I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The noodles I ordered were an absolute disappointment, everything from the soup to the noodles tasted disgusting. Furthermore, the food served bore no resemblance to the pictures on the menu. This seems like a huge departure from the standards of Chinese food, if you've ever had normal Chinese food.

The gap between expectations and reality was so vast that I felt compelled to share the experience. I hope this review serves as a warning to future customers that the quality of the food is poor. Overall, I would advise others to exercise caution and consider other dining options.

I stumbled upon a 100-point restaurant by accident:
1. The boss and his wife are very friendly, polite and talkative.
2. Highly recommend the crispy chicken cartilage rice, fried purple potato balls, and black pepper beef rice. The beef is soft and tender.
3. Serving food super fast
4. The price is not expensive and every dish comes with rice.

The mapo tofu is one of the best dishes in this Chinese restaurant, very good, the staff, the food, I have nothing to complain about, the atmosphere is very pleasant and very comfortable, I didn't fall in love with the food, but with the decoration, very beautiful, the decoration of this wonderful Chinese restaurant the price was great for my requests

Lived in Auckland my whole life, this place is seriously better than any places I've been to in Auckland. Food is amazing, minimal wait time.

Most authentic Chinese food in the north island. Amazing delicious full flavored food. Great service. Very tasty. Highly recommended Hong Kong express in Palmy is a must-visit for those craving delicious Chinese cuisine. The food at HK express is bursting with authentic flavors and prepared with utmost care. It was Father's day so it was very busy. The food is always very good, but the wait for my takeaway was half an hour when I was told it would take 10 minutes

It's a very rustic experience, what you would find in the mountain villages of main land China.a good size serving that fulls you up. I can't wait to go back again.

Wouldn’t eat here again. I went as it has good reviews but was very disappointed. Food was microwaved, pretty bland and very expensive for what it was.

HO-LY MO-LY! I have eaten a lot of pork on rice from all around the country, and this is by far the best. BBQ pork was so tender, Crispy pork was so tender and crispy. Duck sauce was exceptional. They didn't have bok choi but cabbage and garlic was a new and exciting addition. 9.5/10.2-3 more pieces of crispy pork and it would of been 10/10. But flavour wise, just?

The mapo tofu and roasted pork belly were really good. We also ordered the dumplings, but they were frankly very disappointing (forgot to take photos). The woman at the front desk could barely speak english, so it was really difficult to communicate.

Do not look at the restaurant decor, it is ugly, but the food is amazing. You will not be disappointed.

Had the rice with Roast Pork, BBQ Pork (char siew) & Roast Duck for $21. (2 meats $18). No increase in price since 2020. Not only good value for money but the taste is just as authentic as you get in Hong Kong!

Don't think they use any of the food delivery services. Maybe they are trying to keep costs down. The couple works very hard & long hours. Hopefully this review would help bring more business to them.

Waited over an hour for two bowls of chicken soup.shop was not busy.ended up walking out.staff were not helpful.terrible service

Authentic Chinese dishes, excellent service and extremely good value for money.
My favourite is "Fried Kuai teow" (Chao Fen rice noodles) and orange beef.

You will rarely see Orange beef on a menu in New Zealand.
Have only had this dish at Hong Kong Express in Palmerston North and Wellington restaurants.

My partner is Asian, she loves the duck dish, orders it every time with extra sauce.

Highly recommend eating here.

Located right at the centre of broadway at a very handy location with plenty street parking, food was a solid 10 in 10, the owner very friendly, very authentic chinese food. Worth a visit over and over again.

Fantastic service and amazing food. Honestly one of the best restaurants when it comes to authentic meals. I asked for extra hot and they delivered. With amazing heat and flavour. Definitely going back soon!

Great food, friendly staff, and very affordable prices. The black pepper chicken on sizzling plate was really good.

Tried the bbq pork which was tasty and came with a nice side of cabbage. The atmosphere of the resteraunt was casual and the staff were friendly. Definately affordable and would go again.
