Abel Tasman Marahau Sea Kayaks reviews
50Amazing experience! Our instructor was really helpful and he gave as a really good explanation for beginners in the awesome open ocean of Abel Tasman. I really recommend them!
Fantastic experience! We loved kayaking one way from Mārahau to Anchorage. We had our bags transported by aqua taxi right through to Bark bay as we hiked from Anchorage to Bark bay the same day.
The service was excellent and great staff.
We had our Kayak brief at 8: 30 am then we started kayaking at around 10ish, arrived at Anchorage around 1ish. Took some time to relax there and have lunch while we waited for low tide, where we could hike across the estuary at the earliest opportunity which for us was around 3pm that day and we arrived at our campsite at Bark bay 5: 30ish. Just perfect.
The best coastline ever, picturesque beaches, cliffs, forests along the way! You must be fit for this one!
It did help that we had great early-March weather, but both the kayak and the aqua-taxi + 12km hike were brilliant. We chose the 3hr freedom kayak, headed south to where Split Apple Rock is and pulled up at a quiet beach. Probably spent 35-40mins each way in the kayak (medium exercise) and the remaining time at the beach.
So enjoyable we returned again the national park the following day and took the aqua taxi from Maharau to Anchorage Bay (45mins on the water at a fair cost). Spent time on a beautiful beach then started the 12km (approx 3hr, easy level) trail back to the start at Marahau. Some of the clearest water I've come across and some stunning views. Highly recommended.
The morning water taxi ride for our guided kayak trip, with the afternoon walk to the return taxi point, was a perfect experience. Our guide Tucker was great.
Our guide Emily was absolutely amazing! She was patient and clear when explaining everything and was super knowledgeable about the area - she even made fresh coffee for us when we stopped for lunch! The kayaking tour was beautiful, we learnt a lot and had heaps of fun, it was perfect for those in our group who had never kayaked before as well as those of us who did.
If your debating between hiring kayaks or going with a guide, consider no further! Call this company and ask for Reid. He will take you to places you can’t go on your own and will feel like a friend while at the same time taking care of your every need. I’d recommend the two day experience. It was glorious.
Booked a Kajak for the whole day. The equipment given was very good and the instructions the guide gave us before w started the tour were clear and very helpful. Hot and free showers afterwards.
It was fun to kayak around and stop on the beaches. We saw some seals. What impressed us most was the differences between high and low tide.
Great and easy service. We hired the kayak for one day. To be able to stop off at any bay we pleased was a huge bonus. Our safety instructor was really informative and left no safety stone unturned. He was funny and relatable too. We got through our briefing in a breeze and was on the water quick smart and was able to enjoy the most amazing day in the water. We felt safe and was lots of fun!
Highly recommend this activity. Our guide Emily was super patient and knowledgeable and the sea kayaks are nice and sturdy for anyone worried about drowning
We saw some seals!
Awesome day! Small group, fantastic and informative leader. We were lucky enough to kayak with the seal pups choosing to swim all around us. Scenery was simply stunning, really could not ask for more! Highly recommended:) The lunch was great too
We did the Blast and Walk to start off our 3 day hike. Highly recommend starting off with a kayak. The double kayaks made it easily doable with our youngest being 10. Our guide was knowledgeable about the area, friendly and made a great coffee! Was a bonus being able to get to see the seals too. Thank you for a very enjoyable morning.
A brilliant 4 hours in the Astrolabe. Whole experience from guide talk to kayak retrieval was perfect
Fabulous experience! We did the Freedom tonga (2 days of kayaking) and it was just perfect! We spent the night at anchorage campsite. Well organised and safety briefing before we started the kayak and enjoyed Abel Tasman. Lot of room inside the kayak to pack everything needed for an overnight trip.
We had such a brilliant experience with our amazing guide Pounaeu! He was super knowledgeable, great fun and a great guy! Would 10/10 recommend!
We did a one day freedom kayak and then walked back from Anchorage. The experience was excellent, and our guide who talked us through the safety brief was hilarious, making the start of the day fun. We would definitely do this again.
Great trip, obviously weather dependent - much easier to paddle having the wind pushing you. Lots of seals and some great stories by our tour guide Bal.
Would highly recommend Marahau Sea Kayaks! We had a wonderful experience; the lunch was delicious and simple, the walk was goegeous, and the sea kayaking was awesome with fun guides! We even had plenty of time between walking and kayaking for a long lunch and swimming at the beach. I'd do it all again in a heartbeat!
Brilliant half day blast with our friendly guide Kea. Excellent quality trip, great briefing and very informative interesting local history made the trip an all round fun time.
