Lovely and spacious cafe. Indoor and outdoor seating. Great range of cabinet food plus more. Plenty of parking.

$20.80 for my mains mushrooms on chiabata. All I can say is it was laughable. Starter size main dish, two tiny bits of toasted chiabata, and no more than 3 to 4 cut up small white mushrooms. Just about the worst value food I've had in Aotearoa. Don't go if you're hungry!

Nice service, coffee, and hot drinks were delicious. Promptly served and the world famous in HB custard slice was a generous portion - 2 people shared and lived up to its reputation. Easy parking and easy access.

Very runny scrambled eggs on soggy bread un cooked sasauge on breakfast. But more to the point the staff are racist!

Great food very friendly staff a must to visit when in Hastings. Great Hawthorne coffee and don't forget the "famous custard slice"

Custard squares to die for service staff excellent professional and a pleasure to be served by. Food choices excellent plenty to choose from.

An absolutly wonderful bright place. The staff are happy friendly, welcoming. The cabinet food looked awesome & was beautifully presented. They also cater to allergies with food. Nothing was too much trouble. I had a GF Orange melt cookie & a long black. The coffee arrived with a big smile and was piping hot, it tasted amazing My husband had a large Mocha & Date scone. He said the scone was very light & tasted home made not shop brought. My cookie was melt in your mouth, light & fluffy.
I highly recomend this place it has now become my go to place for lunch, coffee date, any excuse really.

Second time to the cafe, after 1st time was amazing.
However very different experiences, as meals come out quick which was great but the bacon and eggs were not hot like just been cooked fresh but like it had been cooked earlier and heated as the bacon was cold and had to send back to kitchen to get heated again.
However on positive side the custard squares are amazing.

Could be a one off experience so will be back again for second chance. As could of been having operational issues

Serendipity had moved premises to 1412 Pakowhai Road. Great food very friendly staff a must to visit when in Hastings.

The older woman that serves behind the counter, I think maybe the manager, if not my apologies, but the woman with the pulled back grey hair has to be the 'RUDEST' person in customer service today, you should be grateful that people wish to spend their money with your business - happy to be spending mine elsewhere and also happy to never grace your doors again!

Well food was absolutely great. But left feeling really offended. Paid for it, and it had said declined. It must have been the machine because I could indeed pay for it. And the lady that was at the counter said “can you pay for the 51 dollars” the way she said it came across quite judgemental as if she was implying I was poor. I know I’m young, but wasn’t necessary. Made me not want to eat there, but I didn’t want her to think I was actually poor so I paid for it and left it at that. Won’t be going back again.

Always enjoy this out of the way Cafe. Lots of space & seating. Great food selection. Good parking. Nice and warm on a cold day. Just love it.

Came in yesterday for breakfast with my partner and we ordered x2 Pancakes.
They were cold and not made fresh for paying $20 each disappointing! The cream needs to be whipped fresh and not be stored over night in fridge. Please look at the pricing of things and think is it really value for money if things aren’t fresh.

First time for me and it was great. Friendly staff and great GF options. Definitely will be going back.

Beautiful outdoor space on a sunny day. Good range of tasty food from keto to vegetarian. Delicious coffee. Cater well for our large group of Ebike Social Riders Hawkes Bay.

Lovely lunch in the sunshine. Lamb kofta burger was wonderful accompanied with a fresh seasonal salad. Was great washed down with an orange juice but a wine sadly wasn't on the menu.

Every enjoyable afternoon with good friends, and a pleasure for the company. Big ups to the staff and enjoyable live music. Thank you very much!

Very disappointed had pancakes there this morning I reckon they were made yesterday and were very dry and awful and rock hard and cold

Gd selection of food and a gd service and a gd selection of seating inside and outside ND food reasonably priced

My husband and I had a lovely lunch here and I enjoyed it so much I am going back again today! Plenty of room, not sitting on top of each other. Service quick. Very good menu selection.
