The Hot Rock Gourmet Pizza Pasta Bar reviews
70 Dined in at this restaurant and had such a lovely experience. Ray said that ". You're in the right place to eat as a coeliac. "
Ordered the risotto, pizza and totra caprese and they were all so delicious. Will definitely be back to try more of the gf options. Thank you Ray for reassuring my kai would be coeliac safe.
My grandson and i were here today.it was the best food we've had all holiday and thst includes restaurants.food and service were amazing.the pizzas and pasta were on a par with the more expensive restaurants in chch.but less in cost.if your used to eating out the costs have risen along with everything else.
Food wasn’t bad tasting but very overpriced. Margherita pizza for $31 such a joke. And the Olio pizza wasn’t the best we have had considering the price. Don’t know if we will be back
The Greek salad was deliciouS, as was the wooly wooly pizza. There was one guy up front and he was amazing. Five stars.
Absolutely fantastic. My wife and I had the ribs and carbonara respectively. Can't fault a single element on both dishes. Ray the owner and Om the head chef deserve top accolades. It's a pity we come from the North Island. Would highly recommend all to try it for yourself.
Disappointingly small portions and very poor value for money in our opinion, $50 for two of us.drinks were extra, we chose the Bolognaise dish and a salad dish and the couple next to us ordered Pizza but when the food came we were all a little taken aback with what they were serving us. It was such a tiny serving of Bolognaise on the plate and the bolognaise itself presented in a very small oven dish (unbelievable small!) on the plate and then the plate itself was then bulked out by just a lot of chopped lettuce piled on the side, the Pizza the people seated near to us was supposed to be a “large “ in size but when that arrived they commented it was laughably small and with frugal toppings!
we came all away afterwards still very hungry, “should have gone to Pizza Hut perhaps instead”, the people seated near to us to also commented likewise on the quality of their own meals as well, there were few other customers in the place for some reason.very poor value in our opinion and we thought we had been “ripped off” and we were not happy at all, we will not be returning, give this one a miss! There are better eating places just a short distance away with better food (in our opinion) and one of these would in our view would have been far better value as these other venues were very busy and popular with customers like us who were staying at the Beachcomber Hotel just around the corner
2 very unhappy customers!
My daughter bought a pasta takeout which was tiny and so it was a very expensive meal. The short waiting time of 15 mins was OK, although this means it may not have been 'freshly' made and overall not as tasty as she'd hoped for from somewhere specialising in pasta and pizza. Maybe the sit down meals would be better and more generous. The service was good though, thanks.
Failed to take my partner's order and very expensive. Not a good experience overall.
I was standing next to my partner when she ordered her pizza and I ordered mine. When they came to the table with my order we were told yours won't be long. Looking at my partner. 30 mins later we asked where her pizza was only to be told she didn't order one. OMG!
The one incentive was the graciousness of the manager. I thought he was very kind. That's why I give 3 stars and not 1.
Can't go wrong with a good ol creamy pasta?
Edit:
Went back for a second time with friends. For $26.50, the lasagna was a very small portion! Smaller than the salad it came with, it was like a Salad with a side of lasagna. Unfortunate as the first meal (see above 'pasta') was really good. Lasagna was still tasty though, so hopefully they can change the serving size next time:)
We dont often eat pizza (no expert) but we thought our pizzas were very average and not worth the $60 for 2 and these were not the most expensive.
Food was good but the customer service was really slow. I ordered a beer and dint receive it at all even after asking it a few times.had to cancel it because we finished eating the food….
Great service, and very delicious food.
Host was very kind.
We are so sad that they don't have open tomorrow. We would have eaten there again before our trip goes south.
Absolutely delicious! The staff were so accommodating for our son who is allergic to dairy, egg & beef. Vegan pizza was so good, I've never seen both my fussy children eat so much so fast! Tiramisu was devine! 100% would visit again!
Fantastic service and food was delicious. Perfect portions perfectly cooked. Absolutely will be back next time we're in town
More than happy with my experience yesterday. Very attentive staff, food was incredibly flavourful (pasta was mind-blowingly good). Fair prices for what we got.
Unfortunately, not great. We got the vegan patch pizza. The kumara and pumpkin were both undercooked - they were still quite crunchy and had to take them off. If I was dining in, I'd send it back, but we picked up. The bases were nice, and good service, but wouldn't rush back.
10/10 service especially the older guy. Very accommodating and attentive and also gave us a good deal on pizza later at night when everything was closed! Amazing pizza recommend!
The service was good although when you order a margarita pizza you would expect toppings rather then just a crispy pizza base.
There were 14 of us in our group (7 kids and 7 adults) and quite late on a January weeknight. Hot rock accommodated us all so well. We had the chowder, mussels and pizza. Everything was superb! A little bit of entertainment when delivering my cocktail was appreciated!
Let's say, had way better woodfired pizza else where. I attend to agree with some other reviews on here regarding the lack of topping and we found it very dry. Service was friendly.
