Went on a horse riding trek down tto the beach. What an amazing ride. They were accommodating for every level of rider. What an amazing experience. Highly recommended.

Amazing horse trek, an absolute journey up to a beautiful mountain range, excellent guides and just an unforgettable experience. Well behaved horses with great personalitys.

Such mazing trip with very friendly and experience staff, the lighthouse, the national, the beach all beautiful! Especially the cliff top and fossil point, with the trip also they provide us delicious hot muffins and hot drinks.

Absolutely amazing! My partner and I are novice horse riders (20 years since I'd been on a horse) and we did the 5 hour horse trek (the experienced riders said we were crazy - and we are)! They taught us how to ride a horse from a slow walk to a gallop! My legs are definitely sore but it was so worth it. Would highly recommend and would do it again (for beginner riders I would suggest a shorter trip-unless you're a bit on the crazier side like us)! Thanks Cape Farewell Horse Trek! Best short horse trek I have done in NZ. Super friendly crew, horses all happy and ready to have some fun. Beach trots and bush climbs spectacular.

Had an absolutely amazing time on the ride. The shortest one is absolutely enough if you are a beginner or haven’t ridden in a while. Oak was a great horse who enjoyed getting involved. Amazing views too.

Knowledgeable and easy going guides. Had a great group of people, which made the ride good. Great area for a ride, beautiful views. I would definitely go for 1 of their other rides when back in this area.

My wife & I were a bit nervous about our first ever horse trek experience, but James, Clarissa & Renee quickly put us at ease with their easy-going nature, care & professionalism. All 3 checked in with us on seperate occasions during the ride to ensure we were comfortable & enjoying ourselves. All horses were calm & a joy to be around. We could tell that James & his staff are passionate about horses and there's no doubt that the horses are very well looked after and cared for. Being Nelson locals we've visited the area many times but there's something extra-special about experiencing the spectacular scenery of Cape Farewell on horseback. The team were happy to take the time to take photos on everyone's phones of us all on horseback from a spectacular vantage point on a hilltop with Farewell Spit in the background. There were also young kids on the ride & they were very well looked after with extra attention being paid which was nice to see & you could tell they were having an absolute ball! We highly recommend Cape Farewell Horse Treks! Thanks so much guys!

Beach on a 41/2 hr horse trek. It was everything I dreamed galloping the along the beach then up into the mountains which was a little scary but it was sensational. James and Clarissa were great fun and took great care of me and their horses highly recommended to anyone with a passion for WhararikiBeach and horses. Thanks again and I’ll be back.

I did a horse trek with this place and broke my back when one of their horses bolted and threw me off. The staff handled it terribly. On hearing of my injury (via tripadvisor), their response was "horse riding is a high risk sport. "

Nevermind how poorly behaved the horses are (the worst I've met in 30 years of riding) - if you are running a high risk business, you need to have an incident response plan worthy of that risk. This place doesn't appear to have one at all.

After my fall, the guides did absolutely nothing to ensure my wellbeing. I was retching from pain and could barely breathe or speak, and the guide told me I was just in shock. I asked him if there was any way for me to get back to the ranch without getting on the horse, and he said no - I had to ride another 20 minutes with my back broken in two places.

Of course I realise now there were other options - a 4 runner or a helicopter or even have me ride to the nearest road and a car picks me up? None of this was thought of or offered by them - and I was in too much pain to think of it myself.

I wasn't offered any first aid back at the ranch other than some panadol. When I asked where I could wash the blood off my foot, I was directed to a hose around the corner. While I was washing myself off, I overheard two employees in the staff room calling me dramatic. One employee did ask if I was okay, but when I said "no", she walked away without comment and never came back! The others ignored me completely.

Finally - no one ever followed up with me. Why did you bother taking detailed contact information if not to follow up with someone injured in your care? You say you "endeavour to provide a fun and safe activity, " but that's not possible without a proper incident response plan, which you either do not have or do not follow.

Amazing! 10 out of 10! Horses are so well cared for and trained beautifully! So safe, soft, kind and fun riding horses! You can tell they like their job!

Staff are awesome! Lots of great chats and laughs had, they make sure you are all safe and having a great time.

We had lots of opportunities to ride faster being Experienced riders and we noted how well they look after their learner riders too ;-)

Scenery is just amazing! Simply amazing! It’s breathtaking!

What an amazing experience! My partner and I did the Old Man's Range trek and we had a fantastic time. The horses were beautiful and had no qualms about carrying inexperienced riders. My horse on the day, Missouri, constantly looked back to check that I was okay - so cool.

The view from top of the hill overlooking Farewell Spit was absolutely breathtaking.

The staff are brilliant, all so friendly and made sure that everyone was safe and having a good time. Thank you, Clarissa, Lara, Renee, and James! We'll definitely come back and do it again.

The team were just amazing, we had a reasonably big group but with four guides everyone was very well looked after. The area is just stunning and it was great fun having a splash in the sea. The horses and amenities were in top top shape as well. What impressed me the most was how extremely well they handled a mix of novice and experienced riders which isn’t an easy feat! Overall five star experience, I had a fabulous time.

Absolutely had a fantastic time. The horses r beautiful, Clarissa gorgeous guide, her enthusiasm and energy real genuine, and super professional, and boy did they match us with the right horse to our personality, 8 riders in the group. What a special gem of a place! Lara and Clarissa were wonderful hosts; Lara especially was a thoughtful, personable and fantastic guide. She checked in constantly with us, provided excellent commentary and we felt safe at all times. Breathtaking views of Farewell Spit and Abel Tasman from the Old Man Range. Horses were very well taken care of, equipment immaculate. Speaking with James and the team after the ride showed he takes great care and pride in his horses and the team and skills he has. Highly recommended, we didn’t want to leave! I’ve been on a few horse treks but this one took the cake. Thank you for a magical experience.

Had the beat day with the team at CFHT. Lana was and amazing guide and Clive and Tonks were the loveliest horses. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! Huge thank you to the whole team for an awesome afternoon that we won't forget!

Greatest horse riding experience ever. From riding trough water on beach and bush treks with highly experienced guide's. I have to say that James with so much horse riding experience and the beautiful Clarissa with her bubbly personality and friendliness are just amazing and make you feel at home and part of the family.
