Indian Spice Kaitaia Restaurant & Takeaway reviews
42 We had dinner on October 31,2023 in this restaurant, which accepted us even though it was close to closing. The dish was very good. The friendly welcome and impeccable service. Thank you again for allowing us to eat. We recommend this establishment.
Ginou and Sébastien from France
Saurabh at the front was very good and helpful.guided us well. Food was good but can be better.
$25 for a single butterchicken and it's disgusting avoid this place unless your doing a vlog of the worst eats on earth.
Curry was super tasty! Plenty of rice and we’ll priced. Only slight negative was that the chicken was a little dry but still a great place!
Very delicious
atmosphere is not important
The meal itself is delicious enough
Watching me clear the disc is enough proof
The vegetarian options are awesome.
First time to Katia and happy to see a Indian resturant. Popped in a place was done out with a classy Indian theme. When going somewhere new for curry wasn't holding out big hopes for a knockout curry BOOM that's what we got. We got the vege options on lunch menu, perfect textures, layered flavouring, we like Indian hot and perfect heat level. Naans were bubbly with crispy parts. Yum. Kingfisher beer to top it off and we were set for the day and drive back to whangarei. Thanks for the top food we will be back!
Delicious Indian meal, everything fresh, hot, wonderfully tasty with an exceptionally clean restaurant. Amazing food! Unfortunately I collected my takeaways and they insisted on an additional 30cents for the plastic carry bag! Maybe it’s just cultural differences to try and get every cent you possibly can; but imagine selling a milkshake and then demanding and extra 30c for the paper cup!
Indian Spice Kaitaia has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in northland. Beautiful deep flavours, consistent quality and promt service. My favourite is their lamb vindaloo. Yummy tender meat. They even do dairy free meals and naans which is lovely.
Very good food, not even mediocre but rather poor service. Maybe we were unlucky but the waiter was just useless AF. Even food itself was good, the experience is rather weak
Delicious meal, everything fresh and hot and really tasty. Went there as we had always enjoyed the Mangonui restaurant and we we not disappointed
Waiters asked how the food was:
Vegetarian Platter for 2: Onion Bhaji and vegetable patties were way over cooked, dry, yet over-oily with a mostly burned bitter flavour. Waiters both confirmed these were cooked once on a different day and not used, so bagged up, frozen and deep fried a second time - therefore overcooked, dry and bitter - Rehashed/recycled food.
Butter Chicken: Chicken was dry, overly salted with very low flavour due to lack of spices used.
Waiters both advised me the chef thought there was nothing wrong with these, even though they both agreed they were not good and apologised.
Suggestion:
1) Chef has a reality check to avoid customers voting with their feet, especially considering we were the only ones in the restaurant in the middle of a long weekend.
2) Waiters need only to simply thank customers for their feedback instead of hanging around for ages profusely apologising and offering a 10% discount.
3) Waiters could ask what we wanted for desert to up-sell and make more income for the business. Instead this was not prompted.
4) Use chicken thigh meat instead of breast meat which goes hard and dry easily.
Returned for lunch visit Nov 2022:
Butter chicken resembles over salted tomato soup again.
Butter chicken was excessively salty and under spiced. Salty tomato soup.
Loud rap music wasn't helpful.
Hello everyone
we really appreciate their customers service if we talk about food it was really delicious and yummy
if anyone come around this area plz try it.thanks
Service was good but food quality very bad.we ordered Goat masala for mains and the goat was not even properly cooked totally waste of money. Not recommend at all.
Placed an order a while back now, I will admit.
I placed an order of around $150.00 and received the rudest customer service, food was cold and very underwhelming.
Being someone that loves traditional Indian cuisine, I'd be a little bit shy of serving up such food.
Disappointing. Haven't been back since. Others have had different experiences, but I'm in no rush at all to go back here.
Best Authentic Indian food in Kaitaia.
Especially in Vegetarian.
Good quantity of curry with Best Quality as well.
Overall super satisfied Food.
Thanx
I came here a few months ago with my dad.these guys have the best butter chicken i’ve tasted in the far north.when we left my dad accidentally left his hat at the restaurant, luckily the staff were kind enough to keep it for the night and return it the next day.
Waited a very long time after rude service. Have been getting the same thing for 8 months only to be told that's not how it goes. Maybe under new management? Won't be back, very disappointed
Really excellent food tucked along the Main Street in Kaitaia, Northland. Good value and very highly recommended.
Food wasn't bad! Actually the lamb vindalo was delicious! Only thing was the portions are very small and ridiculously over priced, wouldn't have mind the price so much if there was more. Also the lunch menu is very basic, no variety, just a selection of curries with naan. Which is quite disappointing given the diversity and complex of Indian cuisine.
