We really enjoy the setting of this cafe but this is the second time we’ve been in here and there are flies crawling over the cabinet food. We were going to choose something from there but when we saw the flies we had to order off the menu instead.
The cabinet (if you can call it that) has no back on it so it’s a bit useless for keeping flies off food.
Would be nice if they upgraded this because the coffee is great.

First time I ever tried a tumeric latte - soooooo good! Very friendly staff and lovely spot. Whiskey porridge was to die for! I'll be back!

We were in Napier this past weekend and came in for brunch. Amazing staff and food! Next time I am in town I will definitely be coming back.

Rude girl serving really could tell she did not want to be there. Asked what cold drinks there were pointed to just one when asking what was the flavour she mumbled something I could not understand. Asked again and she turned away and visibly annoyed repeated it again purposely making it even more difficult to understand.
Won’t be returning

We went there for breakfast this morning service was ok but food was very subpa roastis were burnt and it seemed as if they had run out of hollandaise as there was barely enough to cover the eggs and was very disappointed when staff were not interested hearing about any of our complaints this cafe has really gone down hill in the last year or so will definitely not be eating there again.
Not to mention they were very rude when we went to pay for it with cash as apparently they are now cashless

I’m not one to complain but for the price you pay and the quality was simply unacceptable

Very rude staff food was average over cooked small portions when we complained staff were not interested and basically told us to go somewhere else if we didn’t like it, forgot my card and had to pay cash which did not go down well as apparently they a ‘cashless’ will not return

South African ladies get- together: Manager went way beyond usual service to accommodate our dietary needs. Food was VERY delicious, well presented and staff extra friendly. Great coffee too. Thanks, will definitely be back.

This is a 'go to' eatery for us when in the Bay. We recommended it to friends travelling through from the UK.

Coffee was really really good. They did well with hiring their barista! Outdoor seating is really nice. Indoor super modern. Great stuff.

Excellent service and delicious food, one of the best scrambled eggs and flat white coffee in Napier. Very unique Hangover Rice for the weekend people

I love coming here, mostly for the food and coffee.but the service.it takes a LONG TIME to get drinks and meals, have had to wait 35 to 45 mins sometimes.so that's a bit shocking.but the food is good

Crowded and noisy but the noise of people enjoying themselves. Excellent service, food and value

Food was not great chicken not cooked properly still raw in places.
Chen liver tasteless expensive too.

High hopes for this busy little cafe but disappointed.
Coffee burnt and not what I ordered, even when questioned was left with the wrong coffee and no replacement of correct coffee provided.
Potato cakes on the Benedict very over done in the fryer and basically dehydrated.

Im sorry but $18 for 3 small sized pancakes (doughy, cakey) and then pay separate $8.50 for bacon, to top it off pay seperate $3.50 for maple syrup, not a banana in site, all the above i would had paid $18 not $30 for one plate per person, complete rip off, went home dissatisfied and still hungry, wont be back.

The Hang Over fried rice is the 'go to' here, although my mates omelet looked pretty darn good as well.
Nice clean open atmosphere, attentive staff, although a little hard to hear through a Covid mask and with an accent, but generally, a good go to cafe. Certainly will go back when next in town.

Very nice lunch. 3 of us had fish n chips and 1 had eggs bene. All were great and so was the coffee and the service. Very nice friendly staff as well.

I had high expectations for Smith café, new to Napier and enjoying finding new places, the coffee was fabulous, food ok, some amazing - OMG toast is yum. What I was surprised at, and I don't mind paying good money for good food - but the pancakes were $30 for 3 piklet size, soggy with bacon and had to pay extra for maple syrup! All staff bar 1 were lovely; however one waitress was rude, spoke harshly to one of our group who got mixed up with his order (he has dementia) - I was so shocked. When I went to explain after, she presented as sarcastic and arrogant, the manager stood by and did nothing. Shame.

Pleasant waitstaff, fairly limited menu and we thought expensive for the lunches we had.
Nice outdoor setting.
Let down badly by the loos- the ‘oldfashioned’ roller towels were rolled to the ground in one loo and had finished in the other.

Loved the Korean chicken burger. Coffee was great. We were given a free cocktail which was awesome. Others had the fish and chips and the hangover rice and they said they amazeballs! We will go back. I love the gift shop was lovely to and reasonably priced too!
