Mehtab Indian Restaurant reviews
34Thankyou to the owner and her wonderful team. I have eaten at many Indian restaurants in my time and this restaurant is absolutely divine. My prawn Tika Masala was to die for. In these very hard times that small business's face I just like to say your food and team are truely a credit to you. A big thankyou from me.
Okay so I go and place an order. The sweet little girl behind the counter clearly out of her depth, but doing her best processed the order. She's pleasant and polite.
Some rather rude bit*h that was too interested in texting on her phone as I walked in, delivered my drink and said "She made a mistake so you owe us $3" I'm like okay.
As the meal was delivered I asked for the receipt for what I have paid for? "Humm yes later" the girl responds
So I order another drink and asked for the receipt again and the answer was "Yes later at the end" I'm like nah I'd like to sort it out now please print out what I have paid for so I can pay for what I need to. The lady owner took massive offence and kicked me out before I could finish my meal and drink.
She demanded that I paid before I left to which I responded with "okay but I want to finish my meal first". She called 111 and walked next door to the police which I was following to let them know my side of the story.
100 meters down the road the Talisman restaurant was so busy that it was going to take 45mins for a meal, hence why I wanted to find somewhere else. BIG MISTAKE! Just go there and relax it's amazing food!
Food =2 maximum I've had better packet meals from the supermarket
Ambiance =1
Service =1 and that's just for the little girl that took my order
Recommendation is DON'T GO HERE!
Katikati is fortunate to have such a good Indian Restaurant consistently good curries, Butter chickens very nice but try other things in the Menu, Methi Chickens good as well. I order a curry from here every week or so and they’re consistently of high quality
Such amazing service, always happy to see us, good communication, makes our food perfect to order, very happy with our dinner tonight delicious
A very rude lady is working there. Very poor customer service! The food was disgusting
Wouldn’t recommend it
A lovely warm shop on entering on a chilly evening. A lot to chose from on menu and helpful well manered staff. The food was enjoyable.
Really delicious meals, thank you. Very good selection of vegetarian and meat dishes. We ate it all - it was so yummy. Waited in the shop for takeaway meals about 30 mins, so if you're in a hurry phone ahead.
Picked up Takeaways tonight. Ordered butter chicken and Jalfrezi. Really enjoyed Jalfrezi. If you haven't tried give it a go, they are really good at it.
Thanks so much for a delicious dinner. I've included some before and after photos.
Ust ordered from methab ordered one large mild butterchicken one small mild butter chicken. Recieved one extra spicey medium and one small extra spicey. Rung immediately to try and get the order sorted as it is uneatable and was informed that there is no gas and they cant remake it. So i asked for a refund which the owner has refused to give. By the look of there facebook page this is a regular occurrence. Worst customer service i have ever experienced
Favorite place for Indian in Katikati, it's the nicest butter chicken and naan by far. Great service.
Nice food.
Shame.the butter chicken was so sweet it tasted more like a dessert, the chicken was dry and tough. Unfriendly service and felt like we had interrupted, oh and don't try to phone them there is no voice mail and no one answers. Try Taste of Punjab much better by far!
Hi everyone so I love my Indian food and I am also very fussy with taste of my food. I had chicken Tikka here today and I have to say honestly it was one of the best I have ever had. This shop I highly recommend as you will see once you eat here that it is money well spent. I will be going back whenever I want some good Indian food.
Thank you so much
ONE OF THE WROST PLACE TO GO EVER. TOTALLY WROST EXPERIENCE IN REGARDS TO FOOD AND CUSTOMERS SERVICE. WOULD RECOMMEND OTHER NOT TO TRY.
Rude and coughing while serving. The lady working front of house took her passive aggression out on us as she dumped our plates on the table. If she wants to work in hospitality, be hospitable. This was not a welcoming visit to Katikati. She was also coughing every 30 seconds for the entire time we dined at the restaurant. Had I been more reasonable I would have not touched the food and vacated without payment. Suggest you sell the business to someone who is interested in customer service.
I've been to a lot of indian shops in the Bay of Plenty. I used to work at a couple that imported their chefs from India. I've sat in the Gurdwara and enjoyed the finest lungar. I know what authentic Indian cuisine should taste like.
I've been here a few times and tried a few different meals. The kormas are a funny colour and did not taste like cashew nut gravy. The buttered chicken and paneer are overly sweet and do not taste tomato based. Most of the mains are off in flavour, texture, and colour and are not really worth mentioning in a delightful way.
The appertisers are good, the vege' samosas are nice, the restaurant is clean and has a comforting vibe'. Customer service, well. Is customer service. Professionalism is more needed by their waiters. The menu on their facebook page is misleading. In regards to the menu and quality food you can buy. They are slightly over priced.
We were welcomed with an ugly customer service from the main lady that's running the restaurant. Instead of properly directing us to our table, she rudely said to us "that's your table! ". She doesn't want to give a high chair because the table next to us is booked. Which was never occupied even after finishing our dinner. Luckily the guy gave it before we start eating but the kid doesn't want to sit in it anymore. Ordered 4 mains and all tasteless and flavourless. You would love their buttermilk if you want stones in your bladder!
Phone ordered 40 min before going in, waited 10 min got told to wait 5 more.so i waited another 20 and got ignored when i asked about my food.
Excellent dinner. Heat per dish spot on. Flavours lovely. Only a couple of minor comments. They were slightly slow on service but only by about 10 mins. Would have been nice to get some complimentary pompadoms while waiting and for me I like naans a bit thicker but others liked it as is. Would have given them 4 1/2 if u could enter half scores
Very disappointed 1 curry was very salty and all 3 curries tasted like they were made from the same sauce, have had lunch from there before first time have had an evening meal but will be the last time.
Pathetic experience. The chef don’t even know whats on menu, I had ordered Kashmiri Pulao and little did the guys realised that I can hear them in waiting area and chef says whats kashmiri rice it must be coconut rice, but I was listening to whole conversation and waited patiently to see if it actually is what I ordered and nope guy just added coconut and some spices and thats all reheated rice.
Also the guy on reception was extreme rude knows nothing about how to treat customers in Hospitality industry felt more like arrogance more than generous way of addressing customer, on and on horrific experience.
This does not stop here, when the order was ready the guy just slides the container and says take it.
I have whole time in world dear owner if you are reading this am definitely reporting you guys to food safety industry.
