Thai Chef's Restaurant Napier

We were visiting Napier for the weekend and staying at the Kennedy Park resort. This restaurant is 2 minutes drive away and we were pleasantly surprised. Busy, but we got a table, staff were very attentive despite how busy it was, food very very good. Best Thai I've had in NZ. Reasonable price and we did BYO.

Though the people at the next table were a bit loud, there’s nothing the restaurant could do about that, but the food and service were excellent.
My fiancee is Thai and she said the food is “traditional Thai” and not “Kiwi Thai”, and the price was very reasonable.
We’d happily go back again.

Not only was the food exceptional, but we were also pleasantly surprised when we asked for a discount and were granted one. It's truly refreshing to see a restaurant that values its customers and is willing to go the extra mile to ensure their satisfaction.
I want to give a special shout-out to the amazing server who took care of us. Their friendly nature, attentiveness, and knowledge of the menu made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
It's no wonder that your establishment has gained such popularity among diners. The overall ambiance and quality of service truly make it an awesome place to dine.

Really good to be back. Decor is brilliant. The places has really opened up and much more modern. Food is still good quality.

Menu with a huge variety of dishes, most of them with several options of spiceness. Food is good and well served. One of my favourite Thai places in the region.

Fantastic food! BUT.took 2 hours to get here! I know they are very busy as a very popular restaurant so my advise, order at least 2 hours before you want to eat! ONLY complaint is delivery times.

Really nice place. Good was delicious and the cocktails are amazing too. It's in a great location and the mainstream are reasonable priced

Dreadful lunch. This is the worst Thai meal we have ever had. The noodles in our meal were uncooked, dry with almost no sauce and tasteless. We had both ordered the same dish but with different heat. I think they made it all in one dish and when they dished it out one meal had the very few veges in it and the other had virtually none. The veges also all looked pretty dead. The tofu was tough and chewy. Both were the same heat wise. I overheard the two woman at the table a little was from us and they were saying they would never come back. The spring rolls were ok. Very disappointing.

Did order takeaway n timing was perfect I have also dined in and perfect food and was very busy Staff checked in to let us know the status of our food. Cannot fault either options

Not the real and authentic Thai (for those who have been to Thailand) but I guess it caters to local taste here in NZ.

Hi Guys, we come to you as we love your amazing green curry and stir fry. Last night grabbing takeaways we had to wait 2 hours for our delicious meal. You not only apologised but offered to refund our meal, which we declined. You did give us a voucher for an entree. I just wanted to say, you were extremely busy and short staffed, a perfect storm. Hospitality is such a hard business at the moment and as Kiwis we are so use to a level of hospitality that has changed with covid. There are some keyboard complainer’s out there who what to put the industry down with long wait times or slow food. I just want to say thank you for still allowing us to pickup our delicious takeaways and staying open.

Today was supposed to be a memorable dinner with my family but the staff were very rude to us. When they served our food they didn't even say excuse me when there was clearly no space for them to squeeze in to. We waited so long for our order and we had to share one plate of noodles because it took so long for them to serve our food. It was really a bad experience for us and my family today. I just want to say that they should control their staff on how they accomodate their customer service. If they don't want to serve properly then might as well not let them do it to anyone. Their service is just plain awful.

Have had dinner here before, 10 out of 10.lunch today was disappointing main arrived 5 minutes before starters.

Thai Chef is our "go to" Thai restaurant in Napier. The food is consistently delicious, servings are generous, service and atmosphere is enjoyable and welcoming and price is reasonable.

We came here for dinner last night. Didn’t book but we’re still able to fit us in. Atmosphere was lovely and very friendly staff. Had an absolutely beautiful pad Thai and partner had a lovely sweet and sour chicken. Dish. Couldn’t finish it, huge portions and extremely tasty.

The price for a take away lunch has gone up but the portion sizes appear to have as well. My favs are the Crispy pork Penang or the Thai green curry chicken. Delicious.

Best Thai food in Hawke's Bay, every dish is presented and tastes beautiful. I would eat there every night if I could afford it.

Went here for mothers day. Waited over 90 minutes for food. After more than an hour, I enquired three times how long before the food would be. The waitress did not have the decency to return to me with a response. Twice I left the table to ask the waitress to try to get the answer. When on the third time she responded. She said is being cooked. And I am busy. Not once after our order was taken did we receive any other service. No drinks order. No update. No comment about the wait. All the focus seemed to be on takeaways and no service for dinners. The 5 of us including my 84yr old mother left without any food after 8.00pm. This used to be a regular restaurant for us. We will not return.

Nice atmosphere, clean and tidy, meals served in good time, entree was delicious, main was a bit bland, usually get a fab meal here so was unusual for it to be bland.

Great food but got denied for lunch at 1: 30 when it says open till 2 and they still had people eating and getting served.
