Thanks for your hospitality and friendliness.
We stayed here with a group and toured the island for a few days. Your attendance to our group with tours, fishing trips, transportation and meals was of a high standard and very much appreciated. Many thanks Toni and staff.

The fact that it's the only hotel in the island doesn't make it just an average hotel. The place is clean, the food is delicious and the service is excellent. You can tell Toni anything you want to do in the island and she will sort it out for you. I will definitely visit again!

The owner of this hotel is rude and treats her staff awfully. She even refers to them as dogs. She has been taken to court many of times for mistreating her staff. She doesn’t care about the islanders or the island it’s self, she only cares for her self and it shows. I must say she was an experience that I hope I never have to go through again. Please think twice before staying here and helping support this behaviour. The other accomodation on the island offers a true Chatham Island experience and treat customers and staff with the full respect they deserve.

10 years ago, Hotel Chats was really the only place to stay. Nowadays there are quite a few options, yet Hotel Chathams still come out on top. They know how to make sure you have a good stay.

The upstairs Queen rooms are beautiful, with stunning views across the Bay. Lovely bathrooms with quality linens. Everything is just comfortable and welcoming.

The staff are excellent, and not only passionate about the Hotel, but the Islands themselves. The food in the restaurant is amazing! I found the prices to be not too bad either, especially taking into account the remote location. Staff were very helpful in organising Day Excursions and also the Airport Transfers.

You cant go wrong with a stay at Hotel Chathams.:)

Had a wonderful stay here whilst on a tour. Wonderful meals and very helpful staff. The modern rooms are very good. The small single roomsdownstairs are clean and tidy and pleasant. The double rooms upstairs are magnificent, with a deck and a view of the harbour. Our room had a large comfortable king bed.

Wow, what an amazing experience we have just had over in the Chathams, we stayed at the Forget Me Not suites and had all our meals for 7 days at the Chatham Hotel restaurant. Fabulous meals, everyone we met were wonderful. Toni Croon is an amazing Hostess. Can not recommend enough.

Good, presentable, well run services (accommodation, vehicle hire, and tour activities) for guests and visitors to the island given the isolated location and environment (with the manager Toni hands on with the day to day running of the business and the tours).

However, Disagreements evident between hotel and some in the wider Chatham islands community with a couple of hosts at key tourist attractions citing lack of communication from hotel. (One incident with an angry farmer @ Basalt columns witnessed abruptly arriving in his front end loader, boarding the hotel bus and taking access key away)

What the Hotel lacks in detail and organisation, it more than makes up for in personality and charm. The room was

Food was great. Hospitality so-so. Rooms were changed on us on arrival without any notice creating a bit of stress. Told to take it or leave it. Really arrogant which was a shame. Rest of the island and people were awesome but our stay at this place was not great

This was life as it had been before 1970 in NZ. The room was cosy and comfortable but the weather hindered our use of the deck. Even so we had all we needed as we were out sightseeing or in the dining room eating and socialising. Staff were friendly and very competent, food was superb: succulent, tasty, fresh, imaginative. Noone goes to the Chathams to sit in their rooms and all our outings were organised by Toni who owns the hotel. It can't have been easy as we were always travelling onto private land to see special sites and Toni needed to negotiate access with owners. We were very lucky everyone was so obliging. (Thank you.) Frequently it meant we received last minute info about a day's activity but that was understandable, especially since many activities were weather dependant. Our guides were very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and went out of their way (sometimes literally) to make every trip a wonderful experience. How lucky we were also to be invited to homes and marae on the island. Oh, and buses were cleaned after every trip. (Necessary because though we experienced fine calm days we also had the slightly dubious fortune to experience a couple of days of what NZers believe is 'typical' Chathams weather.)
We had a truly wonderful time in a comfortable and friendly hotel.

Only licensed bar on the Chatham Island’s meals are expensive and take a long time to be delivered.

Ok it is the only game in town, BUT, they play a great game. Good old Kiwi pub grub: a bar menu and a restaurant, the food is great the staff are welcoming and the beer is nice and cold as it should be. In short a must do next time you visit paradice

We stayed at the hotel in March. Toni and Pipi are amazing hosts. The rooms were immaculate, they had everything we needed. The chef for the restaurant produced 5 star meals night after night. Could not recommend this place more highly. The upstairs rooms are worth the extra $.
The Chatham Islands are a very interesting part of NZ - a must see.

Excellent facilities, great staff, good food. Pub is a great place to sit, nurse a pint, have a bar meal and people watch. The view across Petre Bay is fantastic as is watching the sun rise and see the night sky.

Essential stop on your trip to the Chathams for a beer and blue cod. Dinner available 6-8pm, reasonable variety on the menu including cod, crayfish and steak (unlikely to have anything for vegetarians though). There's a small but well stocked gift shop open during the day.
