plans at night, this one is a gooood one. Next time I'll probably go early to enjoy the food.

Food was authentic, service was great, and nice views too. Just needs some hot sauce such as Tapatio or Valentina. Tabasco is not Mexican hot sauce.

The food was pretty bland, and the meat didn't have a very fresh taste to it. Looked like a bit of a construction site inside with bits of walls missing and junk lying around. There wasn't much of a Mexican vibe there.

Eclectic. Pokies. Decent prices on jugs of standard beer. Funny ambience but was quiet for the family on Cinco de Mayo. Indian chef with Mexican food that was surprisingly good. Fantastic margarita. Worth a shot.

Great food. Good service. Not many people early Sunday evening so ambience a bit lacking but I'm sure they would like more customers too! Come.on down and enjoy a great Mexian meal.

Beautiful restaurant, gorgeous food, perfect margaritas! We had the place to ourselves due to bad weather and Tuesday night. We all tried something we had never had and wasn't disappointed. You feel the love put into the food. Dessert was amazing too. You have to visit this place! You won't regret it. Hardly any wait time for food or drinks and staff super friendly. Thank you for having us!
