Wilderness Guides - Hike Bike Kayak - Queen Charlotte Track Adventures reviews
46Great adventure on e-bikes! The whole Wilderness Guides crew was awesome, informative and helped us celebrate my brother’s engagement that occurred on the Snout!
Did a full days kayaking, staff were great and super helpful, our guide was lovely and very knowledgeable. Had a really good day out on the sounds.
Lovely staff! They were so accomodating when plans changed due to weather and we had such a great experience with them, would definitely recommend!
We and our teenage boys had a fantastic time on the Queen Charlotte Walkway. The Wilderness Guides took all of the hassle out of the organisation and the team were friendly and practical. We hired walking poles and they promptly replaced a faulty one mid-walk, and also sent earbuds left behind to our next stop - before we had even realised that they were missing.
Great operation. Well organized accommodation, lunches and walk through the sounds. Highly recommend Wilderness Guides!
We went out for a full day of kayaking with Jake and had an incredible day. We were very impressed with Jake's knowledge of the local flora and fauna along with his knowledge of the local culture and history.
I quite liked how there's no concrete plan for the paddle as it allowed flexibility to adapt to the weather conditions and paddler capabilities.
A particularly unexpected bonus was how nice the vegetarian and vegan packed lunches from Picton Village Bakery were!
It feels that we have been communicating with Wilderness Tours for ages as our original 2022 booking was postponed for 12 months due to Covid. Communication prior to our trip was very efficient. We did the 4 day Queen Charlotte walk. Unfortunately on Day 3 I took a fall & broke my wrist. The support we received from Martin was amazing. He arranged a water taxi from Torea to Lochmara to pick up our luggage, then to Picton so we could drive to the hospital in Blenheim. Meantime he was phoning around to arrange alternative accommodation for us on a very busy weekend in the area. It was service above & beyond, very supportive. Thanks Martin
We loved our trip with Wilderness Guides! We spoke with Hayley ahead of time to get a sense of what to expect from the trip — she was a helpful, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable resource. Alex picked us up from our hotel via private water taxi for a mountain biking tour on the Queen Charlotte Trek. He was a great match for us — laid back and full of knowledge about the natural and cultural history of the area. He answered our MANY questions with gusto, and took great care of us.
As a side note, if you are considering biking the Queen Charlotte Trek, ensure that you are comfortable navigating steep and loose terrain on two wheels. While the trail is not technical and is certainly manageable, it was precarious at times and took some skill (even with an e-bike).
We would 100% recommend taking any tour with Wilderness Guides. They are clearly a well-organized, thoughtful, and knowledgeable company, and the staff take great pride and joy in what they do! Our tour was one of the highlights of our trip to NZ!
An awesome crew with all the sea kayaking gear you need for a Marlborough Sounds adventure.
Thank you Jenna for a wonderful trip last week, amazed to see the dolphins a basking seal and picking the cockles. Beautiful day in the Queen Charlotte Totaranui Sound
Well organised team, we did the Queen Charlotte track with an extra night at Lochmara lodge.
After several postponements due to covid and track damage we finally did the Queen Charlotte Track hike through Wilderness Guides in Picton.
The Wilderness Guides package included pick up from our motel, briefing, watertaxi to start of the track at Ships Cove and 1 night each at Furneaux Lodge and Punga Lodge.
Our bags were transported on by boat to be waiting for us on each evening's arrival.
This all worked like clockwork.
There was some disconnect between email arrangements we had made not being passed on to the on site managers but this was no big deal. The staff in Picton were courteous and efficient.
We were pleased to hear that business was picking up and the future was looking bright.
Jess is one of the nicest guides. Full of charm, knowledge and so very helpful. The dedication to our every need is fantastic. Get down here and feel the love
Awesome experience! You guys delivered the full package! Accommodating and knowledgeable staff. Thanks so much for making our family holiday 5 star!
Excellent company to book experiences with. Queen Charlotte Sound walk, everything was catered for spot on.
Great service. It's the first time I've booked a holiday through a tourism company rather than directly myself. Wilderness Guides, inconjuction with Beachcomber Cruises, made everything easy and we're so flexible to accommodate any changes. Much appreciated.
Organised our 5day trip along the Queen Charlotte track. Everything was spot on from transport to accommodation.
Would highly recommend. Martin was hugely valuable in making sure I was set up for the kayaking trip with friends, advising us on routes, campsites and weather forecasts. This was before, at the time of and during out 3 day trip. The sea kayak was perfect for use, as were all the dry bags and kit provided. And great value for money. Thank you!
We did kayak with Wilderness Guide on 26 Dec with coach Alex, he is very professional and nice, brought us to kayak in the amazing Queens Charlotte sound. The views are amazing, it definitely worth a try!
They were great getting us on adventure but when we returned after being thru a cyclone the guy never even knew who we were. It only takes one bad employee to leave a bitter taste.
