Rays Place reviews
27Rays place is all kinds of " hits the bullseye "in a café old timey sense. Makes their own baking etc, friendly relaxed Kiwi attitude service, indoor outdoor seating. Good ice creams and milkshakes, my favorite ice coffee.
Great service and wide selection of food made on site. Great for eat in or take away. Quality, clean and friendly. A great place to stop if traveling. I don't think they do cooked breakfast but have tood to heat and eat.
Found Ray's after a drive along the beautiful Queen Charlotte Drive. Perfect place for a coffee and light lunch. The breakfast panini was excellent and my wife enjoyed the fresh cream cakes. Stopped here again the next day en route to Kaiteriteri. Highly recommended.
We stopped in on our way home from Nelson. The food was well presented, very tasty, the service was great. Next time we are passing through, I will definitely call in. Sit inside or out, with a view of the Marina.
Great homebaking, everything made in house, good coffee and friendly team.enjoy the view of pelorus sound from the deck out the back.highly recommended.
Our bus to nelson broke down right outside of this cute wee cafe for a while and the owner had come over and offered free food to everyone on board as she was about to close and nothing went to wastage! I thought this was such a beautiful kind gesture and my iced Chelsea bun was absolutely devine. You lady's rock! ️ Can't wait to stop in here next time and order something. We are are all so happy thank you so much. Really made my afternoon x
Called in for a coffee and something to eat, beautiful fresh donuts and other wonderful food.
We stopped here for lunch last Wednesday. There is a great selection of food, and we both opted for the cheese scones. We glad we did, they were delishMy hot chocolate was lovely too. Staff are friendly. Even though it was very busy, the service was great. Will return when next in Havelock.
Love this place, been twice in 2 days. Great strong coffee, excellent Mac and cheese, and cream and custard donut. Lovely ladies who fussed endlessly over little Willow. 100% recommend this place, best food, best vibe, lovely ladies. Will be back tomorrow before we head back out on the road.
Ordered 4x coffees takeaway- I had the short black. 1 of the worst coffees I've ever tasted. I think they used the dregs of the coffee rather than make a fresh round. Will not return
Lady at counter was super welcoming and food selection was lit! Excellent coffee and donuts very happy thank u team
Great pie. Excellent service from the young girl, handling everything by herself in the busy Cafe,
Excellent place to stop for lunch lovely staff very welcoming, the mussel pies are absolutely delicious
Coffee lovely, do-nuts a bit dry. Outdoor seating very welcome as we managed to grab the only table in the shade. Some parasols would help. Staff were very friendly.
Called in for coffee and a milkshake on Sunday afternoon. Everything else was closed. Super nice surroundings and the cabinet food looked fantastic. Will make this our regular stop for sure
Super cute wee tea room!
We got the best pies we have had in a while and topped off with the most generous size ice cream perfect stop off place x
Bring your own take away cup, their large is most peoples medium. $0.50 extra for a takeaway cup.
Far from the best cornish pasties, but they aren't awful.
Delicious savoury scroll, that was fresh and tasty and the pies had great pastry and lots of filling. We would definitely stop here again. We'll done team!
Never, ever, will we b back here, shocking service. Shabby blue tray lacking a napkin n too small a tea cup. Virtually, thrown at us, n when asked about Cutlery, were told, "over there", pointing to a wall. Young lady could of said, " yes, look, I will get them for u", since I hv just walked pass them. Dusty plastic blue hydrangeas on the table, as were the tables n chairs. Seriously owner peoples, sit at one of ur tables, n take a good long look at the floor, chairs n tables. Alot of cleaning n scrubbing n elbow grease needed here. Food wasn't fantastic. Young lady, was not interested in making small talk or giving us a smile, too much of a hurry to get out the back n talk to whoever! Than making us feel welcome. We werent asking for much, but a nice polite hello n smile would of sufficed. Two other ladies, on leaving, said, " thanku", but no response from said young lady, as her back was to them. My advice is this, "get another job away from serving the public, as u r driving customers like us to never coming back".
We never went in with the intentions to rate you, but sitting there feeling like we were of an inconvenience, we just had to review u.
Rant over!
Never disappointed with this small town family run cafe. Friendly staff with lovely nostalgic decor.
Nice to actually drink tea out of a china tea cup as you should and not served in a horrible thick coffee mug.
The food is always home made and fresh. We really enjoy the soup, custard slices, scones and delicious Sunday roasts, just like mother used to make.
