Wabi Sabi reviews
53Was so excited for dinner tonight. We go there quite often and get the same thing (sauce katsudon) and it is usually amazing! However, tonight there was a new menu which looked good, we ordered the chicken katsu set which said to have the same things as the sauce katsudon, but we’re given a chicken rice curry thing.
Absolutely disgusting experience with balls of fried batter when it was meant to be chicken. Was charged $8.50 for a teacup full of fries. Would definitely not recommend. Feel extremely ripped off with no apology when expressed disappointment.
We visited after a long time. I think we last came in 2017.
Menu has changed quite a bit and so have the prices; which is quite understandable given post Covid situation.
We had octopus balls Takoyaki - 10$; this was ok.
Also had okonomi fries -9$ - this was disappointing as it just supermarket fries with some mayo and soya sauce likely. Avoid.
Tuna tataki - 19.50$ - this was raw tuna seared in soya sauce likely. It was nice.
Salmon Maui was typical teriyaki salmon - 17.9$
Tom yum tofu 21$ - this was disappointing as it wasn’t tangy and didn’t really feel the Tomyum taste.
Drinks (coke) 6$/ head was really off with no fizz and had to return but even after changing was still flat.likely served from an open bottle.
Total bill for 2 adults and 2 kids was 121$ and we didn’t order main dishes for everyone.
Overall this was a disappointing experience and I’d suggest avoid this place. Go to Haru which is worth spending money.
Went there last night and noticed that they took money out of one of the lovely young girls pays due to her accidentally mucking up an order. Also, the place is incredibly dodgy and unprofessional. The staff deserve better conditions.
Was very dissapointed with the meal I ordered, for $17 I received a bowl filled 3/4 with just rice, 3 leaves of spinach (apparently a salad) and 5 small strips of chicken on top. Really irritated and feeling extremely ripped off. Would not recommend.
Enjoyed the dishes that we ordered. Great presentation with a good manner. But it took a while to process the payment. I wanted to use my prezzy card but they said they don’t accept the prezzy card - why? It is kinds of credit card. So weird to hear from them for the first time. I used it at the end but poor knowledge of payment methods. Hope they know now. After use, still asked my name and contact details with suspicious eyes. Felt very uncomfortable when I left. I don’t think I visit again.
Bento was fresh and tasty.
Tried 2 types of Ramen - pork and duck didn’t taste fresh and soup was boring.
Calamari was hard and chewy but batter was nice.
Staff was very polite and lovely.
Service timely and superb really. Clean and well presented although I was slightly disappointed with my food the vege tempura was oozing oil and the karaage chicken had a taste I didn't like. They weren't prepared to swap out the tuna for the tempura in the bento box so a little more expensive. Last time the meal I had was amazing so maybe just a little tweaking required.
I used to love Wabi Sabi, the quality of food seems to have gone a bit down hill. It is still ok, but I'd choose other options now.
1st time there. My granddaughter wanted to go as it looked nice. Service excellent. Happy to return. Thank-you.
Great and colorful food, friendly service, reasonable prices and overall a very positive experience. Will go there again
Had a mild spicy curry. It was amazing. If I have the opportunity to come around here next time. I'd like to try their other dishes.
Really nice quality, authentic Japanese restaurant. The okonomiyaki and unagi maki sushi are a must to try. Staff are friendly and attentive and the restaurant itself has a sleek yet casual vibe. The food is also great value for money and great for sharing.
Wabi Sabi isnt bad if you have never had real japanese food before. Staff is good, food will make you full, Price is okay, overall not bad so I give it 4 stars.
Nice, clean atmosphere. Food nice only gave 4 cos couldn't complain about anything but just not amazing
Anyone who comes to New Zealand and likes to eat Japanese food, I recommend this restaurant. The food is so great. I like eating Japanese food and Staff are so friendly.
The experience and the food were brilliant, and my girlfriend and I ordered an entree each and the same main each, the Japanese beer was superb and the meal was very tasty and fresh! The staff were very friendly and were always very happy and smiling authentically. Well done to Wabi Sabi!
The ramen was good but we didn't like the gyoza and they have no meat option, just the vegetarian one. Overall the food was great though.
The food was amazing especially the salmon. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. A very cozy place to sit and eat. Definitely recommended.
Having dined at Wabi Sabi many times, I can say that the service is efficient and the food is delicious, authentic and always fresh.
I had dinner there tonight. The yakisoba chicken noodle dish was tasty and generous in portion. Same with the bento box, and the fruit bubble fizzy was so good that we ordered another!
There's something for everyone at Wabi Sabi. I'd definitely recommend it for dates, family outings or just for a quick meal anytime. Thank you, Wabi Sabi manager and staff!
