Hong Yun Chinese Restaurant & Takeaways

Got there at 4.30 (opening time) waited till nearly 5pm with a line of others.could have just been a bad day but kind of ennoying food which i usually love was slightly blander than usual

Just bought egg foo young & chicken chowmein for dinner yummy mmm, quick polite & generous service

I love this place jus need to open at lunch time, sweet an sour chicken never disappointed me yet, see you at 5 pm

The pork bbq rice is really nice, but lemon chicken was bitter, guessing to much lemon zest maybe… ruined a bit

I’d heard it was good but unfortunately I didn’t think so. The food was bland - the fried rice was oily and had virtually no vegetables and the chunks of chicken were too big with no flavour. Disappointing. Service was ok.

Had high expectations after hearing people rave about the smorgasbord here but was disappointed. Average range and food. New Asia in town is better.

The food and price more than make up for the building looking a little long in the tooth. I had a meal from here and then a similar one from Miracle the following night. Miracle was twice the price, served luke warm, with uncooked dimplings. Miracle didn't taste half as good Hong Yun. Ill be going to Hong Yun again next time I'm in Nelson.

Best chinese I've found in nelson so far, the only one I keep going back to. Currently $12 for a small or $15 for large tray from chinese in the cabinet. The nice lady always jam packs it full so good value.

Love the won tons. Always get a dozen, they last three meals, even nice cold. The takeaway meals are crammed into the container so tight the lid barely closes. Best in town and best I have tried across the mōtu.

Best Chinese in town. Noodles and veges are perfectly cooked! The chicken is so juicy! Wontons are lovely. And the customer service is amazing! Highly recommend!

I've been to many different Chinese takeaway places in 3 different cities and this one the best by far. Great service and great food. And better still good value too.

Big portions but the deep fried chicken and pork are soggy and there's more batter than meat. Not great unfortunately: (

I have moved out of the Nelson region and this is one of the main places to eat at that I miss! Generous portions for the price, delicious food, (that Sweet and Sour sauce is just amazing) and a lovely, kind couple and their family who run the place.

This is hands down the worst Chinese I've ever had. They have bags of food supplies sitting around the already messy restaurant. The food is pre cooked and hard to say is palatable. Seemed like there was only 1 person working on a Friday evening with a line out the door. Will not be going back.

Overall it wasn't too bad but some of our order was wrong and the quality of the food was average.

I've been coming here for years and always loved it, very disappointed seems the recipes they are using have changed no flavour very bland
