Saffron Indian Restaurant reviews
37To dine in is awesome. Takeaway not so much. The $14 dinner special. 2 pieces of meat in the curry.and the Naan tasted like baking soda. Plain rice tasted funny. Not very nice at all. Asked for hot and wasn't.
The best Indian food ever, and we have eaten at quite a few. Yummy, tasty menu with all things you would expect to see. Service is wonderful, owners are great people. We regularly get takeaways from here and dine in occasionally. Small or big groups they will sort you out. We held a work do here and had a banquet.so much food! You won't be disappointed.
Good food. Good service.although disappointing to see what you recieved in the restaurant is NOT what you recieved takeaway. Disappointing takeaway. Great food dine in. And heat level isn't usually what you ask for.
Great food, great service but unfortunately over charged for drinks which made the night too expensive. Won't be going back anytime soon
Have been here a few times and quality and value of the meals have declined dramatically over the past few years. Pretty flavourless and very little meat pieces in the dishes. Very disappointing.
Bad food, bad service. Somehow added my email to their mailing list and will not remove it. It’s an all round no️
It took ages to get served. A group who had dined and finished their meal had to talley up theur own meal as the service took so long (it was only them and me there, so not busy)
My chicken biryani was average, and my cheese and garlic naan was burnt, dry, and hardly any cheese or garlic in it.
Fantastic service, excellent food and incredible background music. Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Hawkes Bay, possibly the world!
Have had takeway meals here a couple of time since moving to CHB, unfortunately, no matter if you order medium or hot, the hottest part of the meal is the paper bag it comes in. If you want something that looks like curry but has the heat of an icecube then this is for you. If you want a spicy indian meal (or even something with a bit of heat) you are better off going to New World and buying a pack to cook yourself. Two stars as the onion bahji was delicious.
The food is very good, even though the service can be bit slow when they are busy.
But it's all cooked from scratch with fresh herbs and spices and worth the wait if you have to. Great to have an asset like this in a small rural community. A great change from pies and standard pubgrub.
I don't know how they did it, but the lamb biryani is absolutely phenomenal. I tend to order takeaways, and usually end up with those little onion bhaji strands which I wish I could just have on tap at home.
Was a good size meal, however, it was quite watery and not a hint of heat to it considering i ordered hot.
Very fresh ingredients, very tasty meals, great service and chef's. Wide range menu. Dine in for the ultimate meal experience. Absolutely
Our first time here, and first impression was how spotlessly tidy and clean the restaurant is, and the spicy smells from the kitchen were enticing. Our family of 4 dined, having Goat Korma, Butter Chicken with the kids getting Fish & Chips and Nuggets & Chips, with Onion Bhaji, Garlic and Cheese Naan breads. The curries were very tasty, although the goat was a little chewy, which was the only fault I could take from the night. The kids were happy with their meals too. The counter staff and chef were friendly. We felt it was good value for money. We left happy and full, and would recommend Saffron.
Food is yum. However on a couple of occasions they have forgotten stuff in our order and we only realised once home.
My first Indian meal in such a long time, was it worth it definitely, our selection of dishes were so good, butter chicken, lamb korma, prawn masala, garlic naan, rice, munchies on.
While visiting family, visited Saffron for takeaways. Generous portion of the Vege Platter, tasty curry and naan bread - no complaints
Fantastic Indian food, great success. I had the mushroom mattar and onion kulcha naan, partner had vegetable korma. Fast service, delicious 5-star food
I ordered the butter chicken and chicken marsala, rice, naan and chocolate naan. I did not enjoy the butter chicken, as it was to sweet. Lots of sauce and not a lot of chicken. Chicken marsala was good. Good flavour and naan Ok. The chocolate naan I would go back for every day. That was the highlight of the meal.
