Just Fish and Chips / JFC

We both had JFC fish and chips special, one snapper and one blue grenadier (I think) and both were delicious, fresh and well cooked. We ate in and the fish and chips came wrapped in paper but we got cutlery (so no greasy fingers). The sauce choices were good and we enjoyed the curry sauce (just with the chips of course). We also tried the scallops which were very fresh and cooked well (and came on a plate). A good selection of beer and wine was available, many local.

Food was good but service was slow. We waited nearly an hour after ordering to receive our food. The place itself was clean open bright and staff were friendly. But priced a bit high for fish and chips served in paper and self pick up

Really friendly staff and delicious food. Lovely outside space to sit and while the evening away, or hide away inside when it's cold or wet.

We really enjoyed our night at JFC. The staff were great, lovely setting and highly recommend the platter for two. So much wonderful food that we couldn't finish it. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

We ordered a meal for two, but as you can see, it was huge! This platter is super suitable. We have been traveling to New Zealand for two weeks and this can be said to be a very delicious restaurant! Every dish is delicious and not a surprise!

It was our 2 year anniversary so thought we would go out for dinner but when we ordered we got takeaways and charged 28.00 per person for fish n chips wrapped in paper like the local fish n chip bar. My piece of fish was so undersized I felt sorry for it. Barely legal. No plate, no salad, honestly it was overpriced takeaways. Really disappointing. Could have got the same for 10,00 down the road. Friendly staff, nice place, just takeaway food.

Best restaurant in town! The ambience in the restaurant really fits the coastal town vibe & the staff are absolutely lovely. All the dishes we had were amazing, the fish is freshly caught every day! Next to all this the restaurant is also really cheap for what you get, great value for money!

Really lovely gluten free fish and chips! Was amazed they could offer battered or crumbed for gluten free! Highly recommend!

Top notch fish and chips and great service. Had the beer battered fish, done with a light touch. And the mussel fritters were the best I’ve had. Again, light and airy. Top marks to cooks and service staff. And good atmosphere as well.

This place is a real gem in Paihia! Great atmosphere, friendly service and delicious fish and chips! Wish I was staying here longer, so I could try some other items from the menu!

Pretty much a regular here, and the food is always consistent, the staff is amazing and it's a great vibe.

What better place to experience the bay of Islands and enjoy a great meal and drink. There are games and colouring in options for kids. Plenty of space for kids to play safely while you finish your meal. Right across the road from the beach. Gluten free options available

Absolutely amazing fish and chips! A lovely light but crispy batter over the fish and AMAZING tartare sauce. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend you stopping by for a bite to eat.

Probably the best fish and chips I've had in New Zealand, with a great home made tartare sauce. Great atmosphere, friendly staff with quality customer service. Highly recommend this gem of a place!

We had the seafood platter. Had hoped for a bit more. Everything tasted good but not more than that. Could have been a bit more elegant even for a fancier "take away-ish" place like this. Excellent service

Fantastic group dining experience. There was about 10 of us and everyone loved the food, atmosphere and staff. Quirky way of presenting your food for a restaurant but I loved it and thought it was more hygienic anyway. Highly recommend.

We had a wonderful meal on a rainy Friday night. I don't know how we managed to finished that seafood platter as it was huge! Look forward to visiting again the next time we are in Paihia.

Was looking for Fish n chips and JFC looked a little flash for what we were after but the reviews were outstanding - and justified as it turned out. We sat in anyway because the staff were so nice and welcoming. We had raw fish and fnc which were prepared superbly. Tomato sauce on the table, tartar and aioli all the good stuff. Top notch kai in a lovely setting with professional hospitality staff Top drawer experience!
