Thai Mekong Restaurant

This place has neither the facilities or systems to provide efficient and competent take away service. The service has deteriorated significantly since the relocation to Kimbolton Rd.

Overcrowding at the entrance and staff without defined roles and proper training result in chaos, lost, delayed and cold meals. Also the consistency of the dishes which have been very good in the past varies greatly.

They need a proper maitre d at the unused main entrance for the dining room and a dedicated take out service at the side entrance.

If take out service does not improve soon we will be going elsewhere.

Got the sweet and sour pop corn pork. Got to say this is the best sweet and sour I have ever had! My wife got the mixed seafood phad thai and that was super yummy too. Highly recommended!

Really disappointing meal. Sweet and sour was watery and very bland and the vegetables were flaccid and mushy. Definitely very underwhelmed for the price we paid

Never disappointed! You guys are by far my favourite Thai restaurant. I got take away this evening and it was like I was sitting in your restaurant. Cooked to perfection and perfect amount of spice. Worth the 30 minute drive into town! Always a happy customer:)

Amazing service, pad thai, sweet and sour pork was super yummy. Prawn entree were really big and super fresh. Would give it 10 stars if i could. Travelled from Napier and its worth it.

Misinformation right from the first confirmation email after ordering online had us questioning when the order would be delivered as the email said Friday and Saturday delivery, so we called the restaurant to confirm it was actually coming tonight (Monday).

When the order arrived, we were missing an entree of satay chicken and we had Jasmine rice not coconut rice that we ordered. We again phoned the store and were told 'no its all there, you're wrong' so we told them that's fine but we won't be back. About 5 minutes later we got a phone call back from someone else who asked what was wrong and they said they'd deliver the missing entree but we're wrong about the coconut rice and they wouldn't fix it. We carried on eating g while we waited for the missing entrée, no point in it getting colder while we waited. The entree finally arrived when we'd finished, The delivery driver was very apologetic and asked if the rest of the order was ok, and was told again about the rice issue.

He must've got back to restaurant and told them cause we got another call saying they'll now bring our correct rice We said don't bother we've finished eating now and were asked if we'd like to pick it up later?

In the nicest possible way there were too many people involved on our order, they need to get better systems in place to get the order out in one go and to ensure they're not overriding each other's decisions. A very poor first experience with this restaurant for the amount of money we spent.

Amazing food, extremely tasty and well cooked. Great atmosphere and friendly waiter. We will be back.

What a great night out. Fabulous food, atmosphere was lovely and the service was outstanding by the lovely friendly staff, especially Bankk who was new to the team and will be a great asset. Highly recommend this restuarant.

Fabulous meals enjoyed by our group and even though the staff were really busy Ben delivered service to us all with a smile. Really impressed with this cuisine and service. Thank you so much. This restaurant is really worth going to.

I arrived at the restaurant and told the very helpful staff that I was hoping to catch a movie nearby that started in 20 minutes. My wine arrived in 1 minute and my delicious Chicken Pad Thai arrived in literally 5 minutes. Fantastic service!

Was ok. Service pretty average. Salmon was very good. Veg was mostly bokchoy and cabbage, could have done with more variety.

Food is over priced, mushroom batter was to thick and snapper wasn't fresh and overcooked. Service was great though. First and Last.

Ordered the whole panfried fish in garlic and pepper sauce.fish was snapper but unfortunately it was overcooked and dry.
Starters we're not that nice either, salt n pepper squid and fried mushrooms were like something I would buy from the supermarket and fry at home.not much change from $90.would not visit here again in a hurry

Ordered Chicken and cashews, flavour was excellent but there was hardly any chicken in it. The Jasmine rice just tasted like normal rice. The large fries was very small

The main dish started off good but ended up getting curry puffs that had hot and cold pockets throughout like they'd been microwaved. 20mins later both myself and partner had spewed entire content in the motel toilet and feeling absolutely sick.

I had mussels entree, 4 dry mussels on a bed of salad stuff couldn't really make out what it was, but it tasted disgusting almost off, and my main dish was bbq chicken served on a hot plate, first of it was way too hot to eat had to wait a while, then the chicken may as well have been smashed with an axe as it had fine smashed up bones all the way through it, the salad was pretty much like the entree yuk. Told the guy at the counter about it when I payed, all he could say is you are kidding I said no, didn't even offer a discount, so won't ever go there again.

Good menu selection, not much of a wait for dinner to be served, drinks selection also good. Wait staff polite and helpful.

Service was good but I was not impressed with the taste or value for money. Wouldn't recommend.
