The Quay reviews
67Delicious food served by amazing staff. Thank you for a great night out. Would have been all 5 stars but the music was a little loud to have easy conversations.
We are regulars with the Quay it's one of our favourite restaurants, we normally leave really happy. Unfortunately we were there the other day and we left disappointed. We ordered the 600g rib eye steak to share. When it was served it was four small pieces and a large bone. The steak was clearly not 600g the weight was mostly in the bone. When asking the chef about this he said that it was pre packed when it comes to the restaurant. We will definitely not be ordering that order again.
No more business for The Quay from us anymore. Yet another place that discriminates against people. We're going to have our work doo there but due to The Quays stand they can stick their food where the sun doesn't shine. We are for equality and don't tolerate or support segregation. Hope your pathetic stance costs you your business. We are taking our business elsewhere from now on.
Service was good but new menu disappointing, no pig out on pizza menu which is there best pizza.
Love eating here outside at the Marina. 3 of us tried several dishes. Meals were tasty but fish in the tacos was a bit dry inside and batter was fatty we all agreed. Maybe leave fish coating off altogether? Same owners' Cafe in Waipu the following evening was a good step up!
Excellent as always, and good to see The Quay packed on the first Saturday under the new Covid traffic light system. Fish tacos were delicious and the staff really made us feel welcome.
Very good service and meals are Devin fresh and great size and variety
Great for family and functions
Staff are very helpful and friendly
Will happily recommend to others
Well impressive takeaway. We had the beer battered hapuka, side if chips and a pizza.
Fantastic meal. Definitely a indulgence for a great takeaway. Nice work Kitchen.
My family and I enjoyed a delicious lunch.portions were well worth it. Lovely setting on the Hatea water front/ or Town Basin as known by the locals. Plan on making this venue our regular 'go too' place.
The menu has a good variety of options and the food definitely meets the advertised brief. There is always a tasty selection of options in the specials board if you are looking for something delicious and different to the main menu. The service is great and the restaurant has the decor that aligns with the sophistication and good quality of the food and drinks selection. A place we return to time and time again and are not disappointed
Prices are good, service is excellent and food is delicious. Pretty good coffee, too.
All served up in a great atmosphere.
Great surroundings. Really good service and delivery. Food was fairly average and a little overdone. We had the snack menu which was what it was. We will return to have an evening meal to complete our experience.
Definitely a different experience with the new head chef now. I love all the "Trust the chef" options on their menu.
The food that everyone ordered was beautiful!
We had an absolutely wonderful French waitress, who was the most lovely person!
Definitely will be going back again.
Need to try No. 8 with their new menu now too.
Bit disappointed that the "fresh fruit " with the smoothie bowl was half a sliced banana, but was still lovely and refreshing
I have always rated The Quay as a great restaurant and amoung my top 3 choices if going out for a nice dinner or lunch. (Below is a review I left 3 years ago.) However, the last 2 times I've visited with my family it's been hugely disappointing. My son has multiple food allergies, making dining out a difficult task. But knowing that the Quay offer vegan cheese we've ordered him a vegan cheese pizza with no sauce - basically its cheese on toast - not hard, right? Both times we were left waiting, and waiting, and waiting as the kitchen made mistake after mistake with getting the order right. Meanwhile they delivered our orders to us, leaving a hangry 2 year old to watch everyone else at the table get their food long before him. A pretty shallow apology was offered when I complained about the service. Both times our family lunch was ruined. I won't be in a hurry to return to The Quay.

Amazing food! Great service. Espresso martinis. What more would ya want? It's a bit on the spendy side but well worth it.
One of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The food was beautiful and the service was excellent. We were seated quickly even though they were busy and everyone was happy. Will definitely be back!
Lovely service & atmosphere Can be expensive if you are hungry. Must read or check what you are ordering because it may not be as appetizing as you thought.
Confusion over orders and extra charges for items not asked for like olives made the experience unpleasant. Once again their coffee was over done & extremely bitter. Twenty minutes was then spent at the end of the evening waiting for the bill to come so we could pay.
The main meal was nice however but was overshadowed but what had transpired.
Great food and service. Reasonably priced. Excellent range of gluten free options. Coeliac safe. Will definitely return.
Out of Level 4 and into Level 3 so of course no cooking tonight! We ordered the takeaway fish and chips from our fav restaurant. Yes as experienced in the wonderful world before Level 4, with various other meals we have eaten there the fish and chips tonight were delicious and very generous sizes. The batter was crispy and the fish was fresh. Each piece in it’s own box slice of lemon and 2 condiments We love their chips so altogether worth every bite. And served with a smile. Nice. Thanks.
