The Vic Mac's Brewbar reviews
60Evening Post theatre treat, pizza to tempt taste buds and waft down with a 'mean, ' mead wine. Wait staff enthusiastically engaging
Considering it’s news day and everyone is most likely tired, I have to say the staff are absolutely on form! Efficient, polite, helpful and super friendly! Great team you have, well done!
We made the mistake of going here as no one else was open on 1st Jan 4 pm. Margherita Pizza was undercooked and bland. No salt in the dough or sauce or even in the cheese not sure how they managed to do that.
Portions are tiny for the $ and the food is bland as hell. Rudest and inattentive wait staff in Nelson. Plenty of better value options in Nelson.
Tasty succulent fried chicken, good selection beverages, lovely service and outside area was nice way spend time in Nelson.
What a great pub/eatery they have established here. It some how has that old school pub feel, with a great restaurant/ eatery to boot.
The food is excellent, well priced and fresh!
The staff are fantastic, helpful and chatty.
Loved our visit here and will absolutely be back.
Good food, great service, central spot, sit outside and it's like a cute fun pub, inside a bit more business but still lovely!
Used to come here all the time when we lived in Nelly years ago, came back and it's still just as good but with more beers! Cheers guys for bringing the same ol friendly attitude and making it feel like home.
Nice for a drink but the food was not cheap and was poor quality. Nachos were like cardboard and sandwich very greasy. But the staff were lovely and it’s a nice atmosphere.
Had Fish of the Day- very poor with a small piece of fish in an overcooked batter accompanied with a limp salad that looked like it had been sitting out on the bench all afternoon and all this for $27.00!
When the waiter asked how my meal was I told him, to which he disagreed with me! I won't be back here!
We had a group of 24. Service was good, however food was well under par to the point of disappointment for many.
Nice enough bar with cheery service but the nachos were at best, average, only the cheese was warm, guac had a bit of a strange taste, wouldn’t have again.
It had fantastic NZ hospitality ar its best. Food and drinks with a smile and a chat which is so welcoming. Certainly will return.
Had to strongly encourage the waitress to check our Covid pass that she just looked at. But, the (Scottish?) waiter came over and explained why the kids Mac n cheese had changed due to the beer cheese sauce, we advised we had no problem with it and everything was going well. But, the cheese and gravy fries were simply disgusting: salty cheese sauce, with salty gravy on fries would have been fine to work with, but this was on top of heavily salted deep fried fries. We put it aside and a waitress asked how it was an we said "frankly just o.k" she cheerfully replied " OH that's Great! " and bounced off. We made a complaint and the (Scottish?) waiter apologized.then preceded to lie to us about that he has asked if our meal was o.k, when he didn't.he just bought us a pizza box (at our earlier request) because we "were slowing down"
I made a statement about their food without wanting a refund, just being honest, however was lied to about what took place tonight in return. Poor form.
Pretty poor service. Waitress was pretty unapologetic and blunt when we were told pretty much everything we wanted to order was unavailable because they had run out. Extremely long wait times considering it wasn't that busy. The wait time was never mentioned, only once we asked how long it would be after waiting an hour and a half, they told us quite a lot longer.
Had the worst experience today, the service was terrible mucked up drinks order meals were very average, wouldn't go back, lady at payment time did give us a 20% discount,
Sat oitside in the sun had nice pint or two of Rat rod and excellent pizza.great way to spend an early evening
The Vic Pub is great! The staff are so lovely and friendly. However went there for dinner last night which they were using Burger Culture menu. So disappointed. The cous cous salad was dry and tasted like it’d been in the fridge the entire lockdown. Couldn’t manage more than 3 mouthfuls. The fried chicken was just plonked on a plate without sauce and the burgers were dry. The loaded fries however were pretty good. Please bring back your menu!
Saturday night rugby, drinks and meal. Great service and steak meal was excellent value. Great pub with a good vibe.
Absolutley horrible experience, even though we had a group booking, we were forced to sit appart at three different tables on tall stool seats that were very uncomfortable. After we ordered, they came back to tell us there was only one steak available between the five of us who ordered it (there were 15 in our group). So we had to reorder. They then came back to say that they had no chicken either. It seems their menu was a work of fiction.
My colleagues who did receive chicken, in the form of burgers, said they we cold and unappetizing when they got them. I work for a locally based company with our head offices in Nelson. Our company and our customers will never be visiting this establishment again.
