Whangarei Quarry Gardens reviews
55Wow what a pleasant surprise well worth a visit. Got me inspired now to have a better garden at home. Its a shame the cafe is closed Mon and Tues
Stunning gardens running on donations and the upkeep maintained through 60+ volunteers. The cafe staff were brilliant, 10/10 service The trails and walks through well kept and stunning
Garden good cafe food and coffee good. Gender confused she/her from I guess USA or Canada working behind the counter friendly just didn't like me calling the gingerbread man a gingerbread man and was quick to attempt to tell me it's a gingerbread person but to be honest I didn't even notice she had attempted to "correct me" someone else told me
Amazing garden. Lots of cool plants. Beautiful rivers and waterfalls. There's even a tunnel underground to go through
This was a lovely day out with family, and I’d really strongly recommend it to anyone with the time.
Started the morning off at the Quail cafe, enjoying stunning coffee, and a range of food options including great Vegan options.
From there, we meandered through to begin a pre-booked Golf Cart tour with Nancy, who was a wonderfully friendly and hospitable tour guide. The cart is a great idea, and enables those with limited mobility to get up and enjoy the entirety of the gardens.
Excellent trails, waterfalls, and lots of very diverse gardens to enjoy! We came away relaxed and refreshed.
Saturday 21st January Family and friends of Aunty Joan gathered to celebrate her 80th. The setting is outstanding- have a roam in gardens
after your meal/ coffee- the service was fab as we were a big group Brady who looked after us had his work cut out for him but he didnt falter - fab dude- and the food was superb. Thanks for making my Auntys day even more special.
Beautiful garden! Warm welcome and a very pleasant wander through exquisite flora.
Cafe is great as well.
Beautiful. Unique plants, lush surrounds.
Several walking tracks, including up high around the waterfalls.
Maps provided (return on exit), Cafe on site is very good.
A gem for naturalists.
What a wicked idea it was to have a public garden located here. Beautiful gardens in a wonderful location. Take the time and take a visit. Gold coin donation entry.
Helpful staff and a beautiful walk. We will definitely be back. Please donate, all the staff there are volunteers and many have helped establish it. So good for Whangarei!
Quarry gardens? Really? That's what I thought as well. But, wow, what a stunning experience this was! From artistic sculptures to indigenous plants and trees and exotic beauties, its all here. And best of all, you can do the whole garden in under a hour with easy walkways and clearly identified paths. The Echo tunnels were a nice surprise too! We did not get to see a real Kiwi (aww!) but maybe next time. Lovely cafe on site and pay for entrance by means of gold coin admission. Or just be a jerk and don't donate.
Really nice staff, very welcoming. Nice atmosphere. Loved my breakfast meal, being vegan & gf, not much options. Still Highly Recommend & I would return definitely.
Most amazing find on our trip. Loved the arid garden and all that was there. Ran out of time to explore all the areas so need to go back. Would have liked more plant labels to identify the specimens. Can't wait to go back.
Kids without a vaccine passport <18 cannot even get it without a vaccine passport……. It’s outside……in the sun? !? The sun is one of the best things for preventative of illness and everyone knows that? ! Would a face mask not be enough for and out door activity where no physical contact is involved and plenty along space? I do no support any place where they even discriminate children based on their medical status.
Veru unique place with lovely gardens some hill's to walk up on steps, other area's have flat paths.
A must see if you love plants both native and tropical, what a transformation from what it was to what it is now great vision and still growing. Volunteers do a wonderful job.
Also got to see lots of native skinks which were babies so a good sign of life for our native species.
What a great place. The vision to create this space from the quarry. The volunteers are great. We spent 30 mins chatting with the arid garden volunteer and she was more than happy to share her knowledge.
Brilliant garden area, still some ruins of the quarry buildings dotted about.
Well worth the visit. Take your time to absorb the detail.
Nice place to take lunch and have a stroll around the gardens after. I don't enjoy the selection at the Cafe as when I have been there the food seasoning/production each time is inconsistent or disappointing. Better to take any other type of lunch into the garden and take advantage of the many beautifully placed tables.
