Shed 2 on the Quay

When I booked at Shed 2, I saw in quotes “award winning menu” and was surprised when I walked in at 4: 45 and was able to make a booking for 7: 30 the same day. I was happy
We were seated at our table promptly, and nothing else would be done promptly for the rest of our experience.

We waited for about 15 mins to be served drinks (not even water, which was never served to the empty glasses on our table) and that was after I went to bar and asked if I had to order there.
We put in our food and drink order around 7: 40: one starter and the rest of food as mains. We got the drinks after 7 mins and the starter after 10 mins, no complaints there. This is when the problems started.

A pizza and a chicken burger was served to an empty table next to us, and I had to fend off seagulls thinking someone had gone to the bathroom while their food came. Eventually the closest to a manger there seemed to be at the place ridiculed a waitress and the waitress brought that food to the kitchen.

If our host or waitress had come to our table and said, “there’s an hour plus wait for food”, I wouldn’t have had any problem; however, 9 pm rolled around and I told the host (the waitresses had been avoiding eye contact and checking out table for about 45 mins at this point), “look if the food doesn’t come in 10 mins at this point, I’ll pay for the starter and the drinks” I paid the bill around 9: 10, afterwards we finished our drinks and left. We then went to McDonalds, cause at that point it was the only place that was still serving.

I’ve worked and still work in hospo since I was old enough to bus tables, I never get angry at staff cause it isn’t their fault and it doesn’t solve anything, but there was obviously a lack of organization or someone who wasn’t willing to admit they’d made a mistake with our order.
I’m sad cause I only get a few days off a year, and my parents were visiting from abroad and I gave them a negative experience.

The place was empty at 8pm, food and service very good and reasonably priced. Great drink selection.

Just been to the restaurant for dinner. Lovely food but the service was lacking.
We waited for 25 minutes for a dessert menu. We asked for one and still had no service. Left and had dessert and a dessert wine at home! Rather disappointed as this was s special occasion.

Been here since 1.30pm, ordered food at 1.50.the time is currently 3.30 and no food has arrived. This is ridiculous!

Awesome meal and staff so so friendly and efficient. Cater to our little babe and ourselves with out any fuss.

Our company hosted our Christmas event here on Saturday night and it could not have gone better. The team at Shed 2 were friendly and attentive, the food was amazing and they accommodated our requests with a smile. Definitely recommend Dennis and the team for your next event!

$80 for a completely deep fried seafood platter is too much. The calamari was soggy, if everything was deep fried in a way I could say it was nice but not for me I wouldn't leave this review. Unfortunately that's not the case.they told us they had no muscles but the dish was full of them! The reason no one knew that there were mussels is that they were all deep fried within an inch of their lives! The wait staff were understanding of the situation and offered to get us something else but by then we did not want to stay. Speaks more to a greedy owner than poor kitchen or wait staff. Maybe $40 if you're going to drop generic fried seafood? Focus on the drinks, you seemed to have a decent range

Nice place and friendly staff. Got a seafood platter, dont recommend, for $100 we were not expecting everything to be crumb fried.couldn't eat 2 of the mussels as they were off, we could slightly smell something when plate got to table but was hard to tell as being the only thing not fried was covered in strong sauce of some kind. Didn't finish meal.

Just got a reply from management that I can't seem to reply direct too. Rude as. It was $88.95 to be precise. Did mention to waitress. Your right it did mention what was on platter but not that it was all fried and quite possibly (not 100 percent sure) cooked from frozen. No I'm not a social media warrior just someone pointing out again your seafood was off and like your waitress you offer no apology. Definitely not high end food only high end prices.

Delicious bento box. Great service and loved sitting on the deck with friends and good wine.

We were all happy with our choice. 2 had pizzas and they looked great. Good varied menu. Tables not to close to each other, overlooking water and boats. When fine great outdoor dining. We will be back. Great friendly service

Have been here quite a few times and enjoyed the flavors and good fresh food, great location. Defiantly not up to its usual standards today can get average anywhere

Just popped in with a few friends and was pleasantly greeted by the manager. Amazing food, exceptional service and we were all made to feel welcome.

Unsure how they can justify $20 for 6 bite size pieces of chicken and a lemon wedge.
Pork belly was a piece of pork. No veg. No salad. No fries. They should stick to the classics.
Stupidly overpriced. Walk out with an empty wallet and underwhelmed as heck.
Dont waste your time.
Girls behind bar were more interested in socialsing. Had to get them to come take orders.
Spend your hard earned money at a pub and get a decent feed

Went to a painting class was ok after half patrons left volume decreased to being able to hear painting instruction lovely place well set up great staff

Great service! He did introduce himself but the big fulla with the beard, best vodka lemon lime bitters we have ever had!

Went for lunch with my son who I hadn't seen in nearly 4 years thanks to Covid ordered if the gluten free Menu which I thort was limited and was very disappointed with my meal which was the chicken and cashews. Chicken wasn't fresh tasted reheated and wasn't nice at all veges were partly frozen and sauce just tasted like sweet Chilli nothing inspiring.rice was unpleasant as well not fluffy and nice but kinda crispy round the outer edges.if I hadn't been with my son I would've sent my meal back but didn't want to make a fuss as my son was paying for the meal.come on guys my home cooked meals are better than this and left feeling a bit ripped off certainly wouldn't reccomend

We could see why this is an award winning restaurant, the food was absolutely delicious and we ordered 6 different meals and none of them disappointed. Our waitress Bree was an absolute gem offering her advice
on good recommendations, sadly the only reason why we did not give this restaurant 5 stars was the poor service received from Yasmin when we entered the restaurant she handed us menu's and said we can sit wherever we wanted (what you expect from fast food places and this restaurantis certainlynot), she seated various other clients to their tables, she also served us someof the food and was not the least bit friendly throughout in comparison to the other 2 waitresses that served us.whom were superb.

"I would like to change my review from 3 stars to 1 star following the response as received from the Owner Dennis. I would like to correct Dennis as the restaurant was not busy when we walked in probably 50% occupancy or less when we walked at approx 18: 30, I work in an industry that has probably been hardest hit by the Covid pandemic and struggling with major resources shortage however we do not make excuses (like Dennis in his response) but rather own it and still drive to obtain customer satisfaction. I would advise patrons to rather visit The Gintrap a few metres away, service, vibe and food is far better than Shed 2"

Shed 2 comes across as a little confused, as they have an Asian and seperate kiwi pub-n-grub menu. Stick to the Asian menu. We had the sharing platter, of which the gyoza and chicken karaage were good.the rest was a little generic. In hindsight I probably would be more specific about what to order. (side note, the bao buns looked good, our neighboring table ordered them). As with all of the establishments on Ahuriri's restaurant row, it is best to sit outside in the sun.
