18The owners are so kind and friendly. Excellent service. Delicious smoked chicken salad and Marsden Sauvingnon. Highly recommend this bar /restaurant. Favourite place in Paihia. Thanks guys
Had the big breakfast, wife had the bacon and eggs on toast. Tasty and reasonably priced, good coffee.
Very long wait despite being half empty.
The food was alright but not worth an 1h20m of waiting
The two staff behind the counter were friendly and were working hard to get orders out.
We were told it would be a 40 minute wait but was eventually double that.
The burgers were a little dry and chips were a bit soft. Value for money was fine though. I’d give the burgers themselves 4 stars.
I love the smoked BBQ food at the Hideout. The new owners have gone to a lot of trouble to create a funky clean restaurant with great food, drink & service. We had a shared platter and a Smoked Brisket Panini - it was all YUM. We'll be back
Great food coffee and service and very friendly staff. We had a great time will sure come back when on our next holiday. Great breakfast to start the day. And Great meat platter.
This place has great potential, but there is work to do. The waitress was friendly but it took a long while to get our meat platter. A couple of the meats were great, but the other two rather dry (chicken and pork). The wine list is.not good. It's like if your only beer selection was a Wild Buck or a Tui.
Nothing that can't be fixed, so hopefully it will be.
I was a bit hesitant going to a meat place for the vegetarian option but it was one of the best vegetarian burgers I have had. Smoked tofu with so much flavour.
The burgers would taste better if the smoke had some flavour or wasn’t so strong, or they have other flavour notes. My friends and I ordered the fish burger and tofu burger, and thought they were like eating an ash tray. The tofu didn’t have any other seasoning, and the burgers were lacking in fresh or flavoured ingredients that would balance the strong smokiness (eg pickles, sauces). We also thought the cauliflower bites were too thickly battered, making them quite gluggy. The restaurant itself was nice and clean, with a lovely outdoor area. However, the service was very slow and there was only one other small group of customers.
The platter was nice to share and every other dishes were all well made:) Nice place to spend a relaxing evening.
Had a beautiful breakfast this morning, the bacon, avocado and egg panini was phenomenal! Great service and atmosphere as well
Epic hearty food good bang for your buck I reckon! See ya when I'm back in town for another epic brisket burger! Thank you guys for the awsoume and friendly service
They say the best tasting restaurants are off the beaten track, that's definitely the case here. If your a fan of smokey flavours this place is a must visit. Recommend 100% for a tasty lunch or dinner.
Awesome vibes, primo kai. Definately a go to destination and food is served till late. We ordered Terry's Lamb Burger, Bayshore Smoked Fish Burger and the 2 smoked meats and 2 sides (cheesy garlic bread and mushrooms). Everything was beautiful the smokiness in the Lamb burger was to die for and the Fish burger was next level. With family due over from Australia we will definately be coming back.
Good vibes, great music and enjoyed the food, especially since the smoker was on and the chef was making smoked pork shoulder.
So freaking yummy! Cool, friendly vibe, and nice to sit outside away from the more busy main streets.gf options appreciated.
I had the chicken burger for lunch and it was spectacular, very juicy and nice spices. I was heading home with a trailer and there was parking outside (very rare to get trailer parking in central paihia) and had the pulled pork pita pockets. Nice meat and a very nice slaw. The pricing is about the same as most places in paihia but the quality of the food is exceptional.
Had the chicken burger and it was cooked perfectly, better then any chicken burger I’ve had, highly recommend
