One of our memories of North Island, New Zealand, which was most enjoyable. The tour guide was most entertaining and informative as regards the history of the Maori people in that area, as well as informative about the fauna and flora.
A 90-mile beach, where vehicles are allowed to drive on the sand. What madness! As expected, there are not many people and there is plenty of space to put your towel and umbrella.
What an experience riding on the beach! Finally there are few people on it, which gives the impression of being alone in the world. With a bit of luck, it is also possible to see wild horses in the dunes. However, be careful to have a 4x4 to borrow it
The all-terrain bus excursion is beautiful and highly recommended, and being able to throw yourself down the sand dunes
What an amazing spot to watch the sunset and go for a drive on the beach. A unique beach experience!
The way to this spot is private property, not allowed access, may need to search for Ninety Mile Beach - Hukatere Access Ramp.
Wait idol spot to watch the sunset and go for a drive on the beach. A unique beach experience!
So cool, driving on the sand right next to the ocean, so peaceful, on a road that is officially a highway, just be careful, you can get stuck if the tide is too high, and not many rental companies approve this
Great place to visit. Nice drive. Make sure to have good car or nearby locals if you get stuck.
We rushed down the beach in a special bus made solely for this occasion. It was a great experience and sure like to visit this place again in the future. We didn't see that much wildlife other then seagulls a some birds but still, a nice drive towards the most Northern part.
Breathtaking views, fantastic experience we had with family. Came here twice in early morning and late afternoon. Enjoyed our walks with shell picking, watching fish on the shore, coaches passing by and people just having fun taking time to enjoy God’s gift to mankind. Highly recommended
This is called 90 mile beach because it is EXACTLY 55 miles long. I know, I don't get it either
This place is a must for everyone. The view is beautiful. It's very peacefull, made my soul feel at peace. Photos & some videos attached.
P. S - Be carefull odf the cars & utes driving on this beach.
Ninety Mile Beach trip to Cape Reinga, was a great experience for me. This beautiful trip shows you a part of the Northern Territory of New Zealand.
You can start your trip from Paihia and end at Cape Reinga (the last end point of northern New Zealand or peak of new Zealand) that is a gorgeous scenic view to explore. I really recommend this beautiful trip.
90 mile gives an infinite view of beach which is very rare and fantastic to experience.
If you haven't been to 90 mile beach and you're planning on enjoying a trip to New Zealand I highly recommend you put this on your list of things to do in the North Island. Beautiful peaceful and very few people around so if you want peace quiet and still have access to some fantastic restaurants cafes shopping, then this is the place for you.
It was totally amazing but there was no clear direction and the way towards the beach was a real struggle. Gravel based long road was a threat to our car tyres. Not sure why Govt or local authorities aren't doing anything about a popular destination.
Scenic beach, try driving it down in a 4 wheel drive! Plan well your entrance and exit points as it is poorly indicated execpt for the southernmost point
When I was told that you can drive on beaches in New Zealand I didn't believe it. One of the most beautiful and pleasant drives I have ever gone on. One of the other things that most people from New Zealand told me is that if I want to see a penguin I would need to see them on the south island near sunset. Much to my surprise I found a very friendly blue penguin at noon on the north island.
If you want to see something that is really out of place, here is a photo of my rental toyota Hiass on a beach.
The beach is great, and 5 stars overall, but I'm giving it 4 stars because of the lying New Zealand marketers/people in charge of naming the beach. I walked the beach from end to end and only came up with 54.76 miles. I walked back to the other end and came up with the same number, 54.76. This is blatant false advertising looking to lure people in with the promise of a ninety mile stretch of sand. It's been my lifelong goal to walk a beach 10 miles more than a previous year. I was hoping to get to 100 next year. In the past 9 years i've walked beaches that are 10,20, , 30,40,50,60,70, and 80 miles and I was hoping to add a 90 mile one to my portfolio. Now I have to start over at 10 again, very frustrating and has put my life goals back 9 years. Thanks New Zealand! I've found Kiwis to normally be honest, good hearted people, but this beach has made me question not only their honesty, but life in general. Overall a great beach but needs to be renamed the 54.76 mile beach or 88.127 kilometer beach.
I walked the whole beach and it’s an unbelievable experience! It’s cruel, hard an amazing at once! Be open for it and do it!
