Wildwire Wanaka reviews
36Had a great time. Great challenging experience without being too difficult for the average person. Guides were fantastic.
A brilliant experience, tailored to your abilities and level of preparedness.
Our guide, Kate, was so caring and understanding - supported my wife all the way through as she was so apprehensive of hights.
Of note - level 1 for beginners is really easy, should not trouble even people with minimal level of fitness.
Thank you so much.
Wonderful activity for 1st time via ferrata. Not really physically challenging. Few bridges and the waterfall will keep you company all the way up. I recommend Level 2 for beginner, as Level 1 is just an appetizer.
I would do this again and again if I lived nearby! The Level 1 via Ferrata was challenging but so much fun and I felt really accomplished when I finished the level. If you're up for it, you may have a chance to take on Level 2 when you complete Level 1, for an additional cost. Our guide Shane was patient, knowledgeable and professional and the owner was very welcoming. I highly recommend this experience if you're in the Wanaka area!
Such a fun day out with the Wildwire team - Level 2 was great for me which provided enough adrenaline to make me feel brave. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the food was delicious.
The best experience for both my son and me. Level One set all expectations, will definitely try Level Two on our next trip to Wanaka! Our guide Brendon was fantastic and made the experience so much fun. Loved it!
Nothing short of flabbergasting, Really cool experience - climbing up the waterfalls with great views to the valley below!
Level 2 was a real thrill:)
Thank you
Absolutely incredible experience. It was our first time doing a Via Ferrata and we loved every minute of it. Naomi was a great guide! Felt very safe and the views were spectacular. Can’t recommend highly enough
What an experience, what a view! If you want to combine movement, excitement and nature, don’t hesitate. The entire team is really passionate about what they do and they care about your safety and well-being. They will encourage you to get out of your comfort zone without putting pressure on you. Definitely would recommend!
One of the most enjoyable and challenging holiday experiences I’ve ever had. Our guide Brendan was helpful and fun and made sure we all were enjoying our climb safely. The views were spectacular. Would highly recommend this waterfall climb!
I had a great time doing the level 2 lord of the rungs. I think level one would not have been enough, level 2 had some epic views, crazy bridges and some steep climbs. It was such a fun time and Brendon was a great guide, he let us know what to expect in each section and encouraged everyone to push their limits when it came to hanging off the sides of bridges. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Wanaka or Queenstown, it's so close not to do!
This was a fantastic way to spend a day! The instructors were all climbing experts who helped make it ridiculously easy. A couple of people in our group were a bit nervous but the instructors easily got them up and down. This is a must-do activity if you're in Wanaka.
Amazing views, fun climbing and great staff that are chatty and take great pictures for you as you climb. Highly recommend!
I did the level 2 course and I can’t recommend this experience enough. Our guides were Connie and Jake who made us feel so safe and provided heaps of helpful tips, constant guidance and even some amazing photos (thanks Connie!). The instructions were clear and we had a test run before going to the mountain where we learnt how to use the gear. I’m of moderate fitness and I wasn’t challenged by the climb (think of it as a slow ladder climb… very high off the ground!) so I wouldn’t be concerned if fitness is your barrier. We were provided lunch and a snack which was a welcome surprise. Our guides were so enthusiastic and you can tell they are doing what they love. Thanks Connie!
I DON'T HAVE A GOOD HEAD FOR HEIGHTS. Having read that twelve-year olds had completed the Level 2 course, that was my baseline. Upon completion of Level 2, and how much of a good time I was having, we inquired our guide Jack about the Level 3 circumstances, and what we could expect. On this day my wife and I were the only two to ask for Level 3 out of maybe 18 participants, and I couldn't be more proud of myself. Each level offers a new challenge, but I'd say that if you ENJOY Level 2, ask for Level 3 when the time comes.
Big shout-out to guides, Jack and Naiome. I brought my modified DSLR holster so I wouldn't have to use it as a sling. And while I was able to take good photos of my wife behind me with it, the guides were remarkable photographers and know the best spots. It's ok not to bring a camera if you want to focus on climbing, just ask nicely for them to take photos, candid or otherwise. At no point did I feel unsafe.
OMG and the provided food was fabulous. We brought snacks that we didn't use which we'll save for another day.
We had an absolutely unforgettable time doing level 2 Lord of the Rungs. My husband and I are 59, and we were with two of our adult children who do a lot of indoor bouldering. Climbing isn't exactly my thing, so I was a bit unsure if I'd enjoy it. But it was excellent: more mentally tiring ("Where should I put my left foot so that my right arm can reach the next rung? " kind of thing) than either physically exhausting or terrifying. By the end of level 2, I was ready to head down. The rest of the family would have loved to add on level 3 at that point but there was no helicopter available. Our guide Brendan was encouraging and upbeat throughout-fantastic.
Really fun experience! Would recommend doing level 2 as I would have been disappointed stopping at level 1, which felt quite short. Level 2 has some more challenging sections and more bridges where you can hang from which is a lot of fun, and you get to see bigger waterfalls! Didn’t do level 3 but I was pretty satisfied with the length and excitement of level 2. It was a very hot day on the day I did it but most of the climb was in shade which was nice. You do get slowed down a bit if the person at the front is slow but you can always hang out (literally) or enjoy the views.
What a beautiful adventure wr had today. Connie you were an amazing guide, we had loads of fun. Truly recommend it to anyone and everyone
Such a cool experience to complete the tallest waterfall climb in the world! We completed all 3 levels. Level 3 is a bit more technical but I have never climbed and completed it. Trip highlight for sure!
Did a level 3 climb with my family. It was amazing! Our guides were fantastic and we felt safe at all times. Lunch was super tasty and the helicopter ride down was a blast! Thoroughly enjoyed and highly recommend for a day of fun and adventure!
