Peppertree Lodge Backpackers

Room was reasonably clean. Kitchen needs cleaning and the fridges were completely full with an off putting smell. The property has no after hours monitoring and the noise was out of control. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet night.

One of my favourite hostel experiences around NZ. People were really friendly (all travelling through rather than Paihia locals). It was 3min walk to the beach and the hostel supplied tea, coffee, milk sachets etc which was lovely. Brilliant kitchen space but WiFi was not available in our room and laundry was no longer available on site. Otherwise, fantastic!

The most magical hostel. A couple of minutes away from the water front if that. Beautiful clean rooms, really welcoming staff. The beachy feel in all of the shared spaces was gorgeous and we had the best time here. One of the cheapest hostels we’ve stayed in but probably our favourite. A must stay if you are in Pahia

Great value for money! Bathrooms always clean, they provide towels, easy checkin and checkout, friendly people staying. The wifi is not great but well, it’s a holiday anyways!

This hostel is a hit or miss, it's well priced, well located and the beds/living room are good. But the kitchen is really dirty, the wifi is slow and the water tastes like soil. The weirdest thing at this hostel is that they close the common area at 11 pm. All other hostels I have ever been only required you to be quiet in the common area after a certain hour. I would say for the price it was worth it.

Best hostel experience for me so far. The staff are awesome and everything is always so clean and easy to find. Not too busy but not quiet either. Perfect location close to town, beach and bars. I like the windows and the cat too. Thanks guys!

Very good accommodation for backpackers. I booked 4 beds room with balcony and I was nicely surprised how many space we get compare to others accommodations in the area. Staff was also very helpful.

It was lovely. It is my fourth stay, the first was in the bunk room, the second with my elderly mother, who was in her 99's, next with my husband and this time with a friend who is over from Australia. Each time the facilities have been excellent, the staff and guests friendly and the stay has been most enjoyable.

Sehr tolles Hostel mit sehr freundlichem Personal. Die Zimmer waren genauso wie auf den Fotos und der Aufenthaltsraum sowie die Küche waren sehr sauber.
WLAN war überall sehr gut, gegen Abend wenn sehr viele eingeloggt waren, ließ es etwas nach aber das ist ja normal.
Ansonsten kann ich das Hostel nur empfehlen.

Beautiful location right near the beach and wonderful facilities and communal area. Peppertree attracts a wonderful like of traveler and I had many great conversations in the kitchen and on the couches in the lounge room. The employees were all very helpful and friendly and there is a laundry on site as well as movies and access to tennis equipment. All around an excellent stay.

This place isn’t worth it we do not recommend anyone to stay here. We travel a lot and we use many accomodations everything was good till we reach here.

Excellent doesn't begin to cover it. Had a surprise birthday in the area and needed accommodation for 20 of my family. Had heard good things from friends and was not disappointed when Josh - the very attentive (and cute) manager - saw to our every need. The facilities were top notch, the living areas were spacious, well stocked and very clean/tidy. My entire Whanau were raving about it the whole weekend. Fantastic value for money, great location and the tennis court & pool were a great bonus too. Highly recommend to anyone going to Paihia for the weekend. Would give 6 stars if I could! Thanks Josh and the team if you see this we will be back!

Love this place. Second time we stay here while in Paihia. The facilities are super well maintained and clean. Staff are friendly and helpful and our room and beds were very comfy

Awesome place to stay. Quite new rooms/facilities. Close to the main town and the bars. The host/manager was so nice and helpful. Highly recommend

We stayed the night here a few weeks back. Whilst it was ‘off season’, the lodge and room left us with a bit of a bitter taste.

The rooms have very thin walls, to the extent that you can hear conversations next door as if they are in the room. Whilst the room was clean on the surface, we quickly realised that it had not been thoroughly cleaned in some time - there were empty beer bottles under the bed, the shower was blocked and there were suspicious stains on some of the blankets.

Unfortunately, the heater was also broken in the room. We informed reception (by email) and one was dropped off in our room without us being there (not ideal that people just let themselves into your private room without permission).

Finally, each time we went to the reception, it was vacant and no staff on site to directly speak to face-to-face.

On the plus side - the shared space is quite nice, with a communal tv and sofas. I used the shared bathroom once which looked to be nice as well - so I would recommend booking a shared bathroom suite as opposed to an ensuite room.

We stayed a week in Pahia and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. Very handy location. Friendly staff and a reasonably quite mini apartment. All for as price that didn't break the bank. Used the free kayaks which you can take out on the day. Warning.no bikes as advertised in their website.

Everything close by, food, bars, beach, laundry mat, friendly ppl, take a stroll down Paihia, stunning
