Rude, unhelpful staff, including who I’m guessing was the manager. The people serving the coffee were grumpy and quite rude. Wouldn’t go back

Very rude staff.totally unexpected behaviour.when we enter the store there was open board sign.bt when i order they rudely just ignore us and said we are closed. Never gonna comeback.

We all ex Taihape ites called in for breakfast and all the meals were beautiful and tasty. The lovely Erin served us. Lois Hodge Waihi

No vegan options, almost all menu items contained meat, they were unable to offer vegetarian options other than just removing meat from other options at the same cost. Even the cabinet food had no plant based options - all the sandwiches contained meat.

A family favourite when travelling on State Highway one between Wellington and Taupo. Brown Sugar cafe in Taihape has an excellent and tasty breakfast menu and assortment of fresh baking and other ready meals. The coffees ️ and tea are of a high standard as is the service. You can select to eat inside or outside in a sheltered garden area with clean toilets We have been stopping here for more than 20 years and never been disappointed.

Fab! Stopped here on way home to Napier from Halcombe. What a delightful cafè/store in a quaint town. Georgous setting, inside & out with lovely service. We had cabinet food not a meal, the savoury bun & ginger crunch were lovely, great coffee & so great to see the tea came with a 2nd little pot containing extra hot water. What was supposed to be a quick drop in ended up over an hour as I couldn't resist not only looking but buying some beautiful gifts from the vintage looking store section. If I had had more time then I would have loved to have checked out the other section which looked like it sold hunting/fishing clothing & other interesting stock. We will definately be back with our caravan next time & not on a Sunday as most of town was closed.

Well is a nice enough place, we only stopped in for something cool to drink and decided on a couple of $9 smoothies.
Unfortunately I got a $9 small glass of warm milk with very little flavor.
I did let the lady at the counter know that it wasn't very good but constructive reporting is not something that it received well

Lovely breakfast, great tasting coffee, perfect eggs. Thanks heaps. Will stop by next time we pass through town.

Awesome cafe and the sports shop next door was A1, first time I could walk in and get shirts that fitted me for $20.00

Hadn't been for a few years until Recently. Nothing had changed and was busy. Mainly locals which shows how good the Cafe is.

Do yourself a favour and try the sourdough toast and quince jam. It’s really good, but then so is everything else they make. Coffee is excellent too.

Great coffee and a freah scroll and hot cross bun on our stop through, always a pleasure at brown sugar.

I've had two visits here in the past week. The first was great, the second not so much. Food took almost 40mins to come out and I wasn't advised it would be such a long wait. I actually think they forgot about me! Disappointing as I quite enjoy stopping here

We love this place. Outstanding food and beverages. Great indoors and outdoors seating. Friendly staff. Nothing not to like here.

Good service the coffee is great and relaxing court yard or inside dining and good gift range of products

So lovely to drop in on you for late lunch on our way south. It’s 29.5 degrees in Taihape this afternoon and your staff are full of smiles, food plentiful and delicious, your garden such a reviving oasis! It’s no wonder your customers look so happy and relaxed!

Great food great gift selection and atmosphere we always look around the sports shop. And above all it was great to see that the staff are taking covid vaccine passes seriously but mayb they should scan instead of sighting vacinne passes as this would weed out fake passes that non vacinated people are passing off as real.

Honestly the food here is overpriced, the menu is very limited and what food they do offer does not taste that nice. You can’t expect much from a small town cafe but honestly I’d much rather go to a chain restaurant so I have a guaranteed quality
