Alfresco's Restaurant & Bar reviews
76On spring break we intended to have our dinner here, and the waiter at 6: 45 pm told us the kitchen was closed. Today (summer holidays) we went for breakfast, they told us that without Booking we couldn't get in, but they didn't offer us take away either. Lots of empty tables and waiters who don't seem to want to work.
Quite disappointing. Nice locale and the food was just okay but the service was poor. Staff pretty much had no idea about how to run front of house the staff were teenagers we saw 2 groups come in and take a seat but staff pretty much ignored them, and so they got up and walked out. In our case we were able to order drinks fairly quicky, but then no follow up to order food. After waiting a fair while, in the end I had to walk up to the counter and order. No napkins/serviettes on the table, had to ask for a bottle of water then ask for glasses to decant the water. The girl who served us "Sammy" had totally no idea about customer service. Like I say the food was okay but the service atrocious. I probably wouldnt recommed this place to anyone which is a shame as its in a good location and has the potential but just need to get rid of the children working front of house and get some experience in there.
Had lovely breakfast here, very relaxed great setting right across the road beautiful sea views.
Seating available inside & out, and the look of the food was incredible, photos don’t do enough justice. Everything was delicious and fresh and DELICIOUS
Tasty meals, cosy and entertaining atmosphere, welcoming staff!
Pets are welcomed, or at least dogs (so don't bring your possum pet just in case!)
They offer meals from breakie to dinner, and tasty beverages. Their battered fish and chips was something i will recommend to try. The extra treat is the sea view from the outside tables!
Had a great Father's day lunch with my girls, wife, daughter and 2 granddaughters. Very friendly and prompt service excellent food and great setting. Will definitely be back.
Went in for an early lunch yesterday only to find people smoking in the front area - something that's been illegal since 2004. Tried to make the best of it but the smell lingered even after the smokers were moved, the menu was uninspiring, and the service non-existent. Had a much better experience at another cafe in town.
Very good cafe on the road, i like coffee here.
For vegetarians, there is are a options, but you have to modify it. See the picture baby spinach with bearnaise sauce (made up of egg and yogurt and tomato) on roasti (roasted potatoes) with beans in tomato gravy.
Excellent veg dish.
My husband orders seafood chowder whenever it’s available in any restaurants. I am glad he persuaded me to order the same and I must say it was good. Best part was It has mussels that I like.
Poor food and long waits. Even with an empty dining area. Menu is not descriptive. Food was poor. Bad customer service. Would not recommend this place if you want to have a good experience.
We were very impressed. Staff are still getting past COVID interruptions. We had a kitchen hand as a waiter. He did a fine job. Great to see the kiwi “ We will get through this “ spirit in action …. With a bit of humour. Food was excellent and well presented.
Below average. The service is slow the menu isn't very descriptive and the food was average.
Great Food and beautiful view, right at the bay. We drove down from Tacapuna and were fairly hungry by the afternoon so we got a bit intense into the sea food menu with good vegetarian options because my colleague is a strict vegetarian.
Recently got to enjoy the food that was provided by an event organised by Unforgettable Fun which included: fresh fruit salad, eggs bene on a potato rosti granola and coffee for breakfast which were all very delicious. Lunch on the boat was just as good with scallops, raw fish, oysters, salads, salmon, prawns, yummy pate, bread. Cannot rate highly enough, very very nice food. Thank you, will definitely be back.
Nothing better than being welcomed by a beautiful breakfast! The food was catered to us and it was divine. Thank you guys for organising such yummy breakfast food!
Service was good but a bit slow, had to wait a while after being seated for someone to come and take our order
A bit pricey
Superb location but disappointed a little with the meal. I ordered roast duck which came with fondant potatoes. I'm sorry on two points. What I received was really boiled potatoes with a tinge of brown colouring on a couple of them. No way were they fondant potatoes
The chef needs to be taight how to make fondant potatoes.
Secondly I was given a roast duck leg not what i was expecting. The meal in my opinion was wrongly describef on the menu. It should have stated it was a leg not roast duck.
Finally the garic bread was plain long bread rolls cut in half and spread with garlic butter and not toasted either.
Overall a disappointment and would have to think hard about returning.
Staff were friendly, it took a while for someone to take our order after we were seated abit expensive for breakfast
Best place in Paihia for breakfast, delicious food, friendly staff, beautiful location. Smoothies are really good too!
Good friendly polite service. Breakfast wasn't that good and was expensive for what you got. The smoothies we're yum and the coffee was very nice. Bit gutted the eggs bene didn't come with bread.
