Do the world a favour, close your doors and allow someone that loves food and the industry to take over your restaurant. Your using your view and absolutely zero hospitality talent. Your kitchen paper towels as napkins was a red flag and it didn’t get any better

Totally not recommend! Restrooms were filthy and no service! Tables were not cleaned and waited 25 min for a food menu.

We were a group of 4. When the other three were receiving their main meal, the waiter told me that my meal which had a GF option was not GF and would I like something else.
So, I waited for my meal, the other three almost finished theirs. Then mine arrived. A fish and chip meal with one piece of fish, the other fish and chip meal at our table had 2pieces of battered fish. I was offered a glass of house wine as compensation.
My husband ordered a lamb shank meal $42 and received ONE shank on his plate.
Will not be returning.

So, the food was OK. We went early purposely to get a seat next to the view/window but they were expecting 'more people' so got stuck next to a pole and the fish. No seasoning on the lambshank, only about 2 mouth fulls of meat on it, the vegetables were just stuck into the mash potato like a kids play dough at daycare. The Venison pie was small and same again with the vegetables. Definitely not worth the $106 for two small 'mains' and 2 beers. Arrived hungry and left hungry.

Awkward but a great place to be

Was sad to drive 40kms to Paihia and the service was shocking, many times I had to ask for our drinks to be refilled, yes restaurant was busy but no excuse to be left out on the wing wondering if our drinks will come or even get to order.
We had a table of 8, most ordered F. O. D
And I ordered battered fish and fries and asked if I could have it pan-fried instead.fish came out and was broken up in pieces.i would probably think twice about revisiting this restaurant.
Menu needs more dishes to choose from.

Great position and views, very limited menu, fabulous oysters, But stay away from the squid rings.

Seven years ago almost to the day we enjoyed a superb meal here. We took friends along last night but sadly the experience was a little different. The entrees were certainly up to standard, and the lamb shank was delicious, but 3 of our party opted for the Pumpkin Gnocchi with a Seafood Medley. None of these plates delivered, the gnocchi was "gluggy", possibly cooked incorrectly and we advised the maitre d. More than a little underwhelming. When it came to settle, the front of house manager? Was kind enough to make a small adjustment, but we went away hungry and disappointed. I noted that we were only one of a small handful of diners, so it wasn't that the chef was too busy. We are in town til the end of the week, it would be nice to hear some feedback from management.

Beautiful settings, lovely atmosphere, wonderful staff service, but for me they need help with their take on pork spare ribs, why would you serve that, all covered in sour sauce, both where not very nice for the price payed

Excellent service but very average food. Well over salted soup, very bland chowder, lacking seafood flavour. Kumara chips were the highlight

Walked in for dinner and had a fantastic experience in Paihia! From the drinks to dessert, all were well done and very tasty for the value. Leoni was very busy but took great care of us with a joyful cheer! Sitting on the water in the Bay of Islands you won't be disappointed with Zane Grey's!

Excellent menu. We loved the New Zealand green lipped mussels which are large, fresh and well cooked in a white wine sauce.
We also ordered fish and chips that were very good.
Our server Lara provided friendly and attentive service. Well done.

Sitting in the sun with a view of the Bay of Islands and a cup of coffee with a cake. Very enjoyable.

Great view, super location on the deck.
Good staff, nice, friendly and competent.
Chilled drinks.
I had a burger which was really good, hubby had calamari, also very good.
We both shared a salad which unfortunately had quite a lot of already rotted leaves in it.
We also got ourselves wet bums as the pillows on the sofas had obviously been left outside overnight in the rain and you couldn't immediately tell, only after seeing the wet marks around the pillows on top.
Potential for five stars!

Our experience at Zane Grey's was stunning! The restaurant was fully booked as it was a really busy day but Jacopo not only managed to find a place for us, but also provided us with an exceptional service and great cocktails:)

I came here after the boat tour and had a wonderful dining experience.we ordered the fish of the day - it was delicious! Rafie was also very welcoming and made sure we were comfortable.thanks again Rafie!

Two differents ways to see it
As customers, with my girlfriend everything was perfect, the wine, the food and the service (big up to Ella and Courtney!)
As workers here, the team is amazing, the spirit as well.
