Zeytin Cafe

Zeytin have been hosting the cabaret "Allo, Allo" based on the TV comedy series (English comedy set in WW2 France). A show with a three course dinner. The show is fantastic, well worth while, well acted. The dinner was good solid fare, in line with the theme, and the dessert (creme brulee) was lovely. I recommend dinner at Zeytin.

Dined in for dinner and wasn't impressed at all Entrees and desserts were terrible however the main was nice. What really left me disappointed was the fact they had a new waitress on and I didn't like the way she was being spoken to by the chef. Absolutely disgusting that you would make her feel awful on her first night because of your own stresses. It was bad enough she had to put up with rude customers who were annoyed at the long wait but for you to treat her that way is yukk Would never dine here again

Literally one of the worse experiences of my life!
I do travel frequently for work and have never been treated in such way!
I ordered a Pizza with some chilli on side, the gentleman at the counter was welcoming and well mannered. Waited for my Pizza as usual and here she comes throwing the plate on the table!
I first ignored the act and i asked for some chilli politely when she suddenly went ballistic and confronting! I have asked if anything was ok which led her to disrespectfully serve another table in the corner and storm off the restaurant hall.the gentleman noticed and offered a refund as i was prepared to leave the food (after a single bite) and walk off which i refused, someone must be paid for the work they did of course!
anyway, definitely my last visit!

We had been there before and it was wonderful. Not so this time. We were the only customers in there, when we arrived. I ordered a chicken caesar and hubbie ordered a chicken parmy. Basic. It took ages and my caesar arrived without chicken, no caesar dressing (had balsamic dressing instead). My hubby went to the counter and asked if we could please have either the missing chicken or some reduction in the cost of the chicken caesar. Next thing, the lady working in the kitchen brought out a ridiculous amount of cold chicken and a partial refund. She put them down, said nothing and walked off.
I did not expect to receive both, nor did I want both but after no apology and very poor customer service, I did. Sad thing is we will now never go back. Can live with food stuff ups but bad customer service is not how to win customers.

Omg, booked for 11 people for my husband's birthday and the lady that took the booking enquired if it was for a special occasion, I replied with its my husband birthday and she asked if I wanted a small cake made for him, I replied she thank you, she asked what flavor. On the night a very big carrot cake came to the table with a candle, to later finding out that the owner made it and didn't charge me for this cake. Wow, what can I say, the owner absolutely made a wonderful night, just next level. Thank you Zeytin

Worst meal ever could not eat it went home for dinner still had to pay $107 never going back wouldn't recommend to anyone

I hate writing bad reviews and try not to as much as possible but this has to be shared. We stayed at the Mount just after New Years. This place was empty and it was around 10-Ish so we thought we would see what we could find for a late breakfast. Upon asking a lot of the things weren’t available. We thought maybe as it wasn’t lunch time? But the person making the pizza (who was lovely) told us she would make us a pizza - explaining the dough might not be perfect. Which we were fine with. We had a couple slices. And politely asked the person waiting the tables ‘aggressively’ if we could possible have a takeaway box for our uneaten pizza her response “you’ll be lucky” I was so taken back I was trying to think of things that sounded similar? ! We left the pizza behind, I paid the bill and let the person behind the counter know what happened. He shrugged. Terrible service. We couldn’t have been any nicer.

Came for lunch with a friend and ordered a few dishes to share, the herb and garlic pizza starter was delicious, calamari perfectly cooked and the pumpkin cannelloni was superb! Definitely recommend. Staff are friendly and welcoming:)

7 of us went for lunch and were very impressed. The food was delicious and large serves. Totally recommend the antipasto platter! The service was impeccable. We will definitely be back again!

Whoever the lady was putting the tables out this morning needs an attitude check. My partner asked her politely if they were open and she couldn’t have been anymore cold with her response. “No. ” Never eaten here before and won’t even give it a go with people that depressed to be there lol

I had the worst pizza ever. Prawns overcooked and inedible. Long wait for meal and certainly under staffed

This place calls it self a cafe, but it is actually a really great restaurant and really good value for such high level food. We had a fantastic meal with starters, mains and desserts all being very good. Authentic with lovely flavours. Keep it up guys.

I don't write reviews but the Beef cheek ragu with rigatoni was not very nice.there was barely any meat in there. (not sure if that's how it's meant to be) my family said pizzas were average and chicken parmigiana was average.the sweet apple cider was about the nicest thing I had. The older man bringing us our drinks was a nice smiley fella though!

Like some others here, we looked in and saw this place was not busy and thought in time of Covid a safer bet. That's the best thing I can write as the food was poor and we would not return, sorry. I had beef cheek ragu with pasta that fell apart and the whole dish was in a sort of soup. It was not good to eat and whilst the pizzas seemed OK, my wife felt a bit bloated afterwards. There is probably a good reason this restaurant was not busy compared to others in the vicinity so at the moment I would look elsewhere.

There are pizzas and then there are wood fired pizzas and Zeytin provided great pizzas and a relaxed ambience

I’ve never written a bad review because I don’t like to mess with someone’s livelihood, but this deserves it. The food was so bad that it was hard to eat, even our toddler refused to eat the cheese pizza which should say a lot. We should have known it was going to be bad when it was empty while everywhere else was swamped.

The reason I chose to leave a review though, was the treatment we received by the woman who we assume is the owner. We watched several groups get offended by her and walk out. She was nice enough to us, but the next night, we accidentally sat at one of her outdoor tables while waiting on our ice cream next door and trying to nurse my infant. There were plenty of open tables so we didn’t really think twice or notice. She came over to tell us and we immediately apologized and got up to leave. Even though we were apologetic and moving immediately, she started getting incredibly ugly in front of my 5yo and 3yo. I tried to tell her we were there the night before, and enjoyed the food (yeah I was gonna lie, I felt guilty) but she kept going and cursing us out. I’ve never been treated that badly before in my life, I was humiliated and in complete disbelief.

So here’s the honest review of the food. The chicken parmigiana had zero flavor despite the interesting presentation and felt like I was chewing rubber. It was on a bed of plain dry salad rather than pasta and even a bit of olive oil would have gone a long way to making it edible. The cannelloni was truly was inedible. It was in a chewy crepe type wrapping that was hard to cut rather than pasta. I would have handled tortilla better than whatever the heck that was. The flavor was so bad that on my last bite in my attempt to eat it, I legitimately gagged.

We wasted money we don’t have on one nasty and horrible owner. She should not be in any type of service industry or working with people, let alone serving the garbage she was making.

We've been here many times over the past few years, sad to see the menu has changed. Really miss the Mediterranean menu as there's nothing else like that around. The Italian menu didn't meet our expectation by comparison and the food we ordered was very average. The seafood pasta lacked flavour, and the beef cheek pasta had almost no meat in it. The chicken parmigiana was nice. But we really REALLY miss the Mediterranean menu!

First time at this restaurant in Tauranga.very central.roomy and open.staff very helpful and friendly.excellent food.would go again.

What a wonderful little Cafe, extremely good food, we shared the Antipasto platter and it was one of the best we ever had. Very friendly service from the waiter and the chef was very approachable when I commented on how nice the whole experience was, we had a couple of nice wines and finnished with Two espressos and a lovely Tiramisu. The only slightly negative comment was the tiramisu had no alcohol (either Marsala or rum which would make it truly traditional,) we are new ti the mount and this will definitely be a regular for us. They also have a very tempting set menu Tuesday and Wed so we we definitely try that.

Zeytins Cafe Restaurant is situated in central Mount Maunganui township, it has a relaxed atmosphere and great staff the owners are really lovely people who provide really good service nothing ever a hassle for them another bonus is they have a BYO alcohol licence plus they just upgraded their menu which is amazing honestly its good food thats affordable its one of my top picks for restaurants in Mount Maunganui
