Scenic Outlook reviews
8Great view to stop at, if you are passing by. The trail to it is pretty short and well maintained, so it should be easy for everyone to get there.
It is one of the most scenic places on the west coast of New Zealand's North Island. There is a large parking lot for easy parking, and there are short and very long walking courses. The short walk takes about 20 minutes round trip towards the end of the coast, but the long walk takes several hours round trip and appears to be along the coast.
If you go to the end of the coast on a short walking course, you can see the sand dunes on the other side and a nice beach below. There is no separate road leading down to the beach, but it seems like you can go down and come up if you want. The scenery combined with the beach is beautiful, and the sand dunes across the street are also nice, so it would be a good place to stop by for a short walk or take a long walking course. Also, I was able to visit this place because the weather was good on my international flight back to Korea, but the view from the sky was just that.
We were watching a crayfish boat going out of the Hokianga Harbour entrance just before the sun set.
It was amazing. Absolutely stunning walk to the Scenic Track.
People had the right idea they went to Opononi Fish Takeaways and ordered their meal and came to the lookout to eat. Clever.
The view was well worth going. Sorry I did take photos of the sunset.
You do not need a ticket to visit it is free for everyone to go an visit. You do not need to wait to enter.
Just make sure you take your money and backpacks with you.to be safe.
Another beautiful view that you can't miss on the "normal" tourist routes. Too bad actually.
A great place to overlook the whole of the Hokianga Harbour, the giant sand dunes and The Bar.
Excellent easy walk 15 minute round trip. Great views opportunities to do walks to 2 other beaches or coastal hill walk.
Fabulous 360 degree views of the harbor and ocean. Wonderful sea breeze. Feels a world away from the the drag of modern life.
