63 Very busy 27 December morning. Queued and ordered an almond croissant and a loaf of 5 grain bread to go. The bread was incredibly salty and didn't feel or taste freshly baked. It was inedible.
Sadly the croissant also seemed less than fresh.
I wouldn't bother stopping there again. For those prices you'd expect top quality.
Nice food really nice but the atmosphere was average. I will say it was super busy and pouring with rain
Awesome pies, best I’ve had for ages. I couldn’t find the bin for my bag, so I put it in my car. A woman came out of the store and said she saw me looking for a bin. She took the bag for me. That’s great service. I used to stop in Wellsford on my way up North. This will be my stop from now on.
Usually love this place as our go to stop up north. Extremely disgusted at the fact that I was told ‘what is this, why get that, why bother’ said extremely loud with another comment ‘I’m never making that again’ when being handed my coffee with a scoff at me to top it off. My coffee order was a trim decaf mocha. Horrified at the tone and aggression behind her words. Ella on the other hand was lovely, maybe she should be your customer spokes person?
Gotta be the best fresh cream donuts. All other foods fresh and made on-site. And the coffee is perfect.
This is a but frustrating. Bought a $7.90 ciabatta earlier, was clearly from the day before; dry and stiff, left it on the table outside. Croissant was moist, bready and quite possibly a day old too.
Were owners actually in Italy before?
Nice lamb focaccia, good flavours and textures. My brother had a below-average pie which was disappointing.
Purchased a mince and cheese pie which had virtually no meat and full of gloopy jelly like gravy. Been in bed for 36 hours with numerous visits to the WC. I recommend you don’t eat there.
We always stop in here on our way to the bach. I get two of the Danishs there really good 1st thing in the morning. The Samies are good and the coffee as well. I really need to try more but I tend to go for Danishs. Toilets are clean and the service is always friendly. There's seating inside and out and parking has never been an issue. Norm norm norm
Yes please, great ròlls, pies, cream donuts, coffee, tables and a newspaper. A great stop for travelers going north or back to Auckland
Staff abrupt and impatient. Food I bought, a bacon and egg bap, was like biting into a bowl of flour, the bap was stale, and the tomato was old and off. $11 down the drain. Won't be returning.
Pie was dry and grungy and not worth 6.20 you could see the setting agent like gel doughnuts were covered in sugar terrible place 10 years ago was great
Gosh, I wasted $6.10 on a goopy, hard steak and cheese pie. My focaccia sandwich and coffee was just ok. Nonna would not be happy.
Iconic stop on a road trip North. Coffee is good. So are the pies. Arrive early in the day to avoid missing out.
So bad croissants as they were not fresh at all. Squashed and somewhat stiff. After selling us the croissants they changed the tray with the new freshly baked ones. When returned back to the cashier telling it's not fresh and if they can change it. The reply and feedback was like as if I was getting those croissants for free. Not the service you'd expect from such a name and shop. That was really so frustrating experience with the baking quality and the service as well. I don't recommend it to anyone nor we will try it again!
Frozen veg in the Muffin, yuck! What a cheap shameful practice. Taste was bloody awful. Not in keeping with their other products which are generally great.
Well worth finding as you head north of Auckland. The hot cross buns were a bit pricey.but we're stopping for more on the way back. Great selection of other savoury and sweet treats.
The pastries are divine but the only vege option was a muffin with frozen veges in it (peas corn carrots) which weren't visible on purchase. Not great.
Really nice pies and doughnuts. Service is excellent. Nice clean toilet. Great place for a stop over.
