Richmond exhaust and radiators did a rear muffler delete on my car.they did a clean and tidy job while I waited and I'm really impressed with their professionalism and skill.they explained the job fully and let me know what to expect. Sorry I should have left more details as to why I left this review. Firstly, when arriving after booking in almost 2 weeks previous, there was major confusion as to why we were there that day which in the end it was found where we were booked in although I think it was not in the correct place. This was frustrating as we planned to stay in Richmond for a day to sort out these issues and it seemed it was inconvenient that we were there and like you didn’t have much time or planned for it.

Secondly, only after having the vehicle for an hour we were called and told a flush couldn’t be done as due to the age of the radiator it would ruin it and then wouldn’t be useable again and that instead we should replace the radiator ($1000). This should’ve been considered a possibility and better relayed on the phone when booking. I understand vehicles need to be looked at first but this was never suggested and really the flush was explained as “easy and to do” while on the phone.

Thirdly, we were then called and told we had an older core radiator that was so blocked that when the mechanic took it for a short drive that it easily overheated. We had already explained that we had done Milford, Lewis, and Haast passes which it became warm on but not hot or even in the 3/4 range so it was hard to believe this was the case.

Because of the following weekend and holiday this couldn’t be done until at least 5 or more days later. We would have been more than happy to book the car in here but unfortunately we had multiple other bookings that if we changed we would have lost a lot of money. I explained this on the phone and said we would try and book it in somewhere else like Wellington which we were going to be in a week later anyways.

I was then called again and told maybe instead we replace the water pump to “help” the issue and it was less expensive ($700). It’s very hard to understand that if a radiator is so blocked why we would choose to do the water pump instead for $300 less and in the long run have to do the radiator replacement anyways.

You’re right it is quite frustrating when things don’t work out and can’t get done when you want. But what was more frustrating is that we felt we weren’t given a good truthful service and that we wasted a day in Richmond. All other mechanics we have spoken to have said not to worry as the thermostat quickly cools down when it warms up but we thought we would take the cautious route but instead we left here feeling more hopeless and unsure of what to think after this experience.

I’m sorry to leave such a large negative review. I am sure you do provide great service to the majority but we did not feel that way and is why we felt this review was needed.

Would recommend. They were transparent about the options and consequences for fixing our radiator and the costs. Unfortunately our radiator needed to be replaced, but they tried their best to keep the costs down which we appreciated.

Absolutely 100% recommend! They were super AWESOME, went above and beyond to help me with a quote and fixed exhaust same day. Brilliant service, customer service and workmanship.

Saw the reviews online, showed up on the day unannounced just passing through Nelson hoping to get an exhaust done on my 4wd. No worries they squeezed me in. Very happy with the job done. Thanks guys!

This company thinks adding parts I didn't want and making contact after they were installed, raising the quote price, is okay. I would not recommend spending money here. I now need to remove said parts myself or spend money to have it removed, car sounds horrific and I don't even want to drive it!

Went in to get my V8 Commy exhaust changed to have a better/louder note without being stupid loud.
Was very knowledgeable and helpful, original planned changed as the old piping was full of holes! But, this wasn't an issue and he replaced with no worries.
End result was a great sounding V8! Exactly what I had wanted, and for a very good price!

Out of Towner's, exhaust blowing. Called at 3pm to see if they could have a look but we couldn't make it till near 4: 45 bearing in mind they close at 5pm. Not a problem bring it in, got there early and after bit of cutting and welding.job done! Great customer service friendly attitude and great prices. Totally recommend.

Yet another V8 opened up to breathe with 3" twin pipes back to the original tips by the team at Richmond Exhaust and Radiator Specialists, even the service advisor office Lady/sister was called out to line the originl tips up better, as the factory setup was kinked in multiple directions helping deliver yet another perfect job.

If you think you know what you want, my advice is to listen at the recomendations and let them deliver the best out come for what you are wanting, priced me a better than fair esitmate and came in at $105 cheaper. I am so happy, she is throaty and opens right up but no drone to the cab just as promised, make this 120k ram sound like it looks, thanks guys wouldnt go anywhere else and because I've joined the Mopar community I was even invited out back for a coffee at smoko

Priceless job and very affordable compared to buying a Mopar kit by well over 70% less not including the install, for the first stage, waiting on the extractors to be sourced for RH set up then I'll be back.

Absolutely awesome people! So friendly and genuine. I just got my exhaust done, asked for it to be louder than stock and without a doubt it is exactly what I asked for! I was expecting it to be expensive but it was so affordable. I am so happy with it and will definitely be recommending people towards these awesome people!:)

Got a hell of a lot more for the 1.3k spent than another place.

Above all, I was genuinely looked after and their kindness did not go unnoticed. These guys fitted a new radiator and replaced two of my tyres. They were so lovely and let meuse their facilities as I was living out of my van they were fixing.they found problems with my vehicle that I didn't know existed and fixed them for me, and then when a new leak appeared they fixed that for me too:) They also gave me awesome advice about how to approach car problems in the future. Just great people on the whole
