Waterfront Cafe & Bar reviews
78Great place. Amazing creative Chefs (Meitaki ma’ata-Thank you). Delicious food and our meal was a creative put together for break-fast. Friendly service, nestled in a beautiful part of the far north.
Jesse and the team are awesome. Food great, location amazing, staff so friendly, will definitely be back. Thanks guys
Great little spot overlooking the bay. Great local wine list and lovely staff. Very tasty lamb pizza.
Succulent pizzas and chef's pasta with crazy parmesan on the other hand very long service and dish a little expensive! Have a good evening by the sea!
What to say. Jessie, lift your game man. There's always something not right here (in the last 3 visits and probably the last). Once our table of 3 had to wait 20mins after being seated and no one had even taken drinks order. Sort the draft out! There is often a wind blowing through in the arvo, no one wants to dress for the snow when they're eating. Have meals show up together. The last outing the rest of the table had finished before one meal had even arrived. The food here is nice. It just needs better management and some atmosphere.
We only had coffee but lovely place and friendly service. Will go back to try their pizza which looked good
Great location with easy parking and views across the harbour. We went mid week so relatively quiet, service was friendly and efficient. All the food was good, particularly recommend the lamb shanks which were perfectly cooked, and on this occasion served with delicious truffle potatoes. Good selection of beverages too.
Let’s start with the positive - the coffee was great. They use atomic which is always great.
Now, I drove along and noticed another cafe was busier and I thought ‘Oh I’ll go support the underdog’ and Jess’s looks great I will give it a go.
I can now see why this cafe was a lot quieter. I ordered a salmon cake, which by nature can be dry, but its a favourite and it came with hollandaise sause and two poached eggs, so that should allow plenty of liquid to soak into salmon cake. However the eggs were overcooked which is fine, mistakes happen. I had to go upto the counter to ask the staff could I have some extra Hollandaise sauce. They said sure thing and that they would bring it over, I waited a bit however it never came and my food was cold now so I just finished up and left.
This place has a lot of potential and the staff are friendly, but some improvements are needed.
Had great SMOKED salmon Eggs Benedict and Cappuccino outside; nice view & peaceful. Will be back
We had an amazing beef salad. Lots of different textures and so tasty. The staff were lovely and full of the joys of life. Would definitely recommend a meal here
Top noch service and food! They couldnt have been more friendly, and the cafe spot is just georgous! A must do!
We booked for 3 adults. Great reception, lovely wine, good IPA. Huge starter of shrimp cocktail, sharing platter followed by mushroom risotto, the perfect lamb and sublime fillet. All top notch. Well done team!
Great place for dinner right on the waterfront. If the weather is nice an outside table makes for an awesome experience. I had the margarita pizza which was tasty and my other half had the spaghetti marinara (not your typical spaghetti dish) it had a ton of delicious seafood in it! Definitely recommend.
We had both breakfast and dinner here. The omelet was full of bacon and cheese.and very large. The flat white coffee we had was great. Dinner was a Scotch filet and the tenderest, most flavorful beef I’ve ever had. Simply amazing.
Firstly the staff are just wonderful!
The service - superb
The food delicious
We usually have pizzas but went for dinner this round
Definitely our first choice in Mangonui
Thank you?
Worst ice coffee we've ever had. Literally just a shot on milk and ice cubes. Less milk than a regular coffee, cost $8 even though menu says $7. Changed it to a regular coffee for us but still had to pay $8.
Lovely spot in the centre of town and with beautiful sea views. We really like how tables are arranged so that all patrons get a decent view. We ordered pizza - it was lovely: crisp, flavorsome based and generous toppings. We didn't order other items because the prices are high: $36 or $38 for a steak (for example) and then buy your potatoes, etc on the side for $10 extra. The restaurant is managed sloppily - lack of greeting when people arrive, no water brought to our tables (resulting in us and a neighbouring table of 10 helping ourselves to water from the fridge). We even walked over to a waitress to ask for our order to be taken. The use of ipads to take orders removes any chance of a personal touch because waiting staff are too focused on working out the digital system. Please train staff and make customers feel like it's worth spending money at your place.
Had dinner and breakfast here. Both times service was excellent and food was amazing. Omelette and eggs benedict with salmon for breakfast was delicious and very generous portions. Great place, will come here again
We came here as a big group and ordered breakfast. The food looked okay but really didn’t taste good. Omelettes were burnt, the potato hash for the eggs bene meals was very hard to eat. A lot of balsamic vinegar everywhere covering most of the food. Really did not live up to the hype this place. Over priced and dirty location (dirty floors and tiles) dirty bathroom - I think this bit speaks volumes. Staff seem over worked and grumpy
