White Cross Whangarei reviews
40Showed up late afternoon and to my surprise the waiting room was empty. Lovely receptionist and nurse. Saw Dr. Larry who always thoroughly explains the cause and necessary treatment
Great service, but disappointed I was not advised yesterday, I would need to wait again in a big queue to see a doctor for the result today.
The nurse and doctor were so lovely and easy to talk to, I was treated nicely by both. Very disappointed with the reception lady as she totally ignores me as I walked in, I was nervous as I have never gone to white cross before. No greeting and didn’t even look at me. Then once I waited for five minutes she finally asked what I wanted. Made the whole experience nerve racking and stressful. Very unprofessional as it wasn’t even busy and the start of the day.
Really great, very experienced Drs, Nurses very welcoming, sorted my problem and organized follow up. Would recommend going there
We were impressed with the good service and the doctor we saw was lovely. The whole visit took less than an hour on a busy Monday morning and $123 they charged up front included antibiotics, so as a visitor from Australia we thought ii was a good deal and well organised. Thank you.
There was already a line out the door when I arrived before opening, but the staff were all still amazing, really friendly, there was only one nurse on at the time, but she was doing a great job getting people in rooms as soon as she could. Great doctor. Got the help I needed
It should be zero stars, it seems impossible to get medical treatment in Whangarei. I have had a UTI for 3 days and need antibiotics. None of the town GPs will see you unless you are registered & I am only visiting town. Whitecross is the only option. I was told its a 4.5 hour wait & $103. They said it would be an hour to see the nurse. They also said if you walk out and get called you are taken off the list. I waited over an hour then went to the desk and asked how long to see the nurse. Again she said an hour more. I asked for my money back and left. All I need is antibiotics.
Want to give them zero stars if possible. Reception is so rude and racist. No patience in communicating with my mum or me. Can’t believe being a health professional myself that is how they treat people. I hope we had a choice at that time in the evening. Appalling
We had done a immigration medical from whitecross on 23rd March 23,3 months later we had received the email from Immigration officer that they have still not submitted the final report. I would rather do with other reliable medical centers. Poor work ethics and don't care policy.
One of the front desks was racism. She asked me to pay first, saying that they now have a rule that needs to be paid first, but the person who arrived before me did not pay, and I also arrived here on Monday and paid after seeing the doctor. But she told me it was a rule started 2 weeks ago and I don't mind paying before, but she tried to lie to me.
Dr Lawrence Parker is most definitely the best doctor I have seen in my 8 years of living in New Zealand.
He explained everything to me in lamens terms and covered all the bases in exploratory and current symptoms terms
I genuinely wish he had his own practice as I would pay to see him every time!
White Cross in Whangarei was an unpleasant experience for me. The receptionist, who appeared to be an elderly lady, was very rude and unhelpful during my visit. She scoffed at my questions and seemed stressed, which made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I'm not sure if this is a common occurrence with her, but her behavior was unacceptable and made me hesitant to ever visit White Cross again. If you are in need of medical attention, I would recommend looking elsewhere for a more professional and welcoming environment.
Spacious waiting area and the fish tank is full of colour. Grateful they are open on a Saturday and staffed. Took approx 2 hrs for consultation and x-rays. The radiologist starts at 10ish.
Asked to wear the masks provided.
I came in because I wasn’t feeling well, I waited three hours which was fine but as soon as I saw one of the nurses she asked if I had done a covid test and when I responded no she had completely changed her tone and got angry at me for not doing one before coming in. She then told me that she was going on holiday next week and would be very cross if she got sick. My test was negative and she pretty much told me I was fine and to leave. The next morning I woke up Yellow and had to get transported to hospital due to my liver failing, she didn’t even take the time to check on me and I’m very dissapointed. I’m glad I didn’t have to pay the $80 fee.
I'd like to extend thanks to the staff @ White Cross, Whangarei. I went in yesterday, very distressed, with extreme back pain. The staff recognized I was in a bad way and didn't keep me waiting too long at all, even though the place was very busy. The nurses were kind and supportive, as well as the doctor and the radiologist who x-rayed me. I'm so grateful for the treatment I received. Thanks again.
Went to white cross as an out of towner not knowing where to see a doctor and they helped me out. Seems organised and i got seen in good time. They had a lot of people going through but staff came across as compassionate and friendly. Cost $103 but looks like the prescription is free.
Short of doctors 3plus hour wait left without getting to see a doctor frustrated. Pensioner Gold card not accepted. Nursing staff very good. Young female receptionist has attitude problem and rude.
One of the receptionist was lovely however other one wasn’t as welcoming seemed more irritated than anything. Was told to try and quiet my son down who was crying because they couldn’t hear anything. I asked if it was okay for me and my child to wait in the car. The rude receptionist said yes but to keep coming in every 20-30mins to remind them I was still waiting. I had to rush to the hospital because my sons breathing declined. I got a phone call 6 HOURS LATER to say they were ready to see my son. Absolutely atrocious & not to mention PRICES ARE RIDICULOUSLY HIGH.
Would Highly recommend getting a 2nd opinion when it comes to x-rays at White cross!
I took my son in because I thought he'd fractured or possibly cracked a bone in his ankle. The doctor looked at the x-ray and sent us home with a "really good sprain". I asked to see the x-rays and was refused. We had booked our son for physio prior to attending white cross and our physio was disgusted. He showed me the x-ray photos and I'm no medical professional but the fracture was clear to me
If you can't tell from this photo, it's what's called an undisplaced fracture where instead of the bone cracking or chipping - the whole ankle moved and fixed itself in the wrong position.
Very busy place, one receptionist was very helpful, one was really snappy and this was just after they opened. Otherwise the nurses were very caring and the doctors great. Hard time to be a emergency centre.
