Omg! This food is some of the best food I have ever had! The soy garlic fried chicken is sooooo delicious! My favourite food is fried chicken and this fried chicken is definitely at the top! The chicken katsu was also Devine.
The portion size is great for the price aswell. I’ll definitely be ordering from here more often.

It’s ABSOLUTELY taste same as korean chicken! I am korean, and i tried korean chicken from every palmy restaurant and they’ve never satisfied me but THIS ONE it’s just PERFECT chicken was very crispy, sauce was exactly same as chicken in korea, perfect portion with perfect price it’s just perfect thank u so much i was craving korean chicken so much ️ i finally feel happyyyttt

A quaint little Japanese style food joint for Take out.
A real Gem in the heart of Takaro, giving an awesome extension of variety in the area, a nice change from your typical Fish+chip shop or Indian cuisine takeaway. (Not to say that those in the area are not good)
You might be mistaken by underestimating this small shop.
The menu isn't super extensive, but is large enough, which I think is on point.
Everything they do, is made very well.
All that I have tried is amazing, everything appears fresh, and has the wonderful textures and tastes you become accustomed to with Japanese food.
The Basak is almost dangerous if you're situated close-by, you may have to stop yourself going too often! ️

Superb fried chicken with good flavour options, good quality vegetarian and vegan dishes available too, so those with other dietary requirements won't miss out. A great all rounder for takeaways.

I've ordered takeaways twice, several months apart and had upset tummy both times. It's a pity because the food was tasty.

Best Fried Chicken I have ever had, hands down. I got Uber eats and no regrets. Nicest fluffiest rice. Salad was tasty, chicken was crunchy. Hot on arrival. 12/10 I also tried the vege tempura and that was delish as well!

Best takeaways we’ve had in a while! We even said better than some of the Japanese we’re had at restaurants in Palmy. We will be regulars!

Ordered some rolls off ubereats but can't say it was tasty, and the cardboard boxes food came in smelt bad.

Every meal was delicious! Tofu vege balls were amazing! Will definitely be returning again soon! Yummmmmmm

Have tried everything on the menu at this point and not one thing disappoints. Sweet chilli fried chicken and the Kakiage are my favourites. 11/10 would Uber again.

Stumbled upon this place on Uber Eats and decided to give it a go. Great decision! They have a few vegan options on their menu, the eggplant curry was delicious (though I would love a vegan tofu option!) Plus they have agedashi tofu which is to die for!
Generous servings and eco-friendly packaging which we love!

Found out about this place when their shop window got unfortunately smashed. Told myself I'd try it next time I was in town, and I have to say it did not let me down. Great Japanese food, decent portions and great price. Highly recommend.

Amazing food! My wife and I tried this for the first time last night and WOW. Great serving sizes and amazing flavors! The sweet chili chicken is by far one of my favorite all time dishes!

Great place if you’re into fried chicken. The chicken is crispy and coated well in seasoning…tastes great and not overly salty. You can make it a meal with rice and salad. There’s more to the menu when you’re ready for more, but the fried chicken is a must!

I have been dying to try this place and im so glad i did, the katsu chicken was so delicious and a very surprising portion size that was just perfect, the dumplings and tasty too, overall i will be back to order more so happy to have a Japanese style place in palmy thats actually good please never close down lol

I have Pork Katsu curry. - the best in Palmerston North for Japanese take away. Best deep fried pork which crispy on the outside.but juicy on the inside. Surprising good, will come again.

Partner and I got a few dishes to try on Monday and couldn't fault any of them. I've since been directing anyone who will listen to give The Basak a go and am planning my next order
