BARK Kennels & Cattery

My dog stayed there 3 days for the long weekend but is acting weird after I picked her up. She is walking with her tail down, stays in the corner and seems to be afraid of people. There is pee on her bed. And her nose was hurt. Not sure what happened but she was definitely not happy. My boyfriends parents dog stayed there too and is acting the same. Receptionist said there were 130 dogs in the kennel for the long weekend making me wonder if there were multiple dogs kept in the same unit for nights.

Friendly service and the dogs were happy to go back which is always a good sign! Easy online booking as well.

My dog loves it here, he is always happy with his time here, gets a lot of exercise and sometimes doesn't want to come home!

We would like to thank BARK Kennels team for taking care of our 2 dogs beyond our expectation while we were overseas for few weeks back in July-August 2023. We usually have our dogs boarding at BARK and they both love going there. This time was their first long-term stay at BARK. Unfortunately, one of our dogs felt ill and his condition was deteriorating. The BARK staff noticed this and monitored him and then took actioned by trying to ring our numbers, then emailed us so we would know they would take our dog to our vet clinic, which is on Papanui Road. He got medications and his condition improved the following day but still a week worth of medication to take. The staff also rang my family members to inform about what happened as well. We got updated by emails from BARK staff as well as from our family so we could continue our holiday without being so stressed about our dog's well-being. We could also check the FB post to see him and his little sister's photo updates. We're grateful they're looked after by BARK team. So thank you very much again. BARK Kennels team, you're a gem!

We've been taking our dog, Zuko, to Bark for a couple of years now. He loves going there and the staff are absolutely amazing. Never had any issues and would 100% recommend anyone trusting their pets with Bark. Thank you for taking such good care of our dog!

We’ve been using Bark for daycare and boarding for over a year. Our Giant Breed dog loves going there. The staff are friendly and we have always been happy with the care he gets. The outdoor space is fantastic.

First time turned out to be a fantastic choice - we were sweltering at our campsite, while Tui spent her time in and out of aircon and the pool!

Staff are friendly, facility is amazing. Totally blew my dogs mind. I was so nervous to leave my anxious dog there but they really knocked it out of the park. Wouldn't dream of taking my dog anywhere else now. Overnight stay left my dog in a really happy place so we are eagerly excited to give daycare a go. If you are considering a kennel for your fur baby, definitely go with this one. Absolutely worth the small drive out of town to put our babies where we know they'll be pampered and cared for so well.

Something else I noticed while we were there. I met the girl whose job it had been over Xmas to look after any dogs with issues. She had a friendly, but calm and strong personality and I could totally see how she'd be brilliant with those sorts of dogs. They've got the right people working there. My dog didn't have any issues there, but I definitely felt reassured she'd be in good hands if she had.

They sort social time into appropriate groups, so its not just a free for all.

Thank you again for showing my dog such a good time. She's exhausted and happy.exactly how any of us should be after an awesome getaway.

Bark Daycare has been amazing for us with a young dog we cant leave at home while we are at work, the love and attention is wonderful, and hes become such a social dog

Our 4yo goldie loves going to Bark kennels and always comes back exhausted after having a fun time! The staff are great too and have been so accommodating when we need for our doggo to stay. Highly recommend!

Five star service from our greeting at the door to picking Fergus up 3 days later. A highlight was seeing the photos of him playing with other dogs during his stay.
Highly recommend BARK and Fergus is very keen for his next stay. Thank you all for looking after him so well.

I have taken my dog to doggy daycare everyday for the past 8 months. The staff are nothing but accommodating, as well as super friendly. I dont trust many people with my dog, Bark staff have earnt mine. Id also like to respond Nheria Entena review - I find it really hard to believe that you had such a bad experience at Bark and gave them one star. My dogs been going there since Jan this years. The staff go out of there way to help people and their animals. I saw on your profile that you also left a negative comment on another business's page, perhaps it may not be the business which is the issue? Food for thought.

Rude and condescending receptionist. I don't come here often so i didn't know about the Monday to Friday policy for daycare however I was able to book it on their system and they have also confirmed it as well. I forgot that my dog's vaccination was a week overdue so I respect that in the end I won't be able to check him in for daycare / boarding however receptionist was very rude about it and she could've explained the rules to me clearly in a diplomatic way. Kindly improve your staff's people skills

Went to visit Bark Kennels before my dog go there and was really impressed, all kennels are a good size, lots of outside space, the person we spoke to was very friendly and gave us lots of information.

Ruby loves her days at Bark. She always arrives eager to start the day and leaves exhausted and happy. She's built a wonderful friendship with one of the carers dogs Nike and its always a highlight to see them in every photo together at the end of the day. She's always extremely excited to see Petra (She's not even that excited to see me). Bark provides a good service that not only we're happy with but our dog is extremely happy with as well
