Kings Ohakune - Bar, Restaurant & Accommodation

Woah where do I start.
Spa pool was slimy a smelt like sulphur aka Rotorua.
Ordered the special dinner and it was so spectacular it didn’t come.
Dart boards aren’t at the right height.
Also the showers water was like it was coming straight from the mountain. Freeze my *****
Tv can only be watched from top bunk.
Should upgrade to blackout curtains if going to have lights outside on all evening.
The only staff that were 100% amazing -Welsh guy and Chilean lady.
Owner was a rude and STUpendously obnoxious

Unfortunate service. Food took more than 1: 30h+ to arrive. Place was not busy. The waiter lied to us mentioning that we were warned at the beginning that it would take that long. Do not and will not recommend to other people! Hope at least that you improve your service for other unluckily customers.

The rooms were dated, and is quite far from most destinations.the bar/restaurant itself is cozy, definitely a plus not having to not far for a meal and some drinks.also had karaoke going which was a lot of fun for our group!

5 stars because Warriors and Hurricanes won tonight and the wonderful staff here made it an awesome night! Thanks we’ll be back when it’s snowing lol

Another day, another over hour wait for food. Ski season is coming, are you ready? I don't think so.

Motel style hotel. Super owner who was very helpful in providing us with local information. Good hospitality tray and room provisions. Bar/restaurant was good, enjoyed dinner and drinks here.
Located 30mins from the national park. Nice town location with a super coffee stop at the railway station.

Well thought out and comfortable room. Good food. Friendly efficient service. Great location.

We stopped for lunch, and it was a quiet Saturday. While we were the only people there, they served us amazingly and informed us of some of the supply issues recently. Great food, great vibe, and a lovely place!

Wouldn’t stay here again. Loud music from the bar till 2am. Sleeping with ear plugs didn’t help. Probably a fun night for those at the bar but after a long day tramping just wanted to sleep. As someone staying at the hotel we should have been told they were holding an event like that. Otherwise not a bad place and spa was appreciated

Literally the best food I’ve had out since being in New Zealand! Corn on the cob was probably one of the best I’ve had & nachos were a generous sized portion - freshly made and not soggy! Service with a smile also ️

Visited as part of an organised event and they did their very best for us. They've had a tough few years and a rubbish ski season this year and their gratitude for our patronage was palpable. Definitely an eclectic atmosphere but in an historic building with a looming presence and a great view of the maunga. Great support for Tech savvy team of organisers.

Staff are super fun and the food is delicious! Love this spot for a few drinks after a long day. Chur for the wicked nights team!

Food was nice but overpriced and took a bit too long. 3 entrees were forgotten, with only 2 being made in the end which still came out 30 minutes after the mains which took roughly 45 to an hour to come out. Service could be better

Plain Poor.

We were a walk in larger group on a somewhat quiet night, we'd heard good things and had actually had members of our party who had been through before and had a good experience. This evening was surprisingly underwhelming. The food was okay, but the service was rude, condescending and forgetful. We had entrees missing from our order which did not arrive until we had finished our mains, not too mention the mains taking 45 minutes to arrive in the first place. We were not offered any compensation or even acknowledgment when we attempted to settle the bill, unfortunate and quite frankly, disappointing.

Great atmosphere, delicious food, generous portion sizes which were reflected in the prices, friendly staff and well maintained facilities. Absolutely coming back next time.

Have had two meals here in the last few days and both were amazing. Best steak meal ever at a restaurant and my Husband cook's a perfect one! Fish meal, Nacho's and burgers were all incredible. Well done team King's Restaurant service was top stuff.

Staff were short and unfriendly, close to point of rude. After ordering had a hour+ Wait for food with countless items forgotten including every entree, after reminding them we got them 30 mins after our dinner. We were asked if we still want them? Umm yeah we ordered them. We were also reminded that we had to “pay” before leaving, like they expected us to try and leave without paying. The food was ok, overall not bad but had bits missing from burgers etc.overall a bit overpriced for average food. Our entree were classified as ciabatta but were clearly not. 1/10

The KFC burger was great however, the male waiter was disappointing to say the least and borderline rude. The food took too long to arrive to the table and the starters arrived after our mains was finished. There's room for improvement. Not the way to treat paying king's.

Was just there tonight with my family, first of all the staff are amazing, I had the pleasure of having stu (the owner/operator) as our waiter and he was awesome, he even shared some history about the kings which was awesome to hear, secondly the food was absolutely amazing probably 1 of the best steak meals I've had in long time and the sticky date pudding was very nice. I highly recommend anyone passing or staying in ohakune to visit kings as you will not be disappointed. Thanks stu and the team for an awesome meal and time. Cheers

Food was real good. However, our waiter did seem a bit aggravated for some reason (maybe becuase it was really busy?).
