Animates Nelson

We took our two dogs (Rottweiler girls) for a bath and it was a great experience, they were friendly and helpful and the facilities were clean and welcoming.

As always I get great help from the team members in here and the staff always go the extra mile to help me carry the heavy bags to my car. Staff are always ready and willing to help Jason runs an excellent team at the Richmond store

I would like to give a shout out to Bonnie at Nelson store, knowledgeable, very helpful, and even stayed helping me test water and buy fish well after her knocking off time without any complaints.

Today went to buy 4 Tiger Barb from Animates in Nelson. Advised that my 172 Litre Tank is too small. The Barbs being bought are babies and in very cramped conditions at Animates. Explained that I have several already that are actually fine, and if they get too large, I would come and buy a larger tank. This was not satisfactory for the staff there? They're concerned for the welfare of the fish. I felt as though they were happy to keep these fish in a cramped environment, and did not trust me to take care of them properly. My set up is far superior to theirs. I explained that I felt as though I was being interrogated. In this time, the 4 that I wanted to buy were swimming around and looked quite content. The issue is, the staff make you feel like you are not a responsible person to look after fish. First it was one staff member, then a second and by the time the third one was about to come, I decided to leave. WENT TO PETMART, they could not be more helpful. It's not nice to feel interrogated by the staff at Animates, maybe some retraining should be given on their approach. I have acquired a cat there and all of these fish from their in the past, no problem. Really disappointed that they can make you feel guilty and don't trust the customer to do the right thing. I have spent quite a lot of money there in the past, but never seem to get the voucher they say I'm entitled to for having an account with them. I check all my messages from them to see when I may get it, no point in having an account there. Very Dissatisfied former customer.

After having two heart attacks, one of my biggest problem was getting cat food, as i had no one here to do it for me because i wasnt allowed to give my eftpos card to my home help. Animates has an online shopping so i buy it through there now and if something happens to me again, ive got plenty of food on hand for my cat

They have a wash your pet thing which is awesome because the family dog gets really smelly after a few weeks! You can borrow a towel for your pet to dry your pet off more! Still would recommend bringing your own towels as there may not be enough! But service is pretty friendly

Fantastic experience for both me and my 7 month old puppy in the Nelson branch. It was his 1st time and wow did he get made a fuss of. The staff are all so friendly and knowledgable and the customer staff and pet interaction was so smooth.

Find everything I need for our little Chihuahua and our Ragdoll cats. Staff are friendly and helpful. Allie Mae our little Chihuahua loves going for a visit.

The lady I we were talking to gave me wrong information so therefore wouldn't sell me my fish she was expecting me to know if I had a male or female fish (God knows how I am expected to know that) however the lady at the checkout was lovely and was puzzled why I couldn't buy my fish I wanted!

While traveling, we went in for dog food, a dog wash and a new seat cover for our car. The ones they had were really expensive, compared to others we had seen and I mentioned that to the clerk who was helping us. When we finished with the dog wash, she came over and handed us a list of local places that had more affordable covers and had even called them to make sure they were in stock. We always use Animates for our dog needs and this confirms our future business with them.

Prices on most items are really expensive- way more than a similar item sells for at a supermarket or warehouse
