88 Fantastic venue for Dire Straits awesome vendors.all working staff.crowd!
And Napier turned on the best weather!
Church Road Winery was just okay. The people were nice and the decor inside is nice. Most of the tables for dining were indoors without a view of the winery which is a highlight of visiting a winery for lunch. There were only two outdoor benches to sit and view the winery. Another problem was they refuse to do a wine tasting as part of lunch. For this reason, we just got a glass of wine with lunch instead of experiencing a wine tasting which is the other main reason to visit a winery. Once outside, the landscape was more of a small mountain range with some houses and some industrial wine make equipment then the rows of vines you normally see at the winery. The kids menu had better choices for lunch and desert than the adult menu but they do not offer those items for adults or even a larger adult version. We have had much better experiences at other wineries so I recommend skipping Church Road.
Enjoyed some good wine and food in the pituresque setting. But check out other Hawkes Bay wineries though for better value for money.
Had lunch today at CRW and it was absolutely beautiful.the service was fantastic and the food was fabulous.
Well done team.we will be definitely coming back.
Counted down to a new year at this beautiful winery with my husband's extended family and we couldn't have been happier. Food was delicious, service was attentive, and the wine was of course exceptional. The green space next to the winery gave kids lots of room to explore which was wonderful. Will return!
A great tasting experience followed by a delicious lunch. Great helpful staff. Delicious sparkling wine and the affogato for dessert was fabulous.
Have just had lunch at Church Road! Absolutely Fantastic! The food was beautiful and the service from Marina was amazing - so friendly, welcoming and accomodating! The atmosphere was fab - will definitely be back in the future! Perfect summer spot on the patio for a cheese board and a wine on a summers afternoon
Beautiful location, wonderful customer service, great wines and an amazing platter for 2! Absolutely loved this
experience! A big thank you to Mary and Daniel.
Very nice day out, it's a bit dark inside but quite atmospheric. Outdoor spot was great for a bottle of wine and some cheese.
Darryl is absolutely amazing, thank you for making our visit fun and memorable. Darryl’s knowledge and way of explaining things is sensational. It is very clear he has genuine interest and passion for wine and ensuring visitors have an insight in to this. More importantly, Darryl adapted the tasting based on our likes but also kept options open to try different wines. Highly recommend a visit and a tasting session with Darryl.
Lovely atmosphere, and attentive staff. We had a great tasting experience, and would 100% go back.
Nice exterior and interior of the winery. Excellent wines and very good manager Marina. We are definitely going to come back.
When you bill yourself as a high-end food and wine destination and then only offer an absolute trash beer selection. Just why?
Great venu for a live concert and very well managed. The information for the event said no food, however when we arrived there was a sign saying picnics allowed but no commercial food. Would have been nice to know before arriving.
A highlight of our Napier stay. The wines were wonderful, the place is lovely and the customer service was the best. We had a tasting and enjoyed a cheese platter with local award winning cheese. So good, would love to go back again ️
My partner and I took my father in law here, he’s a wine enthusiast and very hard to impress. We had the lovely Anna take us through our wine tasting and my father in law absolutely loved her and the experience she gave us. She won him over instantly with her passion for wine, her “worldwide knowledge” and banter. Would absolutely visit again if we were to have Anna with us.
We booked for the wine tasting here and just end out walk off without it, we have done a road trip around and dress casual out going clothes, when we walked in there, there is no welcoming at all, even we have eye to eye to staff and stand aside to wait, feel like we have to dress up then we wont get the look down feeling, when we try to ask someone about the tasting, we then get the very arrogant feel.
There is so many wineries around and this obviously makes us feel so disappointed! After them we been to a few different places lucky nobody is like Church road! Will not recommend to anyone for this wineries dont think they like customer that dont wear fancy. What a sad experience
Other than the woman working there making me feel like a moron (I enjoy wine but obviously don't know know enough about it.), it was lovely. I enjoyed the tour also. Recommend booking it - they certainly love their founder, Tom McDonald, seems everything is about him. You learn a lot and see the inner workings of a winery. Beautiful spots outside to sit also.
A group of friends from all over the North Island came to Church Rd today for lunch. We were very much looking forward to it. When ordering drinks we were surprised that there was no sparkling water available for the non- drinkers and sober driver. On the whole the food was delicious, I certainly made great choices and was very happy. We looked to finish our lunch with coffee and were blown away to be told there was none. The reason we were given is that the caterer is changing on Monday. This didn’t really seem like a good reason - not hard to pop down to the supermarket to purchase some. Service was good, friendly without being overly attentive and recommendations for servings were appreciated. So, good, but as a non wine, but coffee drinker, the drinks were a bit off a bust for me. 3 stars might be a bit harsh but seriously, a restaurant with no coffee?
Maxine was an amazing host. Personable, knowledgeable and generous! Definitely didn't feel like a massive corporate vineyard.more like a family! Thanks for a wonderful experience
