Abel Tasman Canyons

Great trip with our guide Amelia. I’ve never done canyoning before and it’s a lot of fun - I was getting very tired by the end (expect that it will be physically demanding) but Amelia was great at keeping everyone together, recommending different levels of things to do to cater for everyone.

A fantastic day in a gorgeous canyon! I could not have asked for a more exciting and enjoyable journey. Our guide Amelia was incredible and knew so much about the wildlife and surrounding forest which I really loved to learn about. 11/10 would love to go canyoning again.

11/10! Would recommend anyone does this tour. Incredibly well organised. You get fitted with a wetsuit, briefed and have the most amazing time in incredible scenery. I would do this again and again and again. Our guides Amelia and Zeke were absolute legends, really brought the vibes and made us feel incredibly safe. You have the choice to jump 6 and 8m off a rock. Sooooo fun!

Canyoneering the Torrent River with Abel Tasman Canyons was one of the highlights of our Christmas 2023 South Island road trip! It was our first canyoneering trip, so we had no idea what to expect. The river was absolutely gorgeous, and it’s such a treat to see places that the taniwha prevents most people from enjoying. We truly appreciated Caleb’s energy and infectious enthusiasm – it made for such a fun vibe. Zeke mentioned early on that it was his first season, but he kept us safe, kept us well-fed, and was a total professional. I’ll admit that the activities were push-my-buttons fun, but I never felt pressured and just totally loved the thrills and being outside my comfort zone. We had a great bunch of people, which added to the fun and added a bit of peer pressure to show off on the splashes.

We booked the trip to Torrent River - it was a blast! Not just the time spent in the canyon, but the journey to Anchorage by water taxi and the hike to the canyon are spectacular and well worth it. Just make sure to wear shoes that you’re ok with getting entirely wet and that have a really good grip, since you’ll be wearing your own shoes throughout the entire trip.

Very well organized; from the beginning Liv and Danelle kept us all well informer gave us a lot of info about safety etc; on the walk up they also shared some interesting facts about park; once we got to top of the canyon they gave very c and helpful instructions what to do and were able to push our limits so we can experience it to the fullest! It was such a fun day of abseiling, zip-lining, jumping sliding through the river! Totally recommend it!

Did the tour a few weeks ago, it was so much fun and definitely a big highlight of our south island road trip!

We had the most amazing time canyoning with Abel Tasman Canyons on Friday. Our guide Leo was super fun, friendly and obviously loves what he does which is totally infectious.

The whole experience from the booking process to being dropped off by water taxi at the end of the day was fantastic and well organised - we were well looked after from start to finish.

The canyoning itself was so beautiful and there were varied activities throughout. 3 hours felt like it went by in 10 minutes and we smiled, laughed and cheered the whole time.

We would genuinely go back and do it all over again next time we visit.

I did the Torrent River canyoning trip a few days ago & had such an amazing time sliding, abseiling, jumping off rocks & zip lining down the river in the most scenic location, surrounded by huge moss-covered walls. Toine & Leo did an absolutely fantastic job of making sure everyone was safe & everyone had a fun time. Thanks so much guys! Awesome stuff!

I had a top day canyoning in the Torrent river. Awesome experience! Great guiding by Pepijn. We went down in the canyon with a small group of 4. Lots of jumps, glides and abseiling. I loved it!

Had the absolute best time with Donella and Alex as our guides! This trip to Torrent River was so much more than I'd anticipated, in all the good ways! I was encouraged, challenged, and supported the whole way through and this experience was a definite highlight of my trip down the south island. Stunning vista's, knowledgeable and friendly guides, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Epic adventure! These guys are the best. An amazing day full of adventure in pristine nature. Tough and long but absolutely worth it. There is nothing like this and I have tried so many activities in New Zealand for many years. Second canyoning with them and loved every moment. Brought some friends along and they had the best time! Our guides Toine and Zeb were amazing and provided options for everyone. Very safe but full of adrenaline. Can't recommend it enough!

Awesome experience & professional guides Yuri was our instructor for the day he was such a professional and always made us feel safe and confident while going through the course. I highly recommend doing the course if your ever in the abel tasman, just make sure your fitness is up for it as it is a long day and the water is cold.

Epic day exploring and adventuring in a unique part of the park. Oscar and Alex are awesome guides. Fifth time Canyoning and this one definitely comes out of top! Great mix of abseiling, jumps and slides. Something new and exciting around every corner. An experience not to be missed if you're visiting the area.

My son (12 yr) and I did the Torrent River Canyoning in Feb 2022. What an awesome day that was. Toine and Eliot were absolutely superb. This ticked all the boxes, fun, excitement, adrenaline, 10 out of 10 for us.

We had the best day ever! The guides were super supportive and lots of fun. They made us feel totally safe but still challenged - a cracking adventure, recommended to all!

Did this over New Years and had the BEST time. You have a part of the Abel Tasman park completely to yourself and see a part of it that no one else gets to. It’s beautiful, it’s fun, and we had a blast. Oscar and Dan were great hosts, reading the abilities of the group and balancing safety and adventure perfectly. We did it by meeting the guys at Anchorage Bay halfway through our walk. Great value for money and highly recommend!

We decided to take our team canyoning for our end of year function and we absolutely loved it! From start to finish the team at Abel Tasman Canyons have the trip covered. It is such a fun team building activity that all ages will love. I highly recommend!
