Timaru Pet Resort

Pet Resort really like animals. They are genuine, caring people who enjoy looking after fur babies.

Our dog, Odie loves the Pet Resort! He goes just about every weekday. He recently cut his paw open on some glass when I was walking him down by the river and it had to be stitched up. I'm very grateful to Cherie, Brett, Juliette and the rest of the staff at the Pet Resort for giving him the love and care he has needed as he has been recovering. It's been a long couple of weeks staying off his paw, but he's just about ready to run again and everyone at the Pet Resort has gone out of their way to help him get there!

I’d like to preface my review saying that my dog has previously stayed at Pet Resort many times without issue, and I have previously been very happy.

However my dog recently had a 2 night stay, and at pick up time his eyes were swollen closed. We were told that the swelling had been noticed earlier in the day, but that it was not bothering him (although it was clear that he was in pain and there was discharge from his eyes). He also had scrapes around his muzzle. As we were not informed of the issue prior to pick up time, it was too late in the day to get vet care. His condition worsened significantly overnight before we were able to see a vet.

I do not hold Pet Resort accountable for whatever may have caused this. I understand that incidents happen. The issue is the poor judgement call made not to contact us when it was evident in the morning that something was abnormal. Had I known earlier, I could have changed my plans and collected him earlier to see a vet asap and mitigated the severity of his suffering.

I have since spoken to 2 staff members (I assume the owners) over the phone. Whilst it’s clear that they care about animals, I don’t think either person understood that my issue is the fact that they were aware of the swelling in the morning, and chose not to say anything until pick up time when it was too late to see a vet.

After 3 vet visits this week my boy is still suffering.

My girl has been to the resort quite a few times now, over a few years.
Always seems happy and tuckered out, when i pick her up.
Being a full on collie dog, with a bit of attitude, that says a lot.

Our dog had been going to doggy day care three days per week and as he is totally non aggressive and easy going he was placed in with all groups of dogs, including the wee ones as he is of no threat whatsoever. Until three weeks ago when he was attacked by a German Shepherd which was boarding at the kennels. The attack resulted in substantial injuries to our dog including a snapped off incisor tooth and puncture wounds. A staff member commented that the aggressor was the other dog. To date we have paid around $2000 in pets bills and not finished yet. We approached the owner if the business Cherie (spelling may be incorrect) asking for them to pay the account. This lady denied her staff said the german shepherd was at fault and then told us that our dog and ourselves are no longer welcome at her premises.

My two dogs love The Pet Resort and they enjoy their stay and make friends plus get fed Royal Canin food as well! I highly recommend!

My dog Tui has stayed here twice and she had a fantastic holiday:) any time we head down south from Christchurch, we drop her off on the way. Her humans are happy in the knowledge that our fur child is having an awesome time, which means we can too! Thanks and see you again soon for the next adventure?

Looks ok could tell the people care about animals and were friendly, am unsure about something to consider in regards to animals with their bits which may not be allowed its hard to say as only took someone their to get a dog before cutting them from my life again within 24 hours of recontact due to illict activities mentioned whilst he was drunk & do not want to be associated with the guy, plus reasons best unmentioned, yet the price mentioned seemed fair and included a discount because they were kind people and the pet resort was large / spent enough time their waiting and watching to see they are worth considering at the very least and are likely fantastic at a good price compared to other south island options

We have kennelled both our dogs here since we moved into the area. They both love it, down to one dog now and she's very happy to stay and loves the staff. Cherie and Brett are great people. Highly recommend it

Never again, my boy came home tramatized and 2.2kg lighter. Had to take him to the vet several $100's later. Phoned pet resort to try and find out what happened, apparently nothing they then lied and said it was the vets fault for allowing him to come back home with me REALLY! Terrible come back from you timaru pet resort trying to put all the blame back on me. Thankyou for not taking any responsibility. I booked in with you because we have moved to the area but in future I will be driving the extra distance to PAMPERED PETS in timaru. The name says it all. People should consult with there vet first as they know which boarding kennels have the best care.

Very poor. I will never take my animals back. Our dog came home ith curs on his fave and they weren't going g to say anything. We asked to keep our dogs separate but they put with other dogs. We had to take our dog to the vet as he was not the same dog as we left
He was so scared wouldn't eat. The vet said he was traumatized. Rung pet resort and they blamed us and hung up. And i paid for thatVery angry

Our dog loves the pet resort! After the first stay we didnt feel bad leaving him there he gets well looked after and the staff are lovely.

Thanks for looking after our boy Baxter over the weekend! We picked up a very relaxed, happy and tried dog! Great work team! We will be back!

Friendly staff that very obviously love the dogs.helpful and well organized for vaccinations.would certainly bring doggo back here again for our next holiday

This pet resort is fantastic the staff r so friendly an polite an the dogs r always very well looked after this place is now the one we will take Rusty too wen we go to chch would recommend to anyone A+A+A+

They were really good at dealing with my shy Rhodesian Ridgeback. Their facilities are good, if not the poshest and the people are really kind
