Hanamizuki Japanese Restaurant

Amazing food! Great if you want to taste a range of Japanese cuisine but don't want to commit to a full meal. Definitely a place for a group of people. It's a cozy little restaurant, the staff are friendly and attentive and food is lovely, we've been half a dozen times and had never disappointed.

Nice food, but not great. Aged decor needs updating. Casual dining. Food came slower than what I am used to at restaurants.

The food was beautiful with just the right amount on the plate. The service was not obtrusive but prompt and efficient. The atmosphere was a bit on the darker side

I had the most delicious meal here with my son tonight. We had the mixed tempura, mixed sashimi and the rock & roll sushi roll. All dishes were perfectly cooked and very tasty. We also ordered sake which we asked to be served heated. It was the perfect drink for a winter's night. I will definitely be visiting again next time I return to this town.

Service/atmosphere were good. Food prep/ presentation palatable but was too similar/simplified in taste.seasoning in all dishes too sweet. The hotpot was not what is understanding of 'hotpot' should be. Dishes were delayed/slow as only 1 person in kitchen (poor guy!) note: over-priced dishes does not equate to what is served.

Unfortunately my experience wasn't as good as expected. The food is good (standard dinner menu). We waited an hour to eat which is far too long for me. Staff were friendly and atmosphere ok

SLOW! SMALL, OVERPRICED. If you are reading this review, it is not my intent to be mean. But you are better off at any of the other Japanese restaurants in palmy, where you will get food before you have waited an hour for your starter. I would recommend wabi sabi, as not only are the prices fair the food is better, if you want to pay these prices go to yatai, at least the food will be worth the price.

The front door service was great.the sizzling prawns where alright. The spicy salmon dons was disappointing and the pork ramen was awful! The pork was dry and very overpowering in flavour. Could not taste the broth because of the pork. All clouds have a silver lining, the sushi was beautifully presented and tasted delicious.

Food was good, service was good in telling us that they are short staff as there is a bit of a wait for food, this would have been nice to know when we called, as it was a same day booking also we ordered the children food 1st and they come out last a hour and a bit later, would have been good if that was the 1st thing they made as we asked for the children food 1st.

Our food took just over an hour to get to us and it was just sushi? We weren’t warned that there may be a wait which was a little bit frustrating as we had somewhere to be. The sushi was good and good portion size.

Salmon was so fresh, one of my go to restaurants in Palmy (the plum wine here is underrated), 10 out of 10 would recommend

Food is awesome. Patrick never lets us down with his amazing cooking! Staff and Elaine are very friendly! The environment is chill and relaxing with a nice Japanese ambience. The desserts are very yummy and is always a must as an after meal palate cleanser. I love the Apple Tempura but the Apple Spring Roll is also good. It’s not too sweet and the crunch from the batter and the apple adds texture and makes it an exciting dish. Highly recommend! Don’t ask what is good because everything is yummy! Must try everything!

Dishes were alright apart from the Katsu chicken, and the sukiyaki. The beef for the sukiyaki came out ice cold because it had come straight out of the freezer so obviously not fresh. The miso to go with it was no good either; had a funky taste and bits of tofu dilating in it. The crumb On the katsu chicken also had a weird aftertaste.

Hands down my all time favourite Japanese restaurant, been a regular for the past 1O plus years,
it never disappoints the food is fantastic, great favours & the sizzling prawns are a stand out dish with the famous secret sauce.
Relaxed dining & a crowd pleaser.
Will keep coming back each time I visit & my friends love our catch up & the delicious food.
Wish we could transport this restaurant to the bay.

Very disappointing. The quality and taste of food do not justify the exorbitant prices charged.

I shd sizzling prawns (19$) 6 pieces sizzling in oil with Beans sprouts and their special sauce which was basically Mayo. Avoid.

Also had tuna sashimi which was son special 22$. 3 pieces. However very expensive for quantity. But was fresh.

Lastly had teriyaki chicken. Plz avoid at all costs. Small serving even though it was their large dish and the sauce tasted like right out of supermarket bottle. (30$). Avoid plz

10$ for a glass of Pinot.

Total bill 81$. Which is what you would pay for fine dining and this is nothing like that. Just another ordinary restaurant. Typical Nz stuff. Ripoff

There r better Japanese restaurants like Haru. Etc.

The teriyaki chicken is the best I've ever had full of flavours and highly recommend the karrage chicken and seafood tempura! The cook Jane made really fabulous food. Will definitely be my go to Japanese restaurant!

Excellent food. Beer perfect temperature and reasonable selection. Nice and friendly service. Prices at tol of range for this menu.

It takes super long and there is bugs inside! Tried to charge us for the food that they forgot to give us don’t go here guys!
