Liffiton Castle reviews
44My favourite Indian restaurant in Whanganui! The curries are so delicious and aromatic (recommend the goat curry and the okra curry). Love the decor and art as well, it's a time travelling experience.
Ok! It's a castle, bit dated inside but I can honestly say my partner and I had a lovely meal here. The dishes were very tasty and well cooked and well priced! So, fight your inner dragon and stop being a wimp and check it out, you will not be disappointed!
We love this place. The ambience and beautiful decor create an authentic Indian cultural experience. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is fantastic.
Fun fun place to eat Indian food. The food wasn't the best Indian food I've had. However it was easily over average. The Chai was really good, and served to you in a generous kettle, so you end up drinking about 3 cups worth! Yum
The chicken Tikka masala was fine and traditional. Naan bread was crisp and chewy as it should be and nice and garlicky.
Where they stand out is the atmosphere and service. We received our menus on an ornate canister. The decor in the place was fun and there is free parking.
I had a wonderful experience there.)
First time coming here with my husband. Food was amazing and service was great. Birthday well spend:)
Fantastic food! There is a new menu since we ate here last, the Mint Tikka is to die for.
We will be back.again and again
The biryani was bland and below average.and the raita was sweet.disappointed. Not real Indian food.
We did an online takeaway order and it was made quickly, a great tasty curry with good quality meat (proper tandoori chicken in the butter chicken), delicious naan and a great price. Will order from here again.
Excellent attentive customer service without being annoying. Devine food, both entree & main.
Definitely will be back
I implore you.
Do not utilise this establishment for any takeaway meals and get caught out like I did.
They are listed on Uber Eats and showed they deliver.
In good faith, I ordered food from here. I was told after payment went through they can not deliver and could I please either pick it up or utilise another delivery service.
Having arrived in Whanganui and having no transport, this was not an option for me.
The principle of the matter was I paid for and expected delivery.
Worse part was the arrogance of the guy on the phone. He hung up on me 2 times.
So I caught a cab, went down there, fronted the guy eye to eye and spoke to the guy who hung up on me and told him there was no need to be rude and hang up. He was still rude. That say's it all! By this time, I wouldn't want to eat anything from out of here even if it was offered to compensate!
Still in deficet of money from here.
All that glitters is not gold.
Go elsewhere and not here.
Rubbish customer service.
Dont get caught out like I did.
Why even advertise via Uber Eats?
Why not find a solution to appease the paying customer who paid for food and delivery?
The why's behind your non delivery is not mine ot anyone elses problem.
Rubbish place!
I will make sure everyone knows not to visit this place!
1 star is far to much for this outfit!
Had no consideration for time. Placed an Uber Eats order, arrived there to pick it up. They told me to come back 15 mins later even though I received a notification that it was ready. Came back and I was told to wait another 5 mins with no remorse or apologies for the delay. Terrible customer service received from the lady with the long hair, you know who you are - normally, customer service employments are the easiest jobs, but you definitely need some training.
The guy was lovely and offered me a naan bread for some compensation. Lady giggled in the back. This feedback goes to your manager - this ain’t meant for you.
We moved to Whanganui 8 years ago and have been saying we have to try out this place but never had a chance. Today we have family friends came from Auckland so we thought to try. We are all soo impressed. The presentation of the food is very beautiful. The food is beyond perfect lovely hospitality from the owner and staffs. Thank you for this lovely dining experience.
Pathetic customer service.
Placed an order through Uber and when it did not arrive on time, I called them for an update. To my surprise the guy on the phone said we gave it to Uber, call them our job is finish. Super rude, 0 in hospitality and customer service.
The best Indian food I have ever had. Our meal was absolutely amazing. The chicken just fell apart, it was so tender. The service was good and everyone was very friendly. Will definitely be back.
One of the tastiest Indian meals I've ever had. The blend of herbs & spices in the curries were delightful & the service superb. Highly recommended.
Having tried about 90% of the Indian restaurants in NZ. This ranks in my top 2, with Oh Calcutta in Auckland being number 1.
The food and service were exceptional. The Tandoori lamb chops were sublime. I eat my curry Indian hot, and rarely get it as hot as I ask. I ordered a chicken Madras Indian hot, and it was fantastic.
I cannot give any higher recommendations for this restaurant. Thanks Jas for introducing me to it, and will definitely visit again.
Thank you for an amazing experience.
Last night we had an amazing curry at the Castle Eatery in Wanganui. The food was outstanding and the attention to service by the waiting staff was first class. We will definitely be back.
Not very good; our first visit was great, but after our last one, we're not going back. Has gone downhill.
Overpriced for what we got and we were even charged for takeaway containers without being told.
Went in thinking it was a pub meal.how wrong was l? Its an Indian restaurant and the food is excellent. Lots to choose from and a reasonable drinks menu too. Lovely white linen table cloths and napkins but these were let down by the old ragged menu dirty drinks menu and years worth of dust and grime on the windowsills. The only way they can improve this restaurant is on cleanliness. Food and service fab.
This place really surprised me. The wood was amazing, maybe the best Indian I've had with really different dishes on offer. The cocktails too take on some Indian influence and are great, with quick friendly service to boot, highly recommend. Once they modernize the decour this place will be singing.
